In the new episode there's a certain point where the player is forced to overcome a series of instant kill objects (unfriendly looking beams and friendly looking gas jets, guess which one I hit.)
Well during my last playthrough the respawn point for that segment was set to the NEXT area in the mission, IE. in a part of the map which hadn't yet been fully loaded and was behind a door to the previous room which was permanently locked. Exiting the mission didn't help because the location "unknown sphere" is inaccessible from the sector map. So the result, full restart of the new episode (and it is a rather long one) when one of the very lethal devices does its job properly (so the question naturally comes to mind: playtest?)
I'd report on a repro if it happens...but I'm very keen on avoiding this bug so hopefully I won't have to. Tip of the day: DON'T DIE until the next patch.

Just got killed in that spiral/circullar beam trap too.
Got respawned on the other side of the next door - but the door itself is still locked
and the mission is broken on this point - so until it will get fixed i don't even bother with it anymore...
That what happens, when the developers do not even put missions on test server before adding it to play
You actually get locked on the other side of that door even if you don't die in the booby trap room.
After the trap room, you and your team watch Sela confront Taris but when the scene ends, Sela is back in the previous room and you're trapped on the platform behind a locked door with no way to get to her to advance the next stage of the mission.
Add me to the mix. Died, respawned behind a door and can't continue. I decided to beam out as the OP did and wound up with the same problem. I figured I'd log out and back in in the hopes it would reset, but now there seems to be trouble with the login server so I can't even get back into the game at all.
Why do I even bother trying to play on patch days anymore?

So even if you don't die, you can't complete the mission? *facepalm*
I'd say "Why don't they test this stuff before sending it Live", but that's been asked to death.
Hello. My name is iamynaught and I am an altaholic.
Attempt 2 - successfully passed kill-traps (not hard when you realize gentle steam=death), but sela doesn't load in the next cut scene. Can't talk to her, stuck on the same platform with the same non-working door I have to get through.
This mission doesn't work.

Yep. I've experienced the same 2 bugs. Also you can't beam up then back down from this point as you're in another galaxy!
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, it's all ancient history. Then - before you can blink an eye - suddenly it threatens to start all over again."
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
I just noticed that the Beams themselves are off set. They are not coming out of the rotating emitters but in stead are a few feet ahead of the emitters. Idk if that is just me or not.

Actually when you get stuck after the cutscene the prompt is to go to the Nepoda (or whatever) base, not "unknown sphere." I've got to take care of other things ATM (can't find out myself till later today) but there might be a beam-out-in work around with one of the two bugs.

they probably tested it with god mode or something. same problems have been happening somewhat frequently.
Now clowns, that's another story. They scare the crap out of me.
We fight them too. Entire armies spilling out of Volkswagens.
We do our best to fight them off, but they keep sending them in.
Update 3: if you successfully complete the kill-puzzle and get stuck beyond the next door, you CAN complete the mission. Beam out, fly to the Nepoda system, and beam down. You'll start off at the point in the mission following the escape from the sphere. There's certainly something you miss but its not hard to surmise what must have happened.
"Oh no, we can't leave you behind Sela."
"Shut up you I'm making a poignant self sacrifice."
"Will we ever see you again?"
"Sure, in the sequel."
There's a cutscene after that which hits on the big plot point the mission sets up for S10. Rewards pay out just fine.

I was playing along, and thinking:
"This is a bit of a long one, I hope nothing goes wro...
Aww nuts"
Welp that's about 40 minutes I'll not see again. Thanks Cryptic. Shall I add "play-testing" to the Cryptic English dictionary, alongside the meaning of the word "optional"? :P

Ditto. After two deaths I was beamed over to next room. Also, there is not way to re-enter the mission, noted above as "inaccessible from the sector map" at the point where transwarping takes you to.
This is frustrating as I played the mission on Elite and I spent a bit of time fighting to defeat two Romulan warships. Also to note, one of the warships completely regained it's health after I died and respawned.
Please correct the respawn advance and sector space door issue.
Don't drop the mission if you're bugged. It will just bug for you in the same spot.
Instead beam up and either 1. travel to Nopada in Psi Velorum and get the mission complete but miss a piece of plot or 2. wait for a fix if you want to see the plot development before continuing.

Going back to Nopada in Psi Velorum just sets me back at the start of the maze. I die and am sent back to the advance room.
Multiple issues:
1) Dying while trying to solve the maze sent me to the next stage without allowing me to advance further, i.e. no cutscenes appeared.
2) Solving the maze let me advance to the next section. Cutscenes were included. However I was not given the option to advance. I beamed up, then clicked to advance the mission, and was able to solve it.
Update 4: attempted mission again with another character (after the late 3/26 patch). Um, sela still doesn't spawn in for the cutscene. Progress still blocked (but beam out to sector block work around is still viable. The mission is completable, minus a bit.)
Potential variables (in case its not always broken):
I skipped previous cutscenes (the last one the moment I saw sela absent). I have also been setting my officers to stand at custom rally points while running the kill-puzzle (since I wanted to be sure I didn't vaporize the little duckies.)

I have tried dropping and restarting several times, she is despawning and I cannot "talk to her" to continue, at the point were it "sounds" like she punches the romulan off the balconay (dunno case she ain't there)

It wouldn't be a Feature Episode if it didn't feature a bug.

Edited to add...

Made my way through the whole mission, died in the trap room and got stuck on the other side of the door.
Tried to relog but now getting the 'Login2_Timeout' error message.
