This is, however, because stats trump everything else. The majority of dedicated players would fly a giant outhouse if only the ship's setup allowed for BFAW dps goodness.
That should be the new top tier lockbox ship for T6 offerings.
Again Cryptic ship design team was spot-on the romulan ships. They look great so far.
Altho they are doing it since last year starting with the Dyson warbirds. Kudos to them.
The fed ships look kinda meh and I dont care much for the kdf ones. Only thing remained to be seen are the traits. That will weight alot...
Yeah, the "tails" look pretty bad on them. If it's an interchangable part that can be removed completely, they have the chance to look like decent Starfleet ships. Mostly they got them right, but yeah....the "tails" or airstrips or whatever they are.....lol
On the upside, this is probably the first time in STO history (okay, maybe the second, the Tempest Class was pretty damn good) that Cryptic made Starfleet ships that actually look better than the Klingon and Romulan ones.
Ugh...meh...yeah, so the Zen I'd been saving up for those...I decided to burn on Keys to get Lobi to buy a Rapid Fire Missile Launcher. Cause, well, meh...seriously?
Remember the pricing discussion we had yesterday? So glad I'm not even tempted by these.
You do realize that posting links to the not yet announced things discussed in this thread is exactly the stuff mods and devs hate to see, right? Hence the "subtle" hints from others what their source is.
Only like one of the Rom's. They all resemble mod ships for Star Trek Armada (well Klink and Rom do).
The Fed's are ones that'll appease the Sov and classic style lovers. Even a tilt to the MVAM Escort
Chris Robert's on SC:
"You don't have to do something again and again and again repetitive that doesn't have much challange, that's just a general good gameplay thing."
One of the possible Fed Command ships really looks like one of the contestant designs for the Enterprise contest. Specifically this one.
It's nice to see Cryptic making use of some other designs, even though I don't really like the Oberth-hull w/ bolted on Saucer + Nacelle setup.
I wish it was removable; much like the big sensor pod on Fed Trident-class research vessel, but I doubt it; as then the ships would be midgets w/o much hull.
Remember the pricing discussion we had yesterday? So glad I'm not even tempted by these.
Heh, think that played a part in the wee flip out I had happen there. I had worked at psyching myself up about them...then I felt like an idiot sort of thing, lol.

Cryptic's interpretations aren't as good as the original, though.
You mean the Enterprise from TOS? That's probably some of the worst starship design I've ever seen. It looks like it would fly apart if it tried flying through atmosphere.
Support 90 degree arc limitation on BFaW! Save our ships from looking like flying disco balls of dumb!

The Fuzzyprise is the most beautiful ship ever and players love it! >:C
...but in all seriousness it won the popular vote back in the DTNE Contest. Cryptic's interpretations aren't as good as the original, though.
I have just as much right to say they're the fugliest ships ever and the VirusDancer does not love them as you have to say they're the most beautiful ships ever and the jexsamx loves them.
Course, I can't really say they're the fugliest ships ever...cause I also saw the KDF shoeboxes.
Fuzzyprise still looks like a shortened Sovereign with an oversized mission pod hull attached to it.
Which reminds me of the Oberth too much. I really hope they have alternate hull designs with a shorter tail. Might only use them for their Mastery traits or hope the hulls on at least one of them look better than the Fuzzyprise's hull.
Looking at the images, the Fed ships are mostly the same general designs we've seen already The nacelles are an interesting take on the look of the Chimera (two nacelles connected together). The tail section we've seen already on plenty of starships, the most early one being the Oberth, and some liked that - perhaps a little overdone, but whether or not it's ridiculous as it is now is opinion
All in all, I'd say design-wise, with a few adjustments, they're more-or-less somewhere between good and okay
The Romulans? Practically all their style, as many have observed lol
The Klingons? Well, I realize their style leans toward blocky and they don't really care about aesthetics, but due to the lack of angles, it's very hard to tell exactly what they are. I'll reserve my thoughts about it until such time
Was named Trek17.
Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.
I'm actually really digging the elongated secondary hulls. Romulans of course, have the best looking ships, but the new Starfleet ships I'm liking a lot. Not entirely sure what's going on with the KDF ships though
Well the Klingon ships are ugly and blocky, no doubt about that. Not sure about the Romulan one which looks like its wings are fixed on backward either.
But the Fed ships? Yeah I got no problem with them. Unlike the Intel ships these ones actually look like Starfleet ships.
The other Romulan ones look good. But then again most Romulan ships do.
The Rommy birds remind me of Son'a ships, a little...
I was gonna say that.
Only not sure if that's a good thing or bad. They may be leaning far too much towards a 'fantasy' shape and being woefully impractical (you imagine the interior space or rather lack thereof?). Will see when they're in game. At least I like how they flow.
The Klingon ships on the other hand aren't far from a very practical shape, a Borg Cube. Being frank, at first (and second, and third, ...) look, they're terrible. I can only hope different angles and possible mashups of their parts can make them look at least a bit better.
On the opposite side of the spectrum are the FED designs. At first look, I love them. Very fluid, elegant designs. A little nitpicking could be done about the weird shapes of the nacelles. But weird is better than bad or ugly and they may yet look glorious from other angles.
Imo, those cruisers are better than the 'fuzzyprise'. Also, I very much like the Odyssey class.
And last: Why the heck can't KDF get a Tier 6 carrier and most importantly a staple T6 Klingon vessel: the Bird of Prey?
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class. Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider. Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

The rest, especially the KDF - blegh.

sounds like superstition to me
Take my money!
Nah, spelled out plain as day: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/announcement.php?f=&a=151
(But, yeah... those FED nacelles, on those ships I ain't seen... boo. :P)
FUZZYPRISE. THREE OF THEM. CAPS LOCK.
I hope parts are interchangable between them. I want the Tac pylons and hull with the Sci's round saucer and nacelles.
But wow what is going on with those nacelles. Those are the weirdest bussard collectors I've ever seen. I like the quad-nacelle look though.

Interchangeable with ships that aren't quite so fugly?
Shut up.

Nope. This thing. An entrant from the Design the Next Enterprise Contest from so long ago. It was very popular with the players - or at least the forumgoers at the time. There was a lot of audible disappointment both at not getting this ship and getting the winner we did. It's nice to see it's finally getting slipped into the game.

Honestly, I think I like the look of the one in-game better.

I'm not a fan of the pylons on it...
Agreed. But I hate that about almost every federation ship.
