I'd like some Lobi items...few items I've purchased over the years on alts I don't play much anymore.

    Where is the link...

It was a post by the head guy at Cryptic http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?p=23858201#post23858201 Last paragraph. :) (keep in mind he was referring only to ships from special events like the winter event breen ships, summer event risian ships, anniversary event ships like the dyson science destroyer and kobali samsar cruiser; I'm assuming it only pertains to ships we obtained by completing an event reputation project, so episode rewards like the free obilesk carrier don't qualify.)

No and no, and I'll tell you why: You buy those items with in-game currency, and so to get them you need to earn the currency and pay for them. I think you can forget being given infinite copies of them for free.

What would work, though, is to account unlock the other grind event rewards such as the Zefram Shotgun, Crystalline Antiproton Torpedo, and the like. I earned those fair and square just like the ships, and I would love to be able to get them on each of my characters or on new ones.

That would be nice for my Delta Recruit.

For the Summer event my only concern now is if the new ship has a console that is part of a set that I can now never complete.

A simple fix for that would be to include those consoles in the ship box, or give us a way to buy account-wide unlocks for them with Summer currency.

    No.

The tantrums over pixals was bad enough. People spent the last few months since T6's were introduced complaining about sub-par ships and now everyone wants one for their characters?

    Now we want more!!

    Pathetic.

Let me also add that most of the people complaining about the starship emotes, used "emotes" in their posts........ (like that).

Note. I do like the look of the ships, the RP value and the collectors value, but the consoles suck compaired to others and the ships are not worth the bile spewed in that thread.

    Lobi Ships: No...
But Starship Traits (Lobi/Lockbox or not) should be accountwide.
Beta, LTA, CE, Multiple preorder Versions, all Addon Packs except AoY, nearly all KDF/Rom and ~50% of all Fedships, over 25 LockboxShips, Endurer of Atari's "Year of Hell", but...
    unfortunately:

    NOT LOYAL ENOUGH!!!

I can agree with this, not because I have any lock box stuff but simply because I think it only fair that anything that was derived from spending money should be an account wide unlock.

not items like ship slots or bank slots and such but certainly ships should.

on the other hand no, because you knew what you were getting when you spent your money and should not have got these things if you did not agree to the terms.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

Specialization points should be account wide. I know this has been said before but it really is the only thing that will make this game Alt friendly again.

^Now I have to take everything back, because this is the best change I have seen in a while. The only problem that is left is the fact you are retiring older ships that did not follow this policy. Does this mean the older ships will also receive this service meaning any character can claim one of the older ships on the account. That would be nice.

you obviously didn't read the post, that includes all past event ships you have earned.

I would like certain lobi items to be account unlocks. Especially the infinite mk stuff. I could keep it and give it to a new character I made to give them a boost.

I could also see older stuff being able to go account as a lot of it has become useless. And we all know that PW is not going to update any of it.
    EXAMPLES:
    Long Range Sniper Cannon:
This was really cool before DR and the huge shield and hp increase on NPC ships. The 2.5% shield effect is like making scratch marks on the npc's shields now...if it were a precentage instead of set points it might become useful again.
    Tachyon Mine Launcher:
Same as above, the points it does to shields are useless. The POW is gone!!
    Tholian Sword
The rep one is actually better. This was before the nakura rep came out.
    Any clothing Options
In some cases there is just not enough options for clothing. We all know eventually this game will have 20 armors in the list because you cannot combine parts to make cool new ones. The KDF and RRF factions just have fewer options.

Lobi items up to a certain value should be account unlocks. It makes no sense that inferior lobi weapons are character unlocks - I can't even equip a full away team with future phaser pistols when their value (50 or 75 lobi?) is the equivalent of a lot of dollars. I coudl understand if the really expensive ships aren't account wide, but they should be reclaimable (if they aren't, I don't own any).

Further, fleet ships should be character reclaimable as well, even if they reset the mastery counter.

Best things to make account-wide? One thing comes to mind above all else:

    Lobi shop space/ground gear. Definitely.

While a waste of money currently (even with the sale going on) due to the fact that they're inferior to other similar items, if every new character I ever made could claim lobi space/ground gear I've purchased on my account, they'd finally be worth buying.

Edit: Also what this guy said:

I miss my alts, I really do, but thanks to Delta Rising, I can't afford to waste time on them thanks to the wretched specialization grindfest. :/

It might be nice if the event item or DOFF reward was account-unlocked, but of course not the other rewards from finishing an event.

