I don't see why not, pvp in this game is kind of embarrassing. There is sufficient justification for its complete removal.

This sub forum probably needs to go as well. The frustration and animosity are high all the time now, players are no longer discussing innovative build ideas. Attempts at serious conversation ends up being trolled to death by players who haven't logged in sto for months! Instead, It has become an underground area, the dark alleys for constant bickering.

Like I said, embarrassing for cryptic and the community. Just rip off the band aid, remove it!

    lol @ community

Thank you for illustrating the point.

I'd say more about the first post, but it would just cause trouble. A sense of community would be refreshing. That's all.

Cryptic doesn't want it over with quickly.

They're slowly peeling that giant band-aid off of your extremely hairy arm for a reason.

And it doesn't get any less amusing anytime someone pops up on this subforum with a sperg rant about something new.

Hrmm, I'd say General Discussion is the most embarrassing thing anybody in this game has to deal with...followed closely by Ten Forward. PvP and the PvP forums are way down on the list...just like they kind of are. ;)

Don't you understand? People in the PvP forums are aggressive harsh and insult the devs. They don't do that at all in General Discussion. Everybody is calm, nice and helpful there.

And there are rainbows and bunnies in General Discussion, and I hear Bigfoot was spotted posting there!

After the Zombikini are shown as the 5th or 6th servitor species for the Iconians, I think Bigfoot leading an army of bunnies that shoot freakin' rainbows from their heads would be epic!

For some strange reason, I'm picturing PvP taking place on a map with...

    Voth Power Armor
    Vaadwaur Battle Tanks
    Elachi Walkers

    w/ Shuttle/Fighter air support

nope...you should celebrate that. Also when a old ship is sold as new you have to say its new. When everything is broken you have to say its working as intended ,when you lag in game its because people love the game, when you get vaped in pvp its because you suck not because the game is broken .What you see its not true what I tell you to see is true also the water is not wet until i say so.

pvp is at an all time low. the very much needed bug fixes came 5 month (!!!) after them going live. that it took so much time really is a big shame on the devs and the whole team! it was simply too long to keep the pvp community healthy. the major bugs we had (and still have) dragged out probably 80% of the remaining pvp community. no premades are left, the game is at an all time low. cryptic will never be able to get the older players back to play. they messed up too much and took waaay to long for fixes. many former pvpers are afraid of the rididculous grind and wont come back unless there will be a major change in grinding efforts.
they ignored the community over and over again and now wonder that theres nobody left...

now theyre playing with the poor rest of the community by doing stupid polls and giving hope where none is left!

a clear statement to cryptics stance on pvp would be much appreciated! tell the remaining pvpers what they can expect of cryptic regarding pvp in the future!

The only reason most anyone bothers posting on the forums if for the community. STO has one good feature they have done better then any other Developer. That being there chat system. This game formed a PvP community early and it was made possible by chat channels that looked at @ handles, global channels that followed through to alt toons... and features they added that allow people to use the chat outside of the game. So if we sound angry in general... its because that potential has been squandered in every thing else Cryptic has done. (even there fleet control systems are good, easy to understand with lots of control and easy to use fleet mail systems)

No one likes the developer. Its not the normal distrust and dislike of changes that many people have of game developers. At this point there is true hate. They made bad choices, they seem extremely incompetent, they have never had any proper leadership, they don't even show any respect for there paying customers. Really imagine walking into a brick and mortar store where you where treated in the same manner. How long would such a store survive ?

If PvP is messed up and the community toxic. It isn't the communities fault, its Cryptics. They started with a flawed but likable game. They created great in game community building tools. Then for 5 years they have been taking one step forward and two steps backward every major patch.

I can't wish them well anymore, and sadly for them most of there long time customers agree at this point. I do however wish my friends well, cause Cryptic gave us the tools to build large networks of game friends... I hope they find games they can enjoy playing.

Its too late for STO PVP, was too late a year ago and then they doubled down on it

They cannot balance the game, the whole revenue model is built on powercreep for $$, they cannot balance and still make money, there's no way out

what most of you fail to realize is it is a business model thet works GREAT

Look at how many phantoms it sold !

And I am being serious here

PvPers buy up anything that gives them a advantage at any price

cryptic lets them sell ,then after the sales dry up ( fixes ) the ( broken ) mechanic/item and smile all the way to the bank

PvPers & DPS'ers they both call PvE'ers dumb.........................

Seems like a strange version of IQ to me

I cant wait until they fix the cannon rapid fire 3 bug on the JHSS theres no way that's working as intended however it is selling the ships isn't it
    Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
    Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng

JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse

ive made the point as well, the pvper is the perfect player for their business model. BUT, we require a functional, balanced, meaningful pvp experience that hasn't existed since DR, hell since 9.0 before the zindi box and crafting. the $100 per character pay wall for upgrades, and the grind squaring or cubing itself was the second bullet to the head to make sure pvp was dead. with these changes, all the perfect customers left.

I'd say balance was dead long before DR, even before S9. I quit PVP in S8 since by that time I felt it was already out of hand. Not to mention the neglect of PVP.

There is only one thing Cryptic hates more than the KDF. And that's PVP.

Nope Cryptic is not the one to blame about pvp. They make pvp in neverwinter.Geko hates pvp and designed the game so only roleplayers like it (they dont need balance or friends )

I bet you will say but how can you prove that.

well you can't see kdf on the scoreboard but they fixed the uniforms ,the chair on the bridge ,they removed everything that annoyed rolelplayers (not only party amps but also baloons from party poopers). The game is designed @roleplayers and like i said it will never work ...they are probably happy with the lol number of players they have now.

naw, season 8 was in a good place. nothing was supper op, the power creep had marginalized itself so nothing was to out of control, and you could run half a dozen GOOD builds on each type of ship. its up there with real early pvp in decentness.

adding the zindi god escort and triggering total particle madness thanks to the crafting system damn near ruined everything. if it wasn't the untouchable zindi owning everyone, it was suddenly every sci ships being better then every other escort or cruiser at being a strait up ship killer, dead was the sci ship actually being a support and force multiplier ship, it was merely a purveyor of exploit damage. the worst part about it is, particles were buffed so hard because all the carebears complaining about their sci ships being non applicable in pve. of course, DR somehow managed to make pvp 10 times worse then that, you cant accidentally ruin something this totally, this had to be intentional.
