Looking For Help With Pathfinder Loadout

auckaaucka Member Posts: 38 Arc User
Hey guys,

I'm working on a loadout for the Pathfinder flown by my Science Captain and was hoping to get some suggestions. Right now I have a couple Tactical Captains (one flying Cruisers and the other flying Escorts) who can top 20k DPS, and an Engineer who can top 10k in her Cruiser. 10k DPS is around my personal benchmark/goal. I don't really care to put in the extra work and expense of pushing for the higher altitudes of DPS.

With the Pathfinder I'm able to hit 8k - 8.5k on a consistent basis but it's driving me nuts that I can't get it over 10k.

Right now I am using Phaser weapons with a single Neutronic Torpedo. Up front are a DBB, an Array, and the torpedo. In back, an Omni, a Cutting Beam, and another Array. I figure for a science setup the weapons are probably less important than they are on other ship types, because there are fewer of them.

For equipment I'm using an Elite Fleet PartGen deflector, Elite Fleet Combat Impulse Engine, an Elite Spire Warpcore and a Kobali Shield.

For consoles I'm using the Bio-Neural Gelpack (for the bonus with the torpedo, as well as the BOFF cooldown reduction), a couple Fleet Neutroniums, 5 Particle Generators, a Phaser Vulnerability Locator and a Phaser Vulnerability Exploiter.

For Science BOFF abilities I run Science Team 1, Tachyon Beam 2, Tyken's Rift 2, Gravity Well 3, Hazard Emitters 1, Power Siphon 2, and Photonic Officer 2. I use Torpedo Spread 1 and Fire at Will 2 for my Tactical abilities, and also run Override Subsystem Safeties for an Intelligence ability along with Emergency Power to Weapons.

I set my power levels with max to Auxiliary and everything else into Weapons.

DOFFs are all Rare and Very Rare, Projectile Weapons Officer, Warp Core Engineer, Damage Control Engineer, Deflector Officer, and Gravimetric Scientist.

I'm sure I'm probably on the right track but obtusely overlooking something.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Yeah, the only difference I see in equipment arrangement is that the Pathfinder has more engineering and fewer tactical console slots, but that's largely moot when using a lot of universals anyway.

I will also have to modify your BOFF assignments a little. The Pathfinder has a Lt. tactical and a Lt. universal, so I won't be able to get Attack Pattern Omega.

Only question I really have, is whether Tractor Beam Repulsors is that good, to replace Gravity Well 3 as the Commander Science skill? I've never really used it.

Finally, when you say 47k in one hit, do you literally mean one hit, or in a full ISA or patrol mission parse?

    Thanks!

For "pure" science ships, the Pathfinder and Scryer both seem to fit that bill nicely. If I ever get the hang of flying the Pathfinder I may upgrade it to the new Fleet version.

I guess it's not really that surprising, I've never really been good with the magic-using classes in other MMOs, either. I have a very Leroy Jenkins, head-first, brains-last style of play that seems very suitable to hard-hitting cruisers and a handful of escorts (I'm looking at you, Tempest and Mercury!).

I recommend 4 part gen from the fleet embassy and the exotic field exciter which also gives part gen. The solanae deflector and the GW/TBR secondary deflector. Be sure to have science R&D skill.
You may also consider the Vaadwaar anchor from that lockbox - it's pretty cheap on the exchange.

I run the double tractor pull with the repulsors with granga mal duty officer (around 15 million). It kind of kicks a$$. Along with GW and tykens. I use the mini grav well photon torpedo along with phased biomatter. But that weapon choice was purely a whim.

This ship always places in crystalline. Often first.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, it's all ancient history. Then - before you can blink an eye - suddenly it threatens to start all over again."

"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."

Here is mine. Parsed at 35k with not so ideal ping.

My current changed slightly though, with KCLW down to 1 and two copies of TSII. Haven't parsed that properly yet since the gods of ping haven't been cooperating.

It's definitely a fun ship to fly.
