This isnt a build question per se, but a question about preferences. I have a T6 Phantom Escort (and love it) but have fitted it with plasma weapons. Why? I use the crafted plasma torp for the lingering plasma burn it gives. I also have fleet consoles that not only help with shields but have a & to add a plasma burn to my weapons . However, as many of you know, the Phantom comes with a Phaser Lance .
Unlike the one on the Gal X, I actually use this one. It deals over 10K damage and guarantees a subsystem failure. My question is, should I reproc my weapons to a fleet phaser build to take complete advantage of this lance or is it worth it? I can still have the plasma burn due to the consoles but
What would you do with your Phantom? Ive never been a fan of Phaser weapons but still enquiring minds want to know.

Well... I slapped some Phased Biomatter on mine. Then again I also use the Phaser Lance so I kinda needed phaser to maximize the damage of the lance as well. But Phased Biomatter is pretty fun since its not traditional Phaser.
Ultimately its up to you. Maybe when it comes to ships with an associated console or weapon of a specific type I lean more towards equipping with similar weapons to capitalize on them damage wise.
Could go fleet or invest in some Phased Biomatter for the AoE chance instead of disable chance while maintaining the Phaser output.
I've used it with Romulan Rep plasma, Tetryon, Polaron on different alts and they all did fine in PVE.
Unless you do PUG PVP it's not going to make a huge difference whatever you pick, so you might as well just pick an energy type that you like.
Sure, AP is "best" for dual beam banks because the devs will only let us use 1 crafted omni beam while AP gets 2 - 3, but any type will let you crush your enemies, see them driven before you and let you hear the lamentation of their women.

I've thought about the PhaBio weapons, to be honest... and I tend to agree, if you have a console of a particular type you /should/ work to maxamize its effect.
Question: your lance... what's your damage output?

Considering I'm more casual... probably about the same as you, maybe a bit more with the Fleet Locator consoles I'm running for Phaser. I've taken some pretty good chunks out of enemy ships with that thing for sure though.

Ya, it does well when their shields are down... I might play with some builds and see... the ONLY problem with teh Phantom I have is the lack of tac slots to really play with... 5 seems like a bunch but still... another reason to choose your weapon type carefully...

I filled those slots with... 4 Locators and the Lance if I remember correctly.
Seeing as how the Phantom does have that Lance, getting the most out of it does force you into a Phaser build. So to that end, Phased Biomatter is the only Phaser variant I suggest using at all.

Phaser Lance Console should be left out of a build if you are trying to max DPS. You get one second of firing, then 1 minute and 59 seconds of nothing. Anything is better than nothing for those two minutes.

If you're already heavily and optimally geared for Plasma, you may as well stick with that. The Plasma Lance Console for the Phantom is a nice alpha strike enhancement but if you're not specced for Phaser, you shouldn't even bother with the Console.
I have 2 characters that fly Phantoms on occasion and the only one that uses the Lance is the character specced into Phasers.
It's still a good console if you're not a Phaser build, you can use the Lance to expose your target, and even if you're not using Phaser if you hit them with the Lance while they're already exposed you get a pretty nice little burst.
Overall though, it's not as worth it for non phaser builds. If you ask me, it's borderline rather or not it's worth it even if you use Phasers. As someone already said, it's a console that works once every couple minutes and does nothing the rest of the time. Argument could be made that you're better off using the console slot for something else that gives you a continuous benefit.
Personally, I use it on my Phaser Guy because it really can be a huge hit, but on my main who doesn't use Phaser, I leave it off.

I went in and swapped the plasma out for a biophaser build... crafting the consoles now to boost phaser power and.. well, we'll see.

My Delta Recruit flies a Phantom using a Phaser build.. that lance hits really hard with Phaser boosting consoles.
I still don't think it's as powerful as the Nadion Saturation Bomb, but it's pretty nice. I think you'll find it's worth keeping on a Phaser build.

It looks cool though.
