First off there is a lot right with the Risian event and a lot to like. I don't have a lot to complain about but I do have some issues with the event this year. I'd love to go off on the flag system which drives me nuts but that's another battle for another time.
The far bigger issue and my gripe is the Targ board in relation to other boards of the same price. Last year I worked to get myself the superior boards with a number of my characters. Those boards are now garbage if I want to win a race. They both cost 1500 but they are not created equally. Yes they don't turn as well but they turn well enough for the course and they are so fast that unless you have one your chances of winning a race are slim and none, especially if you are in an instance where your racing against a few of them. For what its worth a 500 favor board keeps up with my superior better than my superior keeps up with a Targ. Seriously! WTF!!!
I know people will say if you can't beat em join em and I've bought a number of them for my Klingon characters. Its not that I have an issue grinding for loluhnuts to get what I want but I have an issue putting my Fed characters on a Kling board. Last year we got the superior boards in three flavors...why is it that there isn't a Fed and Romulan equivalent to the Targ...it doesn't take that much work to throw a new skin on something. Its not just oversight...its either apathy or laziness for Cryptic to never take this stuff into account.
Also for the fanboys who are sure not to agree with me...I'm right on this so I DO NOT CARE WHAT YOU THINK!!!!

Now I agree with the OP. My understanding was that the TARGs were suppose be slower but turn better. Not the other way around. As the OP mentioned, even though the turn rate is worse on a TARG it's completely negligible due to the nature of the course. So, if you are trying to maximize your time and receive the best rewards, you have to get a TARG board which, again, is not aesthetically pleasing to all factions.
OP, please drop the attitude, many people (myself included) actually agree with you.
I just finished a comment in a seperate, yet simmilar, thread about the powerboard race. I really do agree that the Targ boards are overpowered.

Also this. Players decided a while ago they were perfectly OK with top-end gear becoming nearly obsolete the following year (if not less than a year later). Just because it happened with spaceships doesn't mean that things like hoverboards and floaters are immune to the same ideology.
While I do agree with you (people with Targ H.O.G.'s shouldn't have a clear unfair advantage), saying "Agree with me or you're a Cryptic fanboy." is not a fantastic way to start a meaningful discussion on the topic.
Sorry m8, but as a player I was not in on that conversation regarding gear becoming obsolete, so your comment that it's perfectly OK is not valid.
As for the original posters attitude, what do you expect after 5 years of getting shafted over & over, again & again, & having a bunch of whining fan boys give him grief & come to Craptics defense, when we all know he's right?

If you actually bothered to read the OP, half the issue is with the fact that TARG boards are Klingon... not just the fact that they circumstantially outperform boards of equal value. So it's not just about things becoming obsolete. However, I, or anyone else, shouldn't have to explain this to you since it was in the OP.
I believe I did that. I'm sorry you feel that I'm not posting my opinion in the way you wanted me to.
Which is half the issue. I responded to the other half of the issue. I'm also okay with additional mini-powerboards with design aesthetics pleasing to various tastes. There, now I believe I've sufficiently posted my feedback to the whole of the issue.
Or any discussion at all, really.
The OP clearly just wants to call out the Devs (something which is forbidden by the forum rules, for exactly this reason), and I submit that the only answer he'd accept from them is "you're right, of course, we'll fix that right away, is there anything else we can do for you, sir?"
It's not a shock at all, actually. Your attitude is entirely predictable, as is the response you are getting from your fellow players (this) and will get from the Devs (none whatsoever).
I hope venting made you feel a little better, as that is the sum total of what you have and will accomplish(ed).

and even if the devs would respond at all, why would they respond on a weekend?
Because devs are immune to California Labor Laws. Developers are supposed to respond to the beck and call of angry people on the STO forums regardless of their personal lives, no matter what hour of the day or night.
Waiting until Monday for a dev response (or the following week while they make decisions internally) is simply unacceptable when the outrage is this intense.
No California Judge will see Cryptic in violation of established labor laws when the subject of virtual powerboards in a video game is brought to their bench.

Yes...I do feel a little better. I'll feel even better yet when they fix this. But so sorry that I didn't know that it was against the rules to ask a Dev to respond, and frankly I don't care. If the mods don't like it then go right ahead and ban me. Look at my post count...do you really think not having the glorious privilege of posting here is going to affect my life?
Bottom line is that they really screwed up the race this year in relation to the targ board. Either nerf the board or make a Fed and Romulan counterpart. It doesn't take a genius to understand that there is a problem and that the solution is fairly easy.
Of course, a plain shocking pink mini board could have been done, but I hear those don't work on water.

The original post wasn't productive either. It was just an angry rant, one that happens to be against the forum rules. It's not going to get a response from the devs, or accomplish anything before the mods get around to locking it, except perhaps giving the forum regulars some entertainment and an opportunity to be snarky.
The OP might as well have gone up on his roof and screamed at the sky, for all the good it will do. (Mainly providing catharsis.)
