A very interesting history you've compiled. Bravo! You know, if the half-million-year history is established as canon, this might put the earliest Gorn space empire in competition with the Iconians, and it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that the two powers entered into a conflict that ended when the Iconians sent the Gorn back to the technological stone age, the reptiles only able to progress again once the Iconians were driven from the Milky Way galaxy.

Well, in STO it's known that they had a very old civilization. We don't know HOW, but we know that they used to live on several planets, before they were a warp capable race.

There's a piece of Iconian technology that Fed players can find on Kassae IV, a world claimed by the Gorn as one of their ancient possessions.

    Coincidence?

I really like the Iconian speculation.

    There are still several possibilities.

It could be that the Iconians used the Gorn as slaves or servitor of some type transplanting them onto several other planets, but when the iconians were wooped the Gorn inherited much of that empire.

And/Or it could just be that a war and/or some several hobus-like supernovas wiped out the most populated Gorn planets...and they had to rediscover all their tech.

I love the Gorn - have two foundry missions on them (Carnosaur Sanctum and Exodus of Dragons) and looking forward to making more.

The Gorn seem to be the only non-humanoid star trek race that has a 'personality' that the Undine, Tholians, and others just don't have.

OP cheers for very good insights.
