Since i spend a lot of time grinding dil or ec for ships, i also spend that time thinking about wether i really want them.
Which results in me never regretting my purchases.
It's just one of those advantages that time-based currencies have over real money.
There is no impulse-buying.
I don't regret any, at the time of purchase I wanted them. Delta recruits used some older ones while leveling and I am not naive enough to think that a prior purchase of a "virtual" product, won't lose, well, lol, "value".
Now movies... Catwoman. How can you ruin a great character?, how can you make Halle Berry look bad? That is money (and memories) I wish I could get back.....
And what is with the Odyssey hate? Great bridge, SCI version works well, held its own at T5U.
1. Dyson battle science ship (Total garbage despite having a cmd tact seat and a 3rd tact console i can't make this thing work, my Fleet Nebula blows it out the water with only a lt tact and 2 tact consoles) (Tier 6 Nebula please, pretty please with milk and cookies)
2. Bortasqu Pack, Mainly due to the terrible turn rate of the ship, felt slow, under powered and just no fun.
3. Atrox kitty carrier, When it 1st came out it seemed pretty good, but power creep has kicked in and the C-store version is just a slow brick. The Galaxy R of tier 5 science ships.
4. Galaxy-R and X C-store versions, Both lemons, slow turning bricks with limited tact capabilities with to many engineering powers tripping over each other (Fleet Gal-X was an improvement, Tier 6 Galaxy is great thank you now we need a Tier 6 Gal-X)
And what is with the Odyssey hate? Great bridge, SCI version works well, held its own at T5U.
I think it gets a lot of hate because it turns like a brick. I mean, it has a wonderful BOFF lineup, what with a Uni Lt.Comm and Uni Ensign and the Tac Oddy is quite powerful, especially at T5-U, but, yeah. Brick turn.
The Varanus and its Fleet version, even though they're Gorn. Made useless due to power creep. Thanks, Cryptic.
The repair platforms are nice though. Not as high profile as a leech or AA, but still very nice.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
Mogh. I only purchased it to show KDF purchase power solidarity. And now their new model is to issue variants of the same ship to each faction at the same time. In the mean time I use my Hegh'ta as my "Science" ship while my Zen stacks up every month.
@questerius The repair platform on my Hegh'ta was a game changer. But they must have nerfed it recently because I find the repairs are now delayed and limited.

Those delays may have been due to latency. This patch is supposed to fix a bundle of those issues.

Mine was spending zen to open over 180 research and development packs to get the bug ship. What a massive waste of money. The ship is awesome but not worth the cash I paid for it.
If you had simply waited until the event ended and sold those promo packs on the exchange you would have over 2 billion EC and could've bought the JHSS on the exchange 4-5 times over... Just so you know. Lol
You can sell them anytime but they are worth more when the event ends.
The Bort 3-pack... I love the ship (I did some crazy/fun things with the brick), but the only useful version is the command version with SA while the other two are just..meh, not worth the zen for the consoles (and zero kitbashing possibility)
I hate the fact too I bought it as Geko was then trying to guilt trip us with the 'no bort sales, no more kdf' ships routine (yeah, I got suckered)
I also got the 3 pack bortasq and actualy using 2 of them depending on PVE or PVP,
- the TAC one for pve which give me +55k DPS (only 2.2k DPS are plasma explosion btw), more than enough for pve.
- the SCI one for the SA in PVP and the 3rd sci console slot.
Even after trying th T6 Mogh, which is awesome ship even in design, at least it doesnt look like a pregnant intrepid like on fed side lol, I'm still coming back to those 2 Bortasq.
The one I realy regret bying was that single tac scimi, despite it's specs I find it lot more slower that Bortasq (5 TR vs 7 on scimi) and most of the time I feel I'm not moving in that giant bat.
I also got sick of seing them anywhere so I started hunting players in Ker'rat that were flying it not with bortasq but with a B'rel bomber or even free T4 Bops with BO3
I also read people regreted buying the Oberth for 500 zen ?
you usualy dont buy it for the ship but the awesome consoles that give you +60 on 3/4 subsystems for +30sec and repair disabled subsys (depending on skills). and I also think they gave it for free at some pts.
- Fleet Luna is technically awesome too (awfull design I agree), only miss 1 eng ablity to be perfect for me.
so yeah after all I only regreat that tac scimi at the end.
Dark Side (KDF)
HOUSE OF BORG
"I am FLATULUS of Borg, Resistance if Futile! Prepare to pull my finger!"
so yeah after all I only regreat that tac scimi at the end.
Wow - that's the LAST ship I thought I'd see as a regret. Still the highest DPS rated boat in the game as far as I know. I kick butt in mine - the RRW Crit Happens lol. My regret was the Oddy pack. I got it just because I was getting sick of ships "not looking like Star Trek" and was determined to make them work. By the time I got them figured out - I moved on to other play styles that didn't involve cruisers. Might go back someday though - but what a useless console set IMO.
Not all ships are going to be the best, even at the time they're released. Not all ships are going to be the worst. Not all ships are going to be the best for a specific person.
I enjoy the Mogh quite a lot. It was my go-to cruiser before the Negh'tev hit and still sees plenty of action afterward. The Scimitar, debatably the best ship even now, not so much. I mothballed that one soon after purchase and is 2500z I'd rather have back. The Oddysey is too slow and also is 2500z I'd as soon not spend.
As for things not looking like trek, there's something to be said for tried and true. Even now having gotten the pilot escort, I keep watch for news on a T6 Defiant or Prometheus. But the year is 2409 or 2410, ship designs likely did not stagnate. That and this is just a game. Nothing here is real. If there is a good ship worth its weight in dilithium, I'd cash it in and get it, canon or no.
Overall i've bought a lot of ships; i only regret buying the Tholian Recluse Carrier which by all means is a fantastic boat. I've run a couple of STFs and after i parked it in shipyard. Right then i've learned that carriers just don't fit with my playstyle; at least science wise.
Dyson FED bundle. The way things have worked out no FED of mine can really make use of them while I've got two ROMs who'd love a decent tac-focused sci-ship.
Bipedal mammal and senior Foundry author.
Notable missions: Apex [AEI], Gemini [SSF], Trident [AEI], Evolution's Smile [SSF], Transcendence
Looking for something new to play? I've started building Foundry missions again in visual novel form!
Don't really have any regrets. I paid maybe 1/3 or less of the actual cost of my entire ship purchases thanks to the dil exchange and I didn't buy that many as I'm not an impulse buyer.
Retired. I'm now in search for that perfect space anomaly.
The Deihu for me. I really want a nimble science oriented, or sci ship on the Rom side and jumped at the first thing that came out post DR. And to make it worse I didn't really have the right gear to make that ship work. Now that I have the gear sitting in my inventory to make it work I don't want to play it.

