Last night I watched this documentary made by the son of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry called Trek Nation. This has given me a whole new appreciation for the franchise. I truly believe that the people that make and control this game should watch this.
Saw it and didn't care for it myself. I really didn't want/need to know what a bad father Roddenberry was or how he cheated on his wife.
There are much better documentaries about Star Trek IMO.
I understand what you're saying. For me, it made him seem more human. We all have faults. My parents weren't perfect either. Then again, I got much more out of the documentary than what kind of parent he was. To me it was a journey of discovery for the son.
standard thing in the end, humans are hypocrites, all of us. but thats what freedom is, dont always take it in a negative conitation, but rather embrace it because that is what we are, we make mistakes and we have to learn from it, but you can not go back home again, that door is closed.
so gene made mistakes, hes not perfect, and no one else is either. in that sense he found out for himself what was to come, like i have to at some point and like some others have already done so on here, or so they claim.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
Fairly evident Gene Roddenberry was human. I didn't need to learn about all his dirty laundry to understand that. The whole thing seemed to me to be Roddenberry Jr. acknowledging his father's accomplishment instead of being a spoiled brat over it. He even says on a couple of occasions in the film that he "hasn't done anything" in his life.
Well, yes, it wasn't earth-shattering to find out about Gene's "dirty laundry."
The documentary wasn't about Star Trek, though, and it wasn't supposed to be. The documentary was about Rod trying to reconcile his understanding of his late father. Star Trek was a means of doing that.
I thought it was good... not great, but good. It is a real look at the real man, not the "Great Bird Of The Galaxy" deification (which I don't care for).
Roddenberry was connected to both the CIA and high ranking occultists in the TRIBBLE/US government. He had been seen with L Ron Hubbard, Jack Parsons (Jet Propulsion Lab/ Saturn V Rocket Designer and head of the OTO). Of course you sheep are far too stupid to believe any of this.
Seemed more to me to be about a man realizing he hasn't accomplished anything in his life, so he's trying to cash in on his father's fame.
That's... cynical...
You may be right, but since both of his parents are now dead, he's in charge of the Roddenberry estate. Given that (to my knowledge) the Roddenberry family doesn't pull much from Star Trek itself, thanks to Paramount/CBS ownership... he doesn't strike me as someone "trying to cash in." Rod does keep a fairly low profile.

I find your kind clinging to ignorance as mildly amusing though also a sad commentary on human delusion...
You probably believe that a 47 story steel frame building can fall straight down in a few seconds due to an "office fire".
Who said I'm human? Maybe I'm one of THEM to taunt you? Maybe I'm part of AAS (Alien Analprobing Society) and I've come down from my spaceship in high orbit to "test the field" so to speak? Who knows? Who knows indeed!

Are Elvis and Michael still staying at home? Can you at least give us Andy Kaufman back?

Well I'm sorry, Elvis just left the spaceship we lost him (again). Andy? Nah he's staying here, we simply adore him! And Michael? He mumbled something about little aliens and then left for the great unknown... I'm actually a bit worried he took a lot of plastic with him O_O

When I was younger , I thought so too .
As I grew older , I began to see many of those productions as quite pandering .
Still good in a way , but very-very pandering to their audience .
Opposing that , and despite being produced by Paramount , and despite some pandering to NBC , this is currently one of my more liked programs about Trek .
It's not about the FX or the actors or the humanity ... , but in a way it is just that , but in a much less "Hollywood" kind of way .
I also liked Trek Nation for what it was , and I tried to avoid thoughts about "Rod cashing in" , as I felt that I would be falling into the same trap that Majel Roddenberry seemingly fallen into in the movie itself -- a type of defensive presumptuousness .
I'm curious as to which programs about Trek you do like ?
... ^^ Kellam de Forest rocks in a nerdy way in that link , as does George Clayton Johnson in his own weird and charming way ...

Actually, I think Buzz and Woody took Michael for some hijinks...
Even though he loves to take credit for many things...
I don't think he'd appreciate you implicating him in that particular fiasco.

Trek Nation is essentially a story of a son trying to connect with his late father, and doing so by learning to appreciate and participate in his father's legacy.

I can only reach those capable of independent thought/consciousness. Most of my New Age teachers estimate that is only 15% of humans.
"Go back to your football and Kardashians" as Jordan Maxwell loves to say...
Do you wear tinfoil hats in public too or just in the privacy of your own home? Don't want THEM to read your mind do you?
