T6 Mogai... The Morrigu

kodachikunokodachikuno Member Posts: 6,020 Arc User1
So between grinding dil and a generous friend(who was tired of me bi tching about the price) I finally snagged the t6 avenger/mogh/mogai pack. First thing I did was hop onto my main, decommission my old Ha'feh and give this new warbird the stuff from it. Just a no frills polaron build with mkXI dominion set, most the gear was mkXI or XII because I havent used the Ha'feh in ages. Took it through argala and the FE and I gotta say HOLY INFERNAL PLACE I LOVE THIS SHIP! What a gorgeous blend of maneuverability, tanking, and power!

I was less overwhelmed with the t6mogh and avenger, tho I gotta say they're kinda like real battlecruisers, hit hard as hell and maneuver reasonably well. Sexy ships to be sure, but the Morrigu will definitely be my ride of choice for all my Romulan/Reman characters. I hopped on my Reman and whipped up a bad DHC plasma cannon build from the scraps I had layin around... again green and blue mkXI and XII. But this beauty still rocked in tholian and borg RA and a couple random sector space events.

Thought I'd share, anyone else tried this ship and felt similarly? different? feel a different one is sexier/better?

Yup.. I feel the same.. even though I don't use it for all of my romulan characters, but yeah.. it's definitely my favorite romulan ship and among my personal top 5 of ships in the game, too :) !!!

Very partial to my Deihu, although I'm beginning to like the Baratan as well (it looks better to me than the Deihu, but I'm still getting used to it in terms of use). I also still love my Fleet T'varo stealth torpedo boat and my Daeinos/Fleet Daeinos. I have the Dinaes as well, but I haven't flown it yet; the same goes for the Pilot warbirds, the D'khellra, and the Morrigu.

The question was do you like the Morrigu, not "Please name all of the Romulan ships that you have." :p

And yes. It's a great ship. I've only tried it on one character, but it made an AP cannon build I had sitting on my Ar'kif since last year work superbly for me.

At the moment its the only t6 Romulan vessel I have. Id wondered if the Aelahl might fly similarly but with more eng focus and less useful trait.

I myself have always liked the Mogai vessel, for it's sheer looks and balance! In fact, I still have my tier5-u fleet version, that when I get enough to move on up to a tier6, it will again remain in my staple of ships!

I had always loved the Mogai, even in the earlier days of the Roms' release, even after the release of the Scimitar. Loved fighting with her in both PVE and PVP. It was my preferred Warbird to use in PVP. I was very cruel with the Mogai then. Pop Aux Battery, TAC buffs (CRF, BO3, APO3, etc), position, decloak, unload, fire Dyson Space Set's "Proton Barrage," then follow up soon with the IPB. If the target was "exposed" before I fired my IPB, well, there was nothing left. Recloak and move away, find another target.

Not to mention it was a canon ship design and not made to look like a sex toy.

The LtCmdr Universal/Intel station? Absolutely great on the T6 version. OSS3+EPTW3, thank you very much.

I am considering getting it....the I have always considered the Mogai/Valdroe/Norexan class to be the one thing of worth to come out of the Nemesis movie.

Out of curiosity, did Cryptic bother to give it the I.R.W. prefix this time (unlike the D'Deridex)?

No IRW prefix. So I slotted the IKS on it B)

It can take the IKS prefix but not the IRW prefix? Cryptic is really losing it.

    Better than RRW, brother B)

Given the choice, I'd slot "Pakled Special Forces" before throwing on that RRW prefix.

why do you complain about the prefix?
just leave it blank and input RRW as part of the name. thats how i fly a Fernghi Alliance Nandi, the F.A. Profitable.

