over the weeks the game has become increasingly difficult to play extreme rubberbanding . broken events unwinable stfs .
what is really going on?
i was in bughunt today and could barely move my character and when i could get close to a bug to shoot it my weapons would not fire now i know this s not a first person shooter but when you click on a weapon that is usable you expect it to fire don't you.
i also played cc today and my escort would not turn it was like driving a truck with no powersteering i could hardly bring any weapons to bear on crystalline entity and that too was a failed mission.
i tried dust to dust got past the elictric floor and into mazes game disconnects and i am at beging of temple when i log back in.
dr patrol missions are only ones that seem playable but they drop no dilitium so what the point of playing them during dilitium weekend?
o heard that you are having trouble with cogent isp have you considered switching to a different isp because this game is truly becoming unplayable i am not talking about quiting i love st online i been here in some form or another since the open beta i have paid thousands of dollars to play this game over the years and really hate to see it in this state on its fith anniversery
Everybody is seeing that issue and it has gotten worse. We all love the game or we wouldn't be here asking for help to have it fixed. The cost of everything is so high that we could have paid a monthly subscription for 5 people. With that many players that is a lot to work with. How can we help? We give bug reports, but the bugs keep coming back. We just want to play and enjoy the game.
Thought I'd pop in here and explain a little bit about what was going on with the tray UI lag. And I hope this isn't too much programmer technobabble, but I'll try my best.
As a part of the Anniversary update, we made some optimizations to the tray UI so that it wouldn't eat up nearly as much of your CPU as it did before. The effect of these optimizations was pretty drastic, and we were delighted to see that some players reported drastically improved frame rates from the change.
From a very high level standpoint, the way the tray UI worked before is that we would run a full update pass for every single ability in the tray on every single frame. So if you ran the game at 60 fps, each individual ability would update 60 times per second. These updates were very expensive on the CPU. We changed the trays to no longer do that, and to instead only update an ability when some data behind it had changed. Essentially, the tray UI no longer updates on every single frame, it updates on demand, which drastically reduces the CPU overhead of that entire UI.
The problem is that we have to setup that UI to know which pieces of data are important for updating, and we missed (at least, but hopefully only) one important piece of data. This meant that even though some data was changing when you used an ability in the tray, the tray UI wasn't updating like it should have been. It was waiting for some other data to change before doing that.
We're hoping (with fingers crossed) that this change eliminates the tray lag players have been experiencing, while also improving the gameplay experience for players who were dealing with low frame rates due to the heavy CPU overhead of the tray UI.
...though I'm curious if it will actually resolve the various problems some have reported. Will have to see.

I can confirm my BoP at the start of the space battle of Dust to Dust flies very slow, practically the same speed as every other ship. Don't see any science abilities active that could explain the low flight speed on that map.
Interesting to hear about the tweaks going on to the tray to improve FPS. This is one of the biggest bugs I have been hoping gets fixed, along with the console abilities failing to activate when pressed or just lagging constantly on both ground and space.
Devs: Provide the option to Turn OFF full screen flashes from enemy ship explosions

Yeah, Bug Hunt is absolutely ridiculous to play after the anniversary started. It's like my personal space and the environment around me are out of phase. You gotta expect that when you hit something in the tray it's more like an investment in the future rather than an instant action. And because the game moves quickly, you can't sit around waiting for it to activate. You have to move on. The problem is, the function doesn't even activate sometimes.
Other times, especially CC, the game just flat out crashes during heavy fighting or when changing maps. The whole game is largely unplayable now for me, although I sometimes give it a try.
