the tutorials need to be mandatory, with at least one puzzle that has a different (but obvious) answer every time. for one reason. to stop the gold digger spambots. if they are a real person they log in with 15 or 20 accounts at a time skipping the tutorial, spamming our chat 3 times, and logging out never to be heard from again.
more likely this is a spambot program. make the tutorial mandatory and pop that puzzle in so the bot cant be programmed to get past it and perhaps we can have some relief from them on zone chat.
and remember cryptic these people are likely trying to bite into your precious profit margin. so there's ur incentive to shut em down.
I don't think you can skip the tutorial as a F2P account. I could be wrong. If they want to pay for a subscription let them. cryptic is them getting money and all anyone has to do is turn off zone chat.

They are mandatory... for first time players. If you are making a second character on an account then you can skip the tutorial.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

I always wondered why they couldnt make the chat itself a spam net .
A player posts the SAME EXACT THING 3-4 times in a row they are sent an automatic test to which they must respond. If they fail to respond, they are flagged and kicked. If the same account is flagged a second time, they are banned. So forth and so on we already know the chat system will auto-penalize you for certain word or phrase usage so this shouldnt be too far a stretch to implement. No player should use the symbols $ or USD, etc. so make them insta-bannable offences.
AS for the players that might use the same phrase for legitimately selling in-game goods, remember the automatic test they can answer it and move on hassle free
But in the end, they are just annoying and easy to block/ignore... if they genuinely interrupted gameplay, then I'd be po'd.

"-Hey guys, did you hear? PWE is offering Sela-shaped punching balls for $20!

volunteer chat mods with a little more moral grounding than the forum moderators have , and allot more of them. 1 mod to flag an account and mute it for review and 3 mods to review and ban the account.
like say i see a spam bot i flag it and its muted automatically but not banned.
the flagged account pops up on any other chat mods online with its text message. they review it as soon as three of them also flag it equaling for reviews its banned.
i know id do it for free. sure many others would aswell. and be hard to abuse it with 4 needed.and if one unflaggs it it becomes a vote for possibly 6 mods to review
Trophies for killing FEDS ahh those were the days.

FTP can skip the tutorial. first timers at the time I started could skip the tutorial. new toons on an old account can of course skip the tutorial. I got curious one day and used STO Gateway on one of the spammers. it was a Miranda class with starting weapons set. no mark to em. means that it was at the very least a new character. make the tutorial mandatory across the board. annoying for old players, but it might stop the spammers.
the number here wouldn't work. spambot spams 3 times, the account is logged out and never used again. it would need to be a string block only to hit it first time.

"Gold" sellers have been an issue for over a decade now in the MMO world, and the issue here in is the culprit itself, the people.
If people actually used their brain for 2 seconds and say hey that's not a good idea, itll take me longer but im going to earn said gold the proper way,

Gold sellers wouldn't exist.
Exactly... The world is full of people who fall for every seemingly great thing that comes along. Whether it be in MMO's or the real world. Gold sellers take advantage of this, and since there are still large numbers of people who fall for it, they have a reason to continue to spam zone chat. The problem will never go away until people wise up, but that is likely to never happen.
A mind overrun with far too many alter egos. Caitians M'Grek and R'Rak, Ferasan M'Tas, Tellarites Gav and Gral, Bajoran Kira Mabrin, Liberated Borgs 7 of 11 and Six and Two and Ten, Reman Rakrikas... and far too many ships to even count.
Mandatory tutorials isn't going to help because the spammer is probably using a TRIBBLE, stripped down client that somehow makes it through any fault checking or a stolen abandoned existing account.
The only thing that stops a gold spammer is if there is no market for them, but as long as there are lazy people with more money than brains, always looking for an easy way to get things, you're going to have a black market ready to take advantage of it and them.
Mandatory tutorials would just penalize legitimate players, the scum would carry on business as usual.
If something is not broken, don't fix it, if it is broken, don't leave it broken.

Quite a few seem to do this as well.
Or, have server police, that check the chat for such folks?
Then again, many seem to post directly to your mailbox.
Annoying.
But nothing more than just that.
