A couple of times I've gotten stuck in the Alpha quadrant. My ship can't move or turn in any direction, and the only way out of the situation is to transwarp. Once I transwarp, my ship can move normally.

did you check to see if your engine accidentally unslotted?
I have this same problem, but i find turning makes my ship move. Also when I leave nukara prime, I get stuck in the sun and cannot escape it's gravity.... I go around and around, even in slipstream!
I have had the "stopped dead in space" bug a couple of times - I have no idea what causes it.
The problem with being trapped inside suns is new, since the changes to the sector maps. Nukara seems to be especially bad for it, but as I type this, my ship is swinging helplessly from side to side, trapped inside a star at Orias and no doubt about to burn up.
Why do we have physics interactions in sector space, anyway? The ships and planets we see are supposed to be icons only - graphic representations of something that would be invisibly small at the scale of sector space. But, nonetheless, our ships get caught in suns, hung up on planets, blocked by traffic jams around popular destinations - one time, even, my Risian Luxury Cruiser got its sails snagged on a passing Chel Grett and was dragged halfway across the sector before it shook itself loose. Madness, I tell you. Madness.
