So I've been away for over a year, only logged in to do the holiday events (winter/summer). Yesterday I logged in to do an stf to see how the Win 10 update and dozen updates since my last log in have tempered with my key binds.
Good news is that they didn't, bad news is I accidently queued for Brotherhood of the sword and it popped and logged me in faster then I could back out.
I generally don't do ground stfs, though I have gear (full MK12 MACO set) and my bunker build was still intact (Mortar, turret, cover shield and med gen). The mission was a success and quick, I'd like to thank my teammates for not yelling at me as I died several times pulling fire.
To that comes my purpose here, with such a long time out I was wondering on the best ground set for engineers, I have full rank in most rep (Delta and Iconian still need work). But since I'm planning to be playing more in the coming months figured I'd at least get to work on improving myself.

Mines are good for the Heralds, especially since Thralls like to teleport behind you, and Vaadwaur like flanking.
I'd say Turret, Med Gen, Support Drone, Fuse Armor/Weapon Malfunction, and Mines would be a good kit module layout.
Set-wise, MACO is still pretty good. I'd replace the shield with either the Omega Force or Nukara Shattering Harmonics ones, as those have +Dodge chance (30% at mk 12, 40% at mk 14)
Last bit of advice, buy a Gambling Device. It's either 20 or 30 Lobi, or just buy off the Exchange.

Not getting the gambling device bit though, hows that help in ground combat?
The gambling device increases your CritH, CritD, and Dodge Chance all by 10%. If you lose, you can simply reuse it 45ish seconds later until you win. Then the buff lasts for 1 hour. Not compatible with Tribble buffs, but it's a lot better than any Tribble buff.