Haven't played it to this day, but its pretty high on my Rommy "to acquire" list. I got two Rommy chars, tac and sci (both Klingon affiliated) and got the Valdore (console) and the Mogai Retrofit. I got the fleet version for both of them (which is not account wide and has to be acquired separately for each char), so all in all that have been four acquisitions in that direction already. The T6 version, with access to lieutenant commander (and therefore surgical strikes), a fifth tac console slot is a significant upgrade to an already pretty solid ship. The only bad thing which could be hold against it is that it lacks a fifth forward weapon slot (which the Mat'Ha raptor has and this was too tempting to pick any Romulan ship first, to be frank, but lacks surgical strike capability but offers a spinal disruptor cannon console). My sci settled pretty comfortably with the Aves Dyson Science Destroyer (free upgrade, yay) which turned out, quite to my own surprise, pretty beastly as a sci ride, capable of alternating between combat and support mode (sensor analysis), despite only 3 tac consoles. I can't therefore recommend the Morrigu or Mogai as a sci ride, its just more on the offensive side, but... as far as tactical options are spread out this is a very good option. The Scimitar may offer more raw firepower and the command cruisers more durability, the Faeht may be more nimble, but... if you like a balanced ship without any mayor drawbacks which is strong across the board its a very good choice. Its neither as sluggish as a Scimmi, nor as fragile as a Faeht. And being a warbird it has a RBC, the Klingons have nothing that large with a battlecloak. It can be compensated with consoles, but that, of course, is costing a console slot. I am not quite sure how it holds up with the new pilot ships (5 tac across the board, the sci-version looks very interesting, even if no commander level sci boff slot).

If you have all those other mogai, then you'll also be able to get the 3pc set when you get the moriggu there discloned :)
as to the 5th weapons slot? Frankly Im happier with a 2nd sci console than I would be with a 5th fore gun. I like this ship much more than the fed/klink versions.

You are of course right, i am very nitpicky here. Its a pretty well rounded ship with just no weakness, that is what it is. 5 forward weapon ships tend to be generally a bit overspecialized (in the end i outfitted the Scimmi, and i know some of you will facepalm imedantely, with beam arrays due its sluggishness, taking away, of course, any advantage it held by those 5 forward slots).

Since its general unlock i will get all the consoles for both, tho, including the ionized particle beam from the Mogai :)

Fleet hull... maybe... for my tac-rommy but not for the sci.

my two main roms have been running with this the most and the first has a polaron beam build rigged with mkXII dominion set nothing too fancy, gets the job done. My second has a build that will make most cringe... corrosive plasma build using 2 dual cannon, dual beam, plasma torp in the front, 2 beam array and a plasma torp in the back. Im using the Romulan space set on that one.

its my first... some fool bought a purple mkII ap beam I had made for 4mil ec, so I spent 3.8 on some corrosive plasma for this experiment.. honestly it kills TRIBBLE fast, Im sure it could be disgustingly efficient if I min/max'd it

I had been running on my T6 Mogai a very old school build but with a few modern STO tweaks.

    Bio-Molecular Disruptors
    3 DHCs, 1 DBB
    KCB, Heavy Disruptor Turret, Turret

    TT1, CSV1, BO3, APO3 or APB3
    TT1, CSV1
    EPTS1, ET2, EPTW3
    ST1
    TSS1, HE2, OSS3

Or replace the CSV1's with CRF1's for single target focus.

Power Prioritization: Weapons #1, Aux Power #2
    Dyson Space Set
    Full Mogai Console Set
Plasmonic Leech (Easy stuff when KDF/KDF-Rom)

I know in PVE-Land that "Spike Builds" are not sexeh and not favored for DPS. But I don't give a TRIBBLE and I can make it perform. Anyways, other than the more recent things possible, I used to run the Mogai for some spikes in PVP long, long ago. Come out of cloaks with your buffs, fire away, pop Aux Battery, fire Proton Barrage (Dyson Set bonus AOE ability), fire Ionized Particle Beam. If the target was "Exposed" before I fire the IPB, it damages much higher.

Typically, I don't fly with much in the way of ship-specific console sets. Maybe 1. But the Mogai's set goes very well together than most others.
