The new Iconian PVE - Herald Space Elite - Completed first by the DPS Channels

snipey47asnipey47a Member Posts: 485 Media Corps
Hi All,

Check out the new Iconian PVE in Elite form. This is an extremely challenging PVE but very enjoyable at the same time. For those who don't PVP, you will find out for the first time what it is like to encounter the Intel abilities. That is what defines this PVE! Encountering Ionic Turbulence, the AoE Subnuke and EMP Probe was fun but does highlight further changes needed due to lack of counters for these abilities.

We hope you enjoy this PVE.

Thank you to the DPS Prime, Wizards and 50k Channel members who were in this recording:

why does he have scattervolley on an all beam setup?

why does he have scattervolley on an all beam setup?

Most of the DPS Scimitars now have a Torp and Cannon ability on to trigger traits. Helps quite a bit with All Hands on Deck and Inspirational Leader.

Haven’t watched the video yet but my guess would be to trigger the inspirational leader trait.

the best moment: when the scimitars are destroyed. thx for the vid, btw. but this new battlezone seems just an other pew pew zone; i'm disappointed

It's a shame. One would've expected it to perhaps take a page or two from the MI playbook, and add secondary tasks that can help things along. For example: during their first battle in the sphere, perhaps the exit gates could be interacted with (destabilized) to render them briefly untraversable; science ships would either complete this interaction faster, or create a longer-lasting destabilization effect.

It is also apparent that the model for the Iconian dreadnought/flagship isn't ready yet, if they're using a Sheshar-class as a placeholder.

I was thinking the same thing. With the group completing it (well done and nice vid btw), it may have just been how it was played. Just because they DPS raced it, doesn't necessarily mean it's the only way. The stage timers strongly imply that it is, though.

Because those gateway effects TOTALLY don't look like jump-points to Hyperspace...

Half-expected Sheridan to come rolling out in a fleet of White Stars...

    Nice vid. :)

Did 1 of the mark choices say Iconian (something) marks? Another rep grind coming?
Well excuse me for having enormous flaws that I don't work on.

I know! :D How awesome is it? :D:D I'm thinking of all the times that I read in threads when concerns were being raised about the intel abilities that "Pfft I don't PVP so I don't care"

Odds are a new lockbox as well!

Wondering what those nifty blue beams were, most likely either something a newly obtained lockbox ship comes with possibly or, the next new lockbox weapon flavor!

Well, if Cryptic follows suit with previous ways of thinking... you won't see the Herald Lock Box until the fall. They usually wait a 3-month cycle to release the "new baddie" stuff in a lockbox. We'll probably get some throw-away lock box next (more DQ ships?).

It'll be soon, for sure, though.

The rumor I heard was Xindi.

Someone linked in chat a pic showing that the Mobulai pet descriptions had changed and now made mention of a Xindi T6 ship. I think it was either Xindi-Humanoid or Arboreal.

Maybe it'll get paired with an Insectoid ship? we didn't see much of the Insectoids in Ent so it's hard to say what their ships could do. Science would be fun. Whatever it is will likely be highly maneuverable though.

I was wondering, is this a type of beta testing provided to you ultra high dps guys by the Cryptic Devs?

It would seem logical for them to do something like that, to see what you can break.

Anyways, with the system map floating the bad guy's ships, this is some sort of proto-Iconian-starship-battle testing going on by the players. For the Players.

And for That, We Thank You!

    Hi,

No, this isn't exclusively available to us. This is on the tribble server for anyone with access to go * and test. We give feedback to the devs via a public forum in the tribble section on our experiences and report on any bugs.

you can copy your character of choice over to tribble and/or redshirt here is the info
    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=1397921

I personally dont test such stuff lol I hate to ruin the suprise although i beta test a lot of stuff before it goes to a live game i never beta test stuff on games that are live releases kinda get beta burnout. Anyhow its easy enough to copy a character over just click the link in the faq and follow the directions wait an hour and restart your start trek app and the test servers will be listed.

Hey, you guys are super cool. I cancelled my sub earlier in 2015, sometime around the later weeks of February or early March. Because of that, I will have to reopen my account, so I can test Tribble like you guys.

I did the cancellation as a way to make a statement to Perfect World (and Cryptic but perhaps to a lesser degree for Cryptic as opposed to PWE, who I theorize are the actual puppet master/s pulling on Cryptic strings).

I'm thinking both companies use a spreadsheet with esoteric data about how we, the players, are playing STO. I'm thinking my cancellation will serve as yet another hash mark in the column that shows the count on how many ppl have dropped their subs. I'm thinking, if the numbers are low enough, someone from either branch of STO will take notice: Keeping Pushing in the Wrong Direction, and we the players will vote the Task-Grind-Masters-of-Evil out! By using our Wallets.

Anyhoot, I suppose these battles require five man teams, if not more, for other versions. Can I try private messaging you guys in the game sometime, hopefully sooner than later, so that I could give these new scenarios a run? If our schedules conflict and so then it would not be workable, that is fine. Family (fights to be) First, yeah?

My Off Days From Work are normally: Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu: My Off Days.

Fri, Sat, Sun: My At Work Days; These At Work Hours are 5am until at least 3pm (oh yes and I am in the East Coast Time Zone, United States).

There are days when I might have to work up until 5pm on any given workday, again, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

I try to play STO for a bit even on the weekends, in the evening when I have returned home from work.

On my four days off...heh...I could be on STO all day, practically, or even not at all. I just play the cards dealt to me as they fall.

O.K.! After saying all that, I'll just sum it up here for a TLDR: I'd like to be able to test Space Combat vs. the Iconians and/or their newly introduced slave race. I'd like to be able to test with fellow forumites if possible.

    Best regards,

    T9 (@ThetaNine)

P.S. You all might even be able to help me squeeze more damage out of my disruptors.
