"You need to be level 10 or have chosen an allegiance to play this mission" - nope.

Right before server down I was hoping I could get my 2nd Delta-guy to play uneasy allies once to unlock the mission to replay and get the gear before it is locked behind lvl 60 (something I probably won't achieve with this character ever :D). This message kept teasing me - in the end, I rushed the char to lvl 23, completed the first romulan story arc and it still, not even after unlocking sector space travel, would let me play or even accept that mission.

Romulans are the red headed stepchild of half arsed minifactions, that's true - but this was ridiculous. In addition, the message given when trying to accept te FE is a blatant lie. I probably have to be lvl 30 and complete all the obnoxius romulan story missions...

    Same here.
Two romulan Chars could not start at Lvl 10. One romulan has could start der mission at lvl 21, the other one is now 23 but can not start mission.
Alll other chars (fed & klingon) could start at lvl 10.

Today the mission will be lvl 60, so ...

For whatever reason (although it's a moot point now, of course), Romulans needed to complete the mission 'Bigger Picture' before they were able to hail VanZyl to play through Uneasy Allies. Having the bonus XP week skyrocket you well past the minimum level required probably didn't help either, unfortunately.

Didn't make much sense, as Sector Space travel was unlocked before that, but... *shrug*

You know, a (relatively) simple solution would be making the Promotion missions separate from the story, and removing the border restrictions when you complete the Promotion for level 10. The queues and teaming could remain restricted until you choose an ally, but the way Roms progress really doesn't work well with XP events and/or these special Episodes... especially when you want us making new characters.

Really though, I was rather disappointed when I saw the Patch Notes bumping the level requirement to 60 before the end of the Delta thing without adding another special Episode that would trigger this. It seems a tad counterintuitive. Especially with that awesome free Upgrade mechanic that was built into the low Mk Rom Navy stuff (which I didn't discover until level 53ish, after picking up my second Armor for that character, but it's still awesome).

Ah well, found TRIBBLE until level 45! :D

    *EDIT*
<cleared for space, see above post>

Oooooh, that's even stranger... they really do need to untether the Rom story/rank, it makes things really wonky.

this has been a standing issue with Romulan characters and FE for a bit, you have to do the bigger picture one, for whatever reason that is what "unlocks" sector travel for your character

STO isn't canon, and neither are any of the books.
