What if I don't chose a faction?

realisticaltyrealisticalty Member Posts: 851 Arc User
Out of curiosity, and in the hope that i can finish levelling byt he end of the event, I went and created a Delta Recruit Rom.

At level 11 I was asked to choose to align with a faction, and I noticed I had the option of doing it "later". What happens if I don't ever choose? I've always chosen on all my other characters.

Someone a long time ago tested out what would happen if you refused to choose a faction and instead just confined yourself to Tau Dewa.

It was an interesting thread but it was a long time ago. But basically, you don't really progress in the game. You *can* get to level 50 which is what he ended up doing, but even then the options were untenably limited.

You'd be restricted to playing the same few levels over and over. No way to break out of Tau Dewa. No access to the queues.

But with sector walls coming down and doffing... You could get to level 60. You wouldn't have access to the spheres or delta quadrant though I don't think?

Since access to the spheres is completely storyline based, I'm pretty sure this is correct.

ETA: A possible workaround?: During a feature episode rerun do they reduce the required level to 10 like during tbe first run? You might be able to transwarp out that way.

A friend of mine ported his delta Romulan(who hadn't chosen a side yet) to tribble for testing. They can now go anywhere in the Beta Quadrant But they can't really DO anything anywhere. Access to almost everything in the galaxy map is tied to faction and if you're factionless you don't have access.

transwarp yes but this current featured episode you need to finish the 3rd mission after selecting a faction. otherwise you can NOT do the FE.

Well thats just a plain lie...

You can still progress through several means, however the pace will be significantly slowed, as you need to either DuOff your way through or Join with others and get shared missions.

I should know... I've done it.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

I think they should get rid of the "choosing sides" aspect. Or they should give Romulans acess to all Unioforms and most ships of their allies. Especially since the War is officially over and Romulans don´t have access to the Klingon-Fed War missions anyway. We could just get access to the rewards of both factions but only select one. Most of the missions we fight for our own cause or for all species: Task Force Omega, the Cardassian missions...

You *can* level to 60, and even do some of hte featured episodes, but a lot of them are bugged for factionless roms.

For instance Sphere of Influence won't complete if you don't have a faction.

What you would have in that scenario is an entire server full of nothing but Romulans picking and choosing the best of everything from each side. Not to mention everyone would probably be in the same ship.. a Scimitar with Reciprocity and a Plasmonic Leech. :D
