You also still see one standing permanent guard as part of the Omega Task Force interaction area. I haven't been to the border of Sphere space in awhile, so I don't know if one still randomly floats there or not.
Borticus has unofficially said that they'll be removing the Typhoon from Fleet Support and Photonic Fleet when they get around to changing the coding on them.
I imagine that every other Typhoon will soon follow suit.

Key words here: unofficially.
Which means anything can change between now and then.
And with no idea of Cryptic's development schedule, "getting around to it" could mean 2 two months or two years. Assuming they actually decide to go through with it, that is.
He's right! And here's the proof, taken today while playing Capture the Flag. (The fact the text is blue confirms it is an NPC ship, too. Not the Fleet Support one.)
I find the quiet removal of the old starcruisers much more worthy to be sad.
Yes the are spacewhales, blah blah blah. (joke doesn't get better over the years)
But they where the only good and futuristic looking Cryptic made Starships for a long time. I'd love to see them coming back at T6. (maybe as science cruisers)
Wait, when did the Star Cruisers get removed? I still see a ton of them as mobs.
"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them." -Thomas Marrone

I write this in the name of my Character Adama:
Frak that decision, i want a T6 Typhoon with an updated, more detailed skin and a T6 Skin. I Always loved the nacelles on the Typhoon and the Cerberos.
If Cryptic don't want to take your money, I can step in and take it. I really don't mind, any amount will do. And since I'm feeling very generous, I extend this offer to anyone interested. Just like that.
I would like to take a moment to mourn the loss of a valiant, stalwart warrior of the United Federation of Planets. For 5 years it has stood vigil over its borders, fighting against Borg, Undine, Voth, Klingons, Cardassians, the Dominion, and every other threat that reared its ugly head. Now, it is abandoned by its creators, in favor of its younger, flashier siblings who, by all rights, shouldn't even be taking its place in the pre-Delta Quadrant era.
I raise this glass of Aldebaran Whiskey in its honor. You were much derided, much hated. You were looked down upon and insulted, yet still you fought. Still you came to my aid when my hull went below 50%.
Here's to you, Typhoon class. Noble warrior, honored veteran. You will be sorely missed. Rest in Peace, old comrade.
How was the Typhoon a "valiant, stalwart warrior of the United Federation of Planets"? The thing was a paper plane that I was able to burn easier then it took to type in my pw to log in. The Feds are better off without it.
Whatever happened to that design anyway? I think I read somewhere a long time ago that they were planning to "redo" the Typhoon a bit in design and release it as a player ship. That's one mighty craft I'd LOVE to see in the game rather then some of the crappy designs we've seen popping up lately.
the typhoon class redesign was never cast in stone, thats a perfect example of why i mention that when geko posts his podcast that the podcast needs transcripts to make sure its all there and there is no way he can get out of it, because people have the proof and geko has to follow it through.
whatever the case, the typhoon is in the cold now that leaves the jupiter class unattended.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

Like every other NPC ship when faced with vaping DPS monsters? Yeah.
I seem to remember the Typhoon formations being the HP sponges of the revamped Mirror Event. They were annoying. And one of the reasons why some whined on these boards about the Event being "too hard".
But in any case, using the performance of NPC ships as an excuse to not have it in the game doesn't jibe. Mostly because of the little fact that 99% of NPC vessels, including bosses, are paper airplanes versus fire when faced with player ships. Doubly so for power gamers with cookie-cutter DPS monster boats.

So why are you still here if it is dead?

We need a T6 Typhoon. So say we all
