Windows 10 FPS/Performance Issues

neoatticusneoatticus Member Posts: 72 Arc User
Well, I upgraded to windows 10 a couple weeks ago. The first few days, I had bad lag (down to 15 fps, just sitting in my ship in space sector with nothing going on around, and I was seeing 15 fps). I don't know how, but a couple days later, the lag issues disappeared. Now they are back, where I'm getting 23 fps in Drozana station (still smooth, but getting close to laggy) and then hitting CCA and getting as low as 0.60 FPS.

Does ANYONE know of a workaround for this? It simply isn't possible to play this game with FPS below 20 on an STF. If my FPS was hitting 25 on a large STF, that would be marginally acceptable, but I'm getting 25 in Drozana and less than one FPS during CCA.

Computer Stats are as follows:

Intel I7-4910 Quad Core Processor OC to 3.4Ghz, 32GB of ram, 2 Nvidia Geforce 860M Graphics cards in SLi configuration with 4Gbs of Vram a piece, and a soundblaster Fi-3 soundcard, with the whole kit and caboodle runing windows 10.

Are you able to disable SLI at least for testing, or on a per-app basis?

I can disable it completely, but not app-by-app. Turns out, I've been running it out of SLi for at least a week now, now trying it with it on to see if it has any positive effect (it might, or it might be the server that is clogged/not clogged right now).

OK, no dice. It wasn't working out. I even turned all of my graphics settings down. I have to conclude that the issue is with Cryptic's network/server. There is absolutely no way any of this lag could be coming from my end. Especially running the computer I'm running, with FiOS. Basically, as it stands I can't run CC(A) at all. My frame rate appears to normally be around 25/30 and when I enter CC(A) drops to between 10 and 0.3 Fps.

The thing that sticks out the most to me, however, is that I keep seeing this little message (FYI, to see your fps now, you must first type "/showfps 1" and then type "/hidedevui 0"). The Fps will show up in the upper right, over your minimap. Outside is your FPS, inside the ( ) shows your time between frames in milliseconds. Anywho, the message I keep seeing involves too many objects being rendered (I think). Basically, even though I have WAY more memory than I need, and even though I've set the games application to use as much memory as it wants, it isn't partitioning enough memory to use to render all of the individual objects. This is true even when graphics settings are so low as to almost be off. I'd have to jump back in and try again to tell you EXACTLY what the error message says, however it only shows in the fps command line thingy.
