If folks started identifying themselves by continent, that would be kind of trippy given the following: http://www.worldatlas.com/cntycont.htm :which was the simplest list I could find.

Probably but I've gotten away with worse.

I was just trying to relate to capnkirk4 you know? and his hatred for the Homos.

    It's a forum violation.
    It's the weekend.
They suspended one of the three mods they had. One of them tends only to appear for a select group of folks. One has a life. They're just volunteer mods.
It's the kind of thing that can result in a temporary suspension from the forums.
It's the weekend, though...so who knows.

Technically, the word in question qualifies as "hate speech" under the forum rules:
    Hate Speech

You may not create posts and/or private messages that allude to, contain language, comments, references, links, symbols, terms and/or imagery about and/or promote and/or otherwise support, in any manner whether directly or indirectly, hatred, discrimination and/or denigrations based on or related to race, ethnicity, religion, sect, color, national origin, age, gender, familial status, sexual orientation, disability status, veteran status, genetic information, etc.

That said, if the person in question edits their post and apologizes, maybe you will only get a warning.

A lot of people getting away with things on all sides of the spectrum. I'm surprised at how little is enforced ingame and on the forums. Most of the threads and ingame violations would be handled swiftly on other games i played. That includes f2p's. A GM's ingame and active forum mods presence has always helped those games.

It's kind of turned STO into a haven for folks that tend toward certain things...precisely because there's so little enforcement of anything either in game or on the forums.

The "Word" has been used multiple times on this forum and has not been censored or condemned in any way, if it acceptable to use that work to attack others then I don't see what I have done wrong.

I'm simply pointing out that it is against the forum rules. If you want to use "someone else did it first" as an excuse or defense, that's your prerogative.

Ayup...they moderate when they can, but it's not their day job. Even if it were, two wouldn't be enough to handle the amount of traffic these forums generate. Probably tied into part of the shift to the Vanilla forums, so it can be more centralized and tap mods from other games.

    You appear to misunderstand.

I am not pointing to the fact that someone used it before me, I am pointing to the fact that others have used the word to personally attack others and they were not punished in any way.

I think a lot of people will be pleased to note that despite the new forums' drawbacks, they come with a Report Post button that actually works. At least, it seems to on the user side; I have not actually had to report something for real over there. I think that may make a little difference, since reporting will no longer be a choice between a) navigate awkward support site and b) PM somebody even though we are not technically allowed to do that.
