Rep boxes not giving Iconian rep option

Pretty much the title. Crack a box and Iconian is not in the list.

WAI. You're not supposed to get the current reputation marks. They want you to play the new content, because metrics. But in a couple months, they'll put Iconian marks in boxes, which is a good time to do sponsored reps for alts.

The bird and monkey boxes give the option. I'm not sure what box you're talking about.

The Mark Choice packages you receive when turning in Birds and Monkeys DO currently contain Iconian Marks as one of the choices. But when they were added, we failed to update the text on the package. We've already done so internally, and it will appear correctly in the next patch.

Until then, feel free to open them. You'll see that Iconian Marks are among the choices available to you, despite not saying so on the box.

What old ones?

If they're pointing at the same tables that we now use for all mark choice packages, then they've already been updated.

If they're not pointing there, then they won't ever be updated. Those are deprecated, and should no longer be given out.

P.S., Quit hoarding. =P

FYI, just as an independent source, I can confirm that I've turned-in monkeys and birds on Risa and have had the option to choose Iconian Marks (and received Iconian Marks) even though the pre-open description does not actually mention Iconian Marks.

(I can't speak to old boxes from Winter or other sources... #QuitHoarding.)

I don't need more unrefined dil but I figured I'd rather use the old ones to buy Iconian gear. But honestly just won't bother now. I'll stick with my xiv Rommy engs and Nukara 2 pieces on my toons.

I can say definitively that I turned in a couple of birds from an earlier event and I did not see Iconian marks as a choice. I was specifically looking for it.

Now, I'll allow that maybe I missed it even though I was looking for it. I'll try again when I get a chance.

I'm guessing it would be slightly less storage to point both the old and the new boxes to the same table. You have to update the boxes every year with new reputation marks. Even if the old boxes are not supposed to be given out anymore, some people still have some. If the boxes don't point to the same table, then you would have to maintain multiple tables, a different one for every time you add a new type of mark.

its actually a really good thing to know, proper confirmation that ANY box stashed away, will only ever BE good for, what it WAS good for. now to clear out some space in my banks, and find something else 'not box like' to hoard.

I've turned in a couple tropical birds already. I scrolled down in the window that popped up and was in fact able to take Iconian marks. The marks were added to my Assets tab directly instead of giving me a box that I open later (well actually the box went into my inventory for a very split second and opened itself). The window that popped up was the same choice-of-marks window that pops up at the end of various PVE events in the queue. Check a box for the type and click the accept rewards button.

So, IDK man. Seems to be WAI for me.

Both of the old birds from the very first summer event gave me an option to get Iconian marks when turning them in. So for those having problems I got no clue.

However, as you can see in my screenshot, none of the bird trade ins say how many marks you get for each type and evolution of bird you turn in. Tooltips when hovering my mouse over the various rewards for trading in birds don't say how many marks you get either. For each evolution and tufted/non-tufted bird they are all labeled as "Mark Package - Multiple Choice". I traded in a fully evolved non-tufted bird and got 60 Iconian marks for it. I think a fully evolved tufted version gives you about 100 marks.

Good point, it'd be nice if the amount of marks it's supposed to give was mentioned somewhere.

And yes, it's been 60/100 for seniors/tufted seniors last year.

It's just funny that they've set it up now that it is best to hoard the actual birds and the monkeys for turn in the next year instead of just updating the boxes. I think it wasn't thought fully through.
