They do those things to get people to play their game. If people don't play their game, they lose their jobs. So your advice would result in the devs being out of work.
Also, the people who post(and complain) on the forums are a small minority of the total playerbase, so you are advocating punishing the entire playerbase for the behavior of the minority on the forums. That is extremely poor business practice.

Logic, huh? Let's see, your argument appears to be:
1. For any x, if x is a member of the STO community, then x rebels over anything done for anyone else in the community by Cryptic.
2. For any x, if x is a member of the STO community, then x rebels over nothing at all.
3. For any x, if x is a member of the STO community, then x rebels over anything at all.
.'. For any x, if x is a member of the STO community, then for that x, Cryptic should do nothing.
Leaving aside for the moment the fact that your conclusion is a Non Sequitur and the fact that PWE Marketing is not Cryptic Studios, let's say someone in a position to act on your suggestion did so. That would accomplish ... what, exactly?
In the case of this thread, I looked in to see what it was about (expecting yet another example of hysterical hyperbole and/or unwarranted assumption and/or hasty generalization used as an excuse to cry for some entirely unnecessary nerf), and, having read the OP, I might have ignored it entirely, had the OP not attempted to invoke the hoary name of logic and insinuate that his/her OP was somehow logical, for you see, my BA was a double major in Philosophy (and something else which I will leave unstated here), and my focus was Logic in the former (and something else in the latter). Thus, when someone starts talking about Logic, and makes it obvious that they do not intend Cthia (i.e., the teachings of Surak), then my interest is likely to be piqued, and when they are misusing the term so blatantly in an effort to beat someone over the head for disagreeing with their banal suggestion, then I am moved to apply correction.

The writers of Star Trek didn't know what logic is either. Vulcan logic is more like a moral philosophy than actual logic. When most people think of logic, they think of a well-written political essay or legal argument, or perhaps the methods used by a famous detective in a mystery novel. But those things involve very little, if any, logic. They might exhibit a very good understanding of human affairs, but that's not the same thing as logic. Logic is a specialized technical field with applications in mathematics, philosophy, linguistics, and computer science.

As I said elsewhere, don't see the fuss myself. A ship that the players who're moaning were probably not really fussed about until they realised that they couldn't have it for nothing, and 10 spec points, easily obtainable via playing the game, which is entirely the point - spec points that someone returning to the game won't have. In fact, they may not even know what Spec points are.

If they had been up front with us from the start "Like hey here is the critera for this email, Hey be nice to the new guys comming back show em around," I wouldn't have cared it was the fact that some poor sap came back and said "Did anyone else get this email?" One part of the community did have Knee Jerk ALL IS MINE GIVE ME ALL, while some parts like my self decided to calm down and see what was going on, I had a very well and very thought out post but it was locked and thats the end of that, even if it had been something as simple as "DOUBLE EXPS FOR ALL" this wouldn't have kicked up the TRIBBLE storm it is now.
The problem is that its not just 10 free spec points, Its a jump to level 60.
I firmly believe we shouldn't take things away purely out of a sense of vindication. While I disagree with some language that's been thrown around (do not let frustration result in volatility of language), I still think that this should be a place where people are free to discuss things that are either positively or adversely affecting the community.
