I am afraid that at this juncture I will have to withdraw my application for fleet Xtern1ty.

After witnessing Xean's vile outbursts and ongoing trolling of TheTradingChannel first hand: trying to pass himself off as a channel moderator, trying to claim some special relationship with PWE_LaughingTrendy and finally resorting to insulting everyone in the chat, I would not be comfortable joining a fleet with such a person at its head.

I simply cannot see how a person so toxic could create the sort of welcoming and relaxed fleet environment I'm looking for. In fact, I am certain they could not.

I have a pastebin of Xean's behaviour, but due to the repulsive content I am reluctant to post it here; a redacted version is available on request to those people who are having second thoughts about joining or associating with Fleet or Channel Xtern1ty, or the Xtern1ty armada.

Xean: You need to recognise that your trolling impacts other people, and it is not an acceptable or appropriate avenue for you to express yourself or your feelings.

http://pastebin.com/Bdc5dF1B WOW How dare you act like that in my channel? You should be ashamed of yourself! You have such nerve to even bother trying to coexist with this Star Trek community! You are just as bad as Starfleet Dental.

[5:46] [TheTradingChannel] Xean@xtern1ty: I don't cause trouble, a fact Trendy agrees with... how's your punk friends on the forums btw... liking their bans yet? guess it didn't teach you kids much about how to treat people

That is my favorite line. If the trendy is in the pocket of xtern1ty, I will glady take a forum ban.

baddmoonrizin, I'm arranging a conference for friends and allies. A few questions I'd like to ask,

    - How many active members you have?
    - Is your fleet a bank fleet?
    - If not, why you are only level 10 despite being around since 2012, only level 3 in kdf?
    - How did you hear about us?
    - Do you have teamspeak?

You may include your answers in PM and include a day and time when you're available. We'll try and set a meeting for sometime this week.

I sent you an in-game message detailing my answers to your questions. I hope they meet with your approval.

Thank you for the message, we'll set a conference up when you're available. Feel free to mail me at your convenience when ready.

No Ash, I don't. Just came from a conference. Got to talk to some awesome people today, everybody was nice and respectful to each other. And to top it off, teamed up with friends. Had a great time.

Is there something in that game I should check out?

Well, it's a first-person shooter made by Bungie, makers of Halo. Very Addictive gameplay mechanics, and gives me childhood nostalgia I haven't had for a long time. One of the best games I have ever played. It's very young, but it has a bright 10 years ahead and a huge story expansion is about to hit, making it even better..

Also has one of the best soundtracks ever..If you happen to have a playstation 3 or 4 and ever get it, let me know. I'm on there. They've got a sweet deal for new players for $60. You get the original game, plus the previous two expansions, and you also get the super huge expansion coming in September.

That does sound interesting, might check that out if I get the time. I like the ones with good graphics, storyline and if possible sound. An old time favorite from that company was the Myth series, attractive for it's realistic tactical gameplay and subject drawn from mythical sources.

Atm I'm focused primarily on work and when it comes to gaming, STO is a great place to be, all things considering. I especially enjoy the moments I get to spend in the company of intelligent players like you and so many others of understanding and sound principle I've met on here that totally make it worthwhile. Plus, Trek and science put together here, I'd definitely rank that among a favorite. And it's got elements of mythology too. Star Wars is a latecomer there and I'd say there are more mythological references in Trek on that topic. Case in point, the numerous similarities to the Odyssey.

For instance, the Nausicaan species is named after princess Nausicaa, the daughter of king Alcinous of Phaeacia and queen Arete. Oddly contrasting actually, since the Nausicaans as depicted in Trek are shady, unscrupulous characters; the opposite of Homer's telling of Nausicaa, who saves Odysseus when he's shipwrecked and kindly advises him where to go. Thanks to her, Odysseus ends up retelling his story in King Alcinous's court, who is the one who provides the ship that safely takes Odysseus home to Ithaca, where he mercilessly massacres those trying to take even his humanity and all that is rightfully his; to emerge victorious in the end, reunited with his courageous and faithful wife Penelope.

Also, the name Nausicaa means "burner of ships," which seems apropos for a species that is most well known for piracy. :)

lol, an apt observation. Obviously, the namers were aware of that fact and had the guramba to make it obvious...

I've also heard it was named partly in homage to the Hayao Miyazaki film Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind (also inspired from the Greek princess). He's one of the most renowned animators today and deservedly so, his works are inspiring in their own right. They blend the rich culture and folklore of Japan with exquisite animation. Spirited Away is a good example of one his amazing films. Superb story and imagery all wrapped up with his unique style.

I remember seeing Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind as a child. I have to admit though, one of my favorites of his is My Neighbor Totoro.

I seen several of his films like Kiki's delivery service, Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke... but not My Neighbor Totoro yet. Tell me more about it, what do you see stand out in the film?

I spent 3 years in Japan, and that's where I first saw it, so the everyday things that are in it remind me of my time there. Even though Totoro was made back in the late 80s, it's still wildly popular over there. Totoro and the Catbus are pretty enduring characters.

Yeah Nausicaä of the Valley was amazing - and it paved the way for Studio Ghibli too, of which I am a major fan. Such a shame that they are no longer producing - I loved their recent interpretation of the Princess Kaguya tale.

Wonderful you got to spend as long as you did, sounds like you had a great time there! His films must be, I heard Spirited Away earned more than Titanic in the Japanese box office. I will check Totoro out.

Hiyao has a way of depicting even ordinary day to day things that is endearing; whether it's baking a pie like the kind elderly lady in Kiki's or planting a field of vegetables like Sparrowhawk and Arren do in Tales of Earthsea. Though many of us don't live the tradesman lifestyle anymore with our modern city life, I think it reminds us of the way life used to be with family bakeries and small farms and tradespeople. Our ancestors lived that life for so long, for millenia in fact, that it's there still in our cultural subconscious. Even with our technical and hectic modern lifestyle, it feels like those quaint little things serve to remind us of the important things we strive for as people, each in their own way.

Good health, lasting friendships, constructive happiness, the important things life is about and also how evil works to derail that course in life. I think that's one of the reasons why Miyazaki's films are so popular, apart from style and storytelling.

That's great to hear Ash! I just might at that, I'm a voracious reader lol and I like writing too. Seems we share that in common.

I been really busy lately, had meetings all week, attended 2 conferences yesterday and today is the big day! I am looking forward to the afterparty, got a ton of party stuff prepared and high end purple ground and space gear, modules + millions of ec to give away to attendees. You're invited, as is baddmoonrizin. I've already invited all the members of our expansive network who can attend. Trolls and disreputable members of troll fleets including all those others who've been posting on this thread are banned from attendance; with the exception of the undercover nice players. It's going to be a safe and wonderful gathering of friends, we'll be converging at our starbase for this once-in-the-game event. Hope you can attend Ash, see you later!

Is this a Fleet Recruitment Thread or an Anime Discussion Thread? Because I seem to remember this is posted in the Fed Fleet Recruitment section of the forums. Can anyone clarify what exactly is going on here?