Lobi gear makes sense to me.

Lobi ships will probably be a definitive no from Cryptic, because both Lobi and Lockbox ships also exist the way they are to reduce the availibity of ships and make them not too common for CBS. (Yeah, the other reason they exist is to make a ton of money...)

If they do then it'll be an account wide pool... if account has 50 and toon A uses 20... your left with 30... if toon B uses 20 more... your left with 10.

    There is not reset/refund...

Spec points dont need to be account wide... just reduce the xp cost by half... or make it so you get one for each mission you play in the Delta Quad for the 1st time.

    Ship traits would be lovely.
LockBox Traits/BOFF powers would be cool (ORBITAL DEVASTATION EVERYWHERE!!)
Lobi items would get me to actually spent lobi
Not sure if anything else would really get my attention.

    Lobi ships should be IMO.

    I agree.

In fact, I may be in the minority... but, I'd take Lobi ships over Lobi gear. Plus, I wonder if this is the first step in finding a SMART solution to ship slot problems.

Also, Lobi/lockbox/promo ships going account-wide would solve the Starship trait issue, to a large degree. It would also still leave the door open to the eventual addition of Reciprocity as a cross-faction lock box prize in the future (it's coming, we all know it).

I think, logically, going with what's being implemented with Event ships, that account wide unlocks for all Event rewards, especially those that require a grind to obtain, would follow.

Beyond that, as far as Lobi items go, at a minimum, I'd like to see Lobi costumes as account wide unlocks.

Traits are less concerning, but again, account wide would be nice.

As to Lobi/Lockbox ships, perhaps make them dismissible, but reclaimable on any toon on an account. The "active" ship would only be playable on one toon at a time, unless you had opened multiple copies of said ship. For T6, you'd have "reearn" the Starship Trait, but that'd be a small price to pay for the ability to effectively use the ship across multiple toons.

Aside from the fact that certain rewards just don't make sense as account wide unlocks and certain other rewards would actually devalue the game, I highly doubt they'll throw everything into the "account wide" bucket.

Nor was it ever implied that they would do that.

That said, I think costume items purchased with event currencies should also be account wide unlocks.

    * They're a category of item that could be useful for every alt on an account.
    * It would be consistent with most other costume unlocks, instead of as it is now.
    * The costume items are mostly seasonal, novelty, non-uniform items. Fun to get, but not fun to grind for over and over.

If the intent is now to allow players to stop cycling alts through certain events, this would be a helpful change.

As far as making Lockbox/Lobi ships account wide goes, there are a lot of factors Cryptic would need to consider before doing such a thing. I can think of two right off the top.

    1. Reasonable confidence that the move would actually increase, not decrease, master key sales by encouraging a wider set of players to take the risk due to the greater reward.

    2. Impact to the Exchange economy. At present, lockbox and lobi reward boxes command a high price on the Exchange. What would happen to the supply and demand if they did this, and how would that impact the game economy as a whole?

The supply might go up and drive prices down. On the other hand, the demand might also go down. For a real-world commodity, that would normally pressure sellers to cut prices. But for something like this, the seller loses nothing by holding on to the item as long as necessary to sell it at whatever price they want to get.

In addition to this, if the reward boxes became too common on the Exchange, and the prices went down far enough, one would assume that fewer people would end up buying keys in the long run. They'd just buy one off the Exchange and claim the reward on every alt. They might do that anyway, as it would still be cheaper than trying to get multiple reward ships for multiple characters. The fact is that EC's are essentially free in the game economy for those who are willing to work at it, so Cryptic would end up giving a lot of these away for next-to-nothing.

I'm not arguing that they should or shouldn't do it; just that it's not quite as simple as saying "Hey, let's do this!"

I'd agree that Lobi/Lockbox ships should be, at least considered to be, account unlocks.

The Zen cost of a Lockbox or Lobi ship easily dwarfs that of a C-store ship, and most players either can't afford to, or choose not to (because of the cost?) outfit their alts with said ships.

I am actually sitting on enough Lobi to purchase a ship but haven't because I don't know which toon to put it on should I buy one. Making them account wide would solve that problem.

I won't make a big deal over this, though, as making all event ships account unlocks was rather generous of Cryptic as it is, I don't want to 'rock the boat'. :D

At ~5 Lobi per box opened and ~$1 per key, a T6 Lobi ship runs the equivalent of $180, and it is only for one character. For that much being spent, yes I think you are entitled to an account wide unlock.