The scimitar went from one of the most ridiculed ships (remember those flying bricks when it was just released) to one of the most lauded and cursed ships (because of DPS potential and thereby ruining the fun in PVE).

And what is with the Odyssey hate? Great bridge, SCI version works well, held its own at T5U.
The bridge was nice.
But otherwise, it was slow and clumsy and together with its appearance kept making me think of a beached whale stuck on the rocks bleeding out. It looked slow and clumsy, and it was slow and clumsy. Bad combination. I fell for it due to the consoles, and this was the point in the game when I learned that with rare exceptions- special consoles suck.
If they ever fix or revamp 'heavy pets' like the Saucers, MVAM, or the Odyssey's little escort- I might give the ship another look. Until then, it's on my "most wasted money list".
If you are Romulan, the Haakona has to be the worst of all. I find the T5 Ambassador Refit better without cloaking ability which utterly sad. It needs to be decomissioned.
For some reason I really started to hate my Eclipse recently. No idea why as it can be the deadliest Fed cruiser in game with the right kit and piloting but it just doesn't do it for me anymore.
Now i just love my science ships so i wish i'd spent the zen on something like the Dauntless or Scryer.
And not so much a purchase but I got a Vaadwaur Manasa from a lockbox and used it for my fed tac. Should have sold it, even going way underprice would have been more useful to me that that bucket has been. Still no idea why I opened it as my tac already had a Phantom which is a millions times better as it comes with a cloak, intel abilities, intel gathering etc.
The Andorian Ship pack by FAR. Ow yeah,, the Vulcan sci ship is a very close second. The T-5 ships they put out within 6 months of T-6 coming out. The Guardian is BY FAR the worst ship I ever bought. Yes it came in a pack, but if could trade it in for ANYTHING else I would in a nano-second. A couple of the lower T ships that had " cool" sounding consoles,, the Stargazer for example, because I have YET to use the damned console.
On the other hand I want this game to be around for a long time to come, so I as much as I may regret buying a particular ship, I tend to realize that buying ships supports the game, and I move on with my life. It's not like I haven't made any OTHER purchases in life that I regret...

Yeah! Finally another Bortasqu' captain that actually likes their ship. This lovable battering ram is still in use on my main KDF. Fell in love with it ever since I first took it out for a test drive and smoked an Odyssey with it. Granted that ship's now in drydock but the ship I immediately bought afterwards which is now my current ship can eject a Bird of Prey from its rear.
Tell me all you Bortasqu' haters, what other Klingon ship can eject a Bird of Prey from its rear?
Haha, snark aside, I do agree the captain of that BoP doesn't really hear the warrior's call. Then again, there will always be an "Alexander Rozhenko" in your crew.
