got all of my 7 toons to level 60 thanks to the exp boost weekend never again am I gonna make a new toon 7 is enough for me now I can focus on the delta rep system 4 out of 3 of my toons have already completed it
i could barely manage 1 toon, and gave up on 3 others long ago. grind does not translate with me, it never has and with that 30 minute cd on argala, there is fairly little point wasting my time on it. too bad, was hoping to try get a kdf and romulan level 60 as well.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
have to say I leveled 7 chars too...but i managed to do it with doffing nearly exclusively. Any rep faction is easily done if you can logg in once a day on each, especially during winter event, where you can pile rep marks up with the winter epohh thing.
I actually hate having 7 chars...but each one is kind of unique and I don't want any of them to lack behind.
The current rep. faction system kind of supports it, but only if you can logg in with each once per day.
Hehe, even if one gets the hang of the doff system this is an unachievable task.
My 8 toons all have some 36-47 spec points. Think 90%-95% of the skill points came out of that system.
My approach is simply the decision that I dont need all spec trees filled all toons to capture the whole experience. Like I always differentiated between ground and space toons on my sub lvl 50 skills this approach helps here as well.
At the current rate the doff system grants me 1 point/week/toon. XP weekend gave 1 additional on each without spending additional time in game.
I liked that.
Nevertheless gz op on your progress
Having a couple of alts at end game makes you dil rich.

Tbh, I've never seen the point in alts in this game as the only differences come in class and skill point distribution. Class differences are somewhat pointless, as tacticals are the clearly superior option due to their damage increasing abilities.. not to mention that aside, the overall gameplay differences are extremely minor. Skill point differences also tend to be rather minor, especially when you consider that a single spec can be made to accompany many builds.
All alts tend to give ya is the ability to generate more dilithium.

But dil is so pretty!!
For me, alts let me fly different ships and builds without having to constantly swap loadouts and BOFFs. If I want to fly my Ody or Qib I just load the relevant toon up and I'm ready to go straight away.
My headcanon is that my alts were former boffs o my main toon. A command tree with roots from serving with my main.
Like my main is the one that tackles the important missions etc (story missions etc) while my alts are running patrol ships or generally having less exciting assignments (i park em at a sector, and just have em doff there)
Where do you park your characters to obtain that much SP?
I split toon-gang in half.
3-4 are in delta map near sphere for the most part.
4-5 in orbit around fleet dil mine.
As general rule of the thumb delta grand some high output assignments (1-1,5k) but a lot others there are low rewarding junk. The ones near mine are a bit more evenly distributed but really think the overall output is the same. I also found that especially my 2 Klingon alts seem to get a lot more better or high rewarding SP missions offered than my 6 feds.
What I also notice that aside from critical results the outcome seems to highly fluctuate with the quality of the assigned doffs. In every case it tends out to be much higher than the offered number on the start-up assignments.
On an average I make 2 doff cycles a day. One in the morning, one in the evening. Timeframe is approximately 3x8mins (right along with crafting, dil refining). Each cycle grants some 10k sp/toon approximately (so one argala run b4 the nerf).
Doffig is an activity Id do anyway. When DR came out I just kept at it and that deliberately on all alts, no matter if I would continue to play them or not. For me it worked out. The discrepancy on my toons as far as spec points are concerned are probably due to different quality stacks of doffs attached to them but like everybody else I also tended to actively play my main (or older/best equipend/upgraded) chars more often since DR and they also did a few argala runs in the beginning when I wnated them quickly at end game.

That's interesting info Pete. I hadn't thought about parking up around the dil mine.
I have far too many toons now. 17 in fact, and that's after thinning them out! However since DR I've only concentrated on 8 of the ones I class as "mains". 7 are at 60 and 1 is at 58. And that's as far as I can go really.
Because of the fact that the games gone decidedly "alt unfriendly" I'd delete the remaining toons but cant for either sentimental reasons (and yes I'm a big softie!) or they have something I don't want to lose, such as a ship (i.e.. my Ferengi has a D'Kora)
It does and not only with contraband. With 5-6 lvl 60 toons an in game friend of mine and I tended once to an activity we call Rhi Madness where we repeatedly did that map on different toons claiming the daily reward mark bonus (2 good players are enough to clear that map). Thanks to alts CD times as well as fails are of no consequence on short maps.
Getting 20.000 23.000 instantly refineable Dil within one hour must be the reason why cryptic wont necessarily rush things to get this game more alt friendly.

Sure thing.
True 17 alts would be too many to handle for me. When a doff cycle takes 25 mins its already a lot. If it would take an hour or more each time there wouldnt be so much time left to play.
Another friend of mine also has that number. She made the decision to abandon a few alts too and only keep 10 or so. Nevertheless she manages fine and is a much better doffer than I am. She also invites my 8 alts to her suliban ship for new high quality doffs each week.
Reasons for stationing near dil mine for me is:
- mining assignment: 500 free dil/day
- refining assignment (8k)+500 dil/day
- quick jump to base to turn in cxp into fleet marks
- a lot of missions available in sector space (think even more when chains are unlocked)
- 3 different exchange programs where you can upgrade the quality of your doffs.
All in all I hope that you guys get as many alts to end game as possible that way.
Im not sure but I really have the bad feeling cryptic uses the "awesome" revamp of sector space to adjust its reward. On many occasions the rewards they offer are totally out of sync with anything you can get by active gameplay.
But then again they want us to log in daily for metrics right?!

Some of us have alt-addiction issues - I have 14 characters currently
And 'gratz to the OP!
