Why do we have an announcement that is feedback garbled?
I realize that it is an attempt at "realism" but one hopes that in Star Trek's time all these stupid everyday annoyances will be bred out of the gene pool by then.
My favorite is the brief downtime for the exchange at 14:00 hours that someone thinks we need to be reminded of every 30 seconds.
I've often thought that one would be confusing to new people as well.

Eh... I don't mind the background noise. It actaully makes ESD feel like a real facility and not just a place. My problem with Delta Command is its sooooo quiet.
ESD: Announcements and other noises.
K-7: button noises and the attention whistle
DS9: "Crowd" noise
Delta Command: Almost totally silent.
The funniest announcements (also occurring in the fleet base) are the white zone/red zone references. Not enough to infringe on Airplane, but enough where you know where the devs were going with that.
The other ones I like from ESD are the ones announcing incursions in sectors not far from Earth, that seem to be calling out Undine attacks. Chilling and reminds you the Federation is on high alert.
I wish the "Condition Alpha" announcement would shut up though.

The first time I heard that lady say, "Condition Green is in effect." I kind of shouted at my PC, "No it's not. That doesn't even make any sense." Of course, I was chuckling since it's a direct Captain Kirk quote from TOS ep Bread and Circuses.
Honestly, the entire idea of a PA type of system in the 24th century makes little sense due to Combadges and PADDs, but the silly lines make me smile. In an odd way, arriving there and hearing those phrases and noises make ME feel like I was finally home.
I'm not so sure a PA is outdated. Which is more likely to fail in an emergency--a wireless network (even in space) or an analogue, hardwired system? My thought is for emergency purposes, you want both. Just like you can push text notifications or robocalls to warn people there is a tornado in the area, but I still want those good old fashioned tornado sirens working and with proper coverage in all populated areas.

darn, makes me wonder......has she been calling for help this entire time?
I actually like Delta Command's ambiance best because that place is much more peaceful and relaxing to park with it's gentle hums and other subtle sounds, and it has absolutely all the NPC's you need too.

"The Federation welcomes our friends from the Romulan Republic"
"We remind you that the water fountain is not for recreational use"
Like they're aiming it AT the romulans lol.
