To the people who find the idea of a list of names to be too problematic, just don't read the Plaque. And avoid real-world memorials, they're full of lists of names too
Well I love the Idea of the Memorials, and I'm sure they will give it some fine-tuning, but I would just like to make one small suggeestion. That is, the names of Majel Barrett and Gene Roddenberry are side-by-side. i mean, they were husband and wife till the end and also being the effective parents to the whole Star Trek universe. Just a thought.
I would like to say; much respect to the devs to priortise on a very fitting show of honour to all those involved, and to those no longer with us.
Their names might not be on the plaque, but this thread shows that we remember them nonetheless, and that is a testament to the respeact we all show as well.
Frankly, the longer list existing with the memorial plaque(s) is a solid testament toward the 50 years of Star Trek history that we are fast approaching. The truth of just how many contributors have died is staggering to consider. Assuming that maintaining that text list attached to the <Continue> button isn't taxing to the game for any reason, I'd like it to stay.
The foundation of the list is there and very welcome to this Trekkie. I'd support any corrections or additions. Though those improvements are not an emergency. As they can be added to any weekly patches as they present themselves.
Thank you to the Cryptic Developer's for having made these memorial gestures available for the player's to experience.

For what its' worth... thank you Cryptic devs for doing this. It's a great show of respect not only for the actors who portrayed the characters in Star Trek but for the fans who genuinely cared about them.
While I can only speak for myself, I'm sure I'm not alone in saying these are deeply appreciated.
I like a more complete list myself. While walking through a large indoor burial facility following the passing of a friend's mother, I was struck by the human history I was glimpsing. Some dying quite young, others dying quite old, husbands and wives together, some dying many years before even my grandparents. Questions about their lives and stories and what they contributed to the world around them filled my head.
This list represents a lot of people working very hard on something that has brought me a lot of enjoyment. They are part of the history of Star Trek in front of and behind the camera. To me, a more comprehensive list represents the weight of the human contribution, something we have lost but also a legacy that continues because of their work.
Just checked and Maurice is actually on there. Harve Bennett just passed yesterday, so we lost another with a sizable contribution (Movies 2-5) to the franchise.
Unfortunately, quite a few of the guest stars in TOS have passed at this point, so the list would become quite long.
One name that immediately springs to mind is Sarek (Mark Lenard).
Mark Lenard is on the list already. But, yes, I agree...if they added EVERY actor that has been involved in Star Trek in any way (or even just ToS) and has passed, it'd be a VERY long list. That's just the actors, not to mention any other roles (directors, producers, writers...).
I wonder if "The Most Interesting Man in the World" will make the list when he goes.
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

you can roll your eyes on out of here and out the door for all I care.....
People have a right to share their opinions....
This is not the Vietnam memorial...this is not Gettysburg......a short and sweet...and to the point memorial is much more practical.
Today we fight the GAULS......monstrous and HAIRY beyond reason.

Nobody's forcing you to go there, nobody's forcing you to read them. There isn't even an Accolade attached to reading them, let alone any sort of "in-game reward".
People whining about the list of names are going out of their way to get to the memorial, clicking 'read', and then clicking 'read more', so they can then come here, in order to complain about how they don't personally want to do all that work, which they only really did in order to complain.
Or they could... I dunno... just not read the memorial if it's just so offensive to their delicate sensibilities. I have zero sympathy for such nonsense.
I agree, making a plaque to carry all the passed away star trek actor's names including Guest Stars would be incredible. Obviously we can't expect statues of each of them... but a written out name would be nice
I noticed Carol and David Marcus were not on the list on page two of the memorial when you interact with it. (Bibi Besch 1940-1996 and Merritt Butrick 1959-1989 both left us some time back.)
Also Andreas Katsulas 1946-2006 (Actor: Tomalak)
Brock Peters 1927-2005 (Actor: Admiral Cartwright & Joseph Sisko)
Kellie Waymire 1967 - 2003 (Actor: Elizabeth Cutler in Enterprise)
Michael Piller 1948-2005 (Writer and Producer)
John Colicos 1928- 2000 (Actor: Kor in TOS and DS9)
Persis Khambatta 1948-1998 (Actor: Ilia in ST:TMP)
Fred Freidberger 1915-2003 (Producer TOS)
Jeffrey Hunter 1926-1969 (Actor: Christopher Pike in TOS) We've actually lost most all of the original pilot main cast.
Harve Bennett 1930-2015 (Producer ST:2-5, Writer, Admiral Bennett in ST:5)
Also, thanks janus1975, James Doohan's quote has a "to to" in the first line. Should just be one of those.
Any others we are missing? I am talking about the longer list when you interact with the memorial and click "Continue" and not the names on the physical memorial. Please note them in this thread along with their role in Star Trek (actor, writer, etc.) and their year of birth and death.
IDK - listing practically every actor or production member who passed in the 49 years since Star Trek first appeared is honestly a bit over the top. In another couple of years, it might become a full time job in itself.

Those all brought a tear and a smile to my face.
Happy memories of watching those shows and a moment of sadness knowing they are gone.

THey shouldn´t att everyone who worked or appeard on tar trek on that list but all of those whoare really important or had a special role like Kang, Kor and Koloth because they were the Orliginal Klingons, appearad not only in TOS but also DS9 and Voy, Persis Khambatta as first Officer in TMP...
Or now, Harve Bennett
Not every crewmen who handed apadd do Kirk or said a few lines in one episode
Yeah, I figured the fans would take this thing to far once again instead of keeping it simple
The page of names Cryptic already has includes actors, producers, composers, sound designers, costumers, etc. Since they seem to have shown a willingness to include lesser know contributors and updating a text file shouldn't be that difficult, I just think the list should be more complete.
If I were EP, this is the memorial I would do: I would want it to make sense In game. The stuffy Vulcans would never honor Spock with anything on Vulcan. New Romulus isnt worthy to have ANYTHING there. As for getting visited by Klingons too, who cares, load your Fed toon, we all have one.
We get it, you think your idea is better (though it's really not), and you don't care for anyone but Humans. Way to be a Feddie elitist, by the way.
I note that this is essentially a copy-paste of a post you made in at least one other thread, as well.
Folks, just remember there's a difference between a name "ON" the plaque (i.e. where the five big names are), and "IN" the plaque (i.e. where you click 'read plaque', and then 'read more').

Forgot about Meritt - he was also in Season 1 of TNG as some alien-of-the-week.
I just read that producer Harve Bennett has died today. RIP.

I wasn't familiar with him in his TOS days, but I know he did another fave Sci-Fi show of mine growing up... Time Trax
So that is pretty awesome... R.I.P.
