I don't want to add any bias to this so I'm keeping it very simple. Currently we have occasional weekend events where something is buffed for the duration, dilithium, XP, CXP, etc. Previously we had rotating hourly events each day of the week.
So which do you think is the better system, which do you think would revitalise the game more, the current system of weekend events or the old system of hourly events?
Feel free to comment on your reasons, but keep them brief please, no walls of text, and please respect other people's opinions if they differ from yours.
Which do you prefer, hourly or weekend events or both? 106 votes
I would like to see hourly events reinstated
I prefer the current system of occasional weekends
I would prefer the hourly events reinstated in addition to the current weekend specials

I don't know what "hourly events" are.
Here's a clue: It involves events that occur hourly.
Bring back the hourlies along with weekend events or bring them instead of weekend events, I don't really care which one will be it.
I want to be able to play Mine Trap again.
Edit: Id also really want them to bring back the Mirror Invasion Hourly ! Its really needed these days.
I really like the weekly FAs tho.
Keep the weekend events as they are, and maybe develop the Red Alert tasks further to become it's only hourly events. They offer boosts in EXP anyway as well as a Dil payout at the end. Just chuck in the option to choose what marks you'd like as a reward and have more of them. Like a Herald Red Alert, and an Undine Red Alert and so on.
It was dumb to change from hourlies in the first place. There was no good reason to do so and change for change's sake always makes things worse.
Let the stupid suffer
I'd devise some multi-event system, personally. Imagine 3 different things on rotation, and they are all active at the same time. Figure one rotating between marks/mats/dil, then another maybe rotates between STFs, missions/foundry, and "arenas" which would be battlezones, red alerts, and PVP, and give bonus XP primarily with some smaller bonuses to the other rewards. Then a third event could rotate between specific queues, mission arcs, and have special events like the original mirror invasion queue, but of course this one would take much longer one to rotate through and give good bonuses to everything.
Imagine having dilithium hour line up with STFs hour and mine trap hour, then you get a bunch of bonuses all adding up for doing mine trap, or if you hate it, you can do ISA and still get a decent dilithium payout. Sometimes it would be a slow hour offering RnD mats, arenas, and the Cardassian arc, where they don't really overlap much. Hours could also be 2 or sometimes 3 hours on the short rotations to help the rotation shift every day. So it might be hour-hour-hour-2 hours-hour-3 hours-hour, etc.
Ha ha ha. Very clever.
Still, since I haven't experienced one, I can't tell which I prefer.
So, "Other". If there was such an option in the poll
We used to get a rotating hourly bonus. The best ones I liked were extra mat drops and dil. People would rush to play STFs during the dil bonus hour.
I went with option C, but in all honesty the old rotating hourly event schedule kind of sucked. Bringing it back in addition to the current weekend event rotation would simply give me some kind of option for doing something when I log in, get my DOFFing or whatever done and still want to play, but don't really have anything in particular that I'm wanting to do.
What I think really needs to happen is for the weekend events to go on a predictable rotation with one every weekend, a return of the weekly STF bonus day (though probably reworked to promote a specific mark type) that provides doubled rewards for doing a particular STF or set of STFs on that day.
Similarly it also might be worth looking into adding weekday events that occur every week - like say awarding bonus XP or Dilithium for playing Foundry missions on Tuesdays and Wednesday, boosting XP and Mark rewards for playing one of the Fleet Queues (Fleet Alert, Blockade, etc.) on Mondays. That sort of thing.
Hell throw in days where you get boosted rewards for replaying old mission episodes one day a week.
Yes, this. This would be the best option. Well written.

with the weekend events I know I can play and gain from then no matter what time I can play even if I am working the weekend shift after ive got home and had my evening meal I can get a couple of hours play before I go to bed.
putting the third vote choice in this poll to have both hourly events and weekend events was a waste of a vote for anyone who used it, surly you realise that's never going to happen and it ruins the end results of this poll that should have been a strait choice between hourlys and weekend events.
ultimately it would be awesome if they run both hourlys and weekend events then everyone would be happy but we live in the real world and cryptic would never go for that.
of course daily or week long events would have give more flexibility for the players but you should know that aint gonna happen either.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
This.

but you also need to work within the framework of what you know cryptic would implement and you must be aware that cryptic would never do hourlys and weekend events at the same time they would only do one or the other.
with this knowledge in mind you should see that this poll as it stands is a wasted opportunity as most players given the choice would obviously have both but it will never happen.
