predictions for Summer Event

Now we know that the Summer event is on its way my prediction what the ship is gonna be. Its gonna be either a Speed Boat type ship for the new Pilot vessels Or a something similler to that line of vessel

I had 960 pearls saved up for this year's ship, but I'm actually glad they're changing the currency like this. Getting the event ship on day one because you saved up an event currency last year is stupid.

I'm just glad they spent the time to give us a shop to spend them in. They didn't have to do that, you know.

Anyway, I'm seriously hoping for a sci ship that can equip dual cannons. In fact, I think a sci ship is really the only type that hasn't shown up for a summer or winter event.

Actually, people will still have the ship day 1, this didn't change anything and cryptic was silly for thinking it would.

Unless they take away the lobi purchase for whatever the new material/item required is.

I am still hoping for a taco truck with 5 forward burrito launchers.

Those people will have to pay to open boxes though, in which case, they deserve to have it early. They pay for the game I enjoy for free, after all. What really matters is that I'll get it too a few weeks later. As an account-wide unlock, no less.

Ironically, if they had put the pearl turn-in shop up with Delta Rising, most players would've spent their stock of pearls on spec points/free upgrades (maybe, just maybe, reducing the volume of complaints about the grinding at the same time) and Cryptic wouldn't have needed to change the currency at all.

Now its too late, the obsessives have ground their specs and upgraded their gear to max, and are complaining about losing the pearls instead of happily spending them on something they really wanted.

Way to (not) kill two birds with one stone, Cryptic.

Just as they deserve to be laughed at for blowing that many lobi/that much money on a ship they could have for nothing but a bit more patience. :P

Personally, I hope it's a new ship rather than, say, a T6 Pilot Corvette. Well, if it were a new model Corvette, that'd probably be ok.

It looks like it will be a week shorter even than last years

34 days. 25 needed for ship. I wonder if this means they are adding iconian marks to monkey and bird and want to limit the time because of that.

that's right mate, show them whos boss.
I`m sure they will think twice when they see you miss out on a T6 ship this year.

we all did it, thought we could beat the system and stock up on tokens from the events but cryptic caught us with our fingers in the cookie jar and slammed the lid shut.

missing out on free ships will hurt no one but yourself.

just be grateful that they are allowing us to trade the tokens for something and not just rendering them totally useless.

Noticed that as well ... but it's probably to force more people into "buying" Lobi ... if you miss more than ~9 days it's "spend Lobi, or miss out forever"

Wouldn't really surprise me, if they're going to exclude Iconian Marks from the Summer Event, though ... still no option from "Mulitple Choice" - Packs ... and only 10 days left till the Summer Event ...

Yeah, with the event currency being removed at the end that is pretty important to consider. Especially since 5 or 6 days may be shot to many people because of downtime. It starts to become a close shave.

It feels a little soon to me for them to allow iconian marks in the parrots. But I shall hope!

Wouldn't be that different from Undine Marks last year ... but a lot has changed since then ...

Probably depends on which Metrics are more important this time ... Risa or Season 10 ... *Metrics be praised*

I can predict the odds are I wont be happy...because the odds feel in favor for a Pilot flavored Escort of some sort.

I never really cared about bathing suits...

Will we be able to exchange this years currency for the stuff they currently letting you exchange pearls for? If so then it may be worth it to me...

I`m betting on yes, all the more reason to do the event with all of your characters and save the tokens + help to pad out the numbers for cryptic, whether we will be able to cash in during, after or next year is another question.

I also cant fathom why they are holding off on the adding winter and anniversary currency's as traidable, we all know they are going to go the same way so why make us wait to traid them in?

I myself predict I will park my toons at Risa, and have some fun R&R by playing the games etc there, and ignoring the rest of the games grinds for a while. During Risa I don't really run missions, or do much doffing.

I predict...people whining that it's not fair they can't win the surf race because they are only on a basic board...I predict people complaining that the basic jet pack is to slow and they can't earn the ship currency...I predict that people will complain that Cryptics time could have been better spent then making a summer event in the first place. I predict complaints, complaints and even MORE complaints. Ahhhh summer, it's a wonderful time of year...if you're not playing STO and dealing with the whiners.

Well, the complaints already started when they announced the ship currency change and disqualifying new players from the old ships, so that's not a prediction anymore.

Begging for extensions since day 1, almost certainly.

Some kind of Pilot ship seems likely.

They really should have something else to use the new ship currency on after getting the ship, since we can't save them for next year anymore. Otherwise there's going to be little point playing the event with alts at all. But who knows.

New recolors of the jetpacks and hoverboards, as usual.

Ico marks for the parrots, just as most players will have hit T5 already.

Based on the winter event patterns, some kind of generally-useful items like kit modulets maybe.

A bugged grindathon a la snow borg that gets unlocked halfway through, after several failed attempts to make it work?

I really hope they don't spread the infections plague that is map-restricted clothing any further, because this year I can't buy the ship with saved-up pearls and quit in disgust like I did last year.

Only once in all of the events we have received a science ship (Dyson Science Destroyer). The rest have either been an escort (Risian Corvette, Chel Gret, Plesh Brek), cruiser (Odyssey, Ambassador, Risian Cruiser, Samsar), or carrier (Obelisk, Sarr Theln).

It is time for a true science ship!

My prediction... More whining "I got screwed out of it because I can't use the pearls I have from whenever..." I got screwed over cause the event was to short and I don't have time to do it..." That is one of my favorites they don't have 15 minutes to play but post a zillion things in forum. Got a clue for them less yapping means more playing time.
Ah well you know just more of the typical stuff from the whiners that tend to TRIBBLE up things for everyone.
