The R.R.W. Qanik will have Ultra-Rare AMACO engines tomorrow. I guess the stars lined up correctly, because I had just enough dilithium and Very Rare upgrades to get it to pop. Hopefully I'll get to test drive them tomorrow night after work.
I have one vulnerability locator at 30% chance to upgrade to Epic, and it still won't go, just like a Pakled ship. I'm not at level 15 in either Beams or Cannons, so I guess I just have to strike at the deals on the exchange when the time is right.
Torp boats can be hilarious when riding with a shield melter cannon build. Tricky to do, but when you get the timing right, you can cruise through half a fleet.
It's a blast when you got two small ships paired up like this. Escort goes in and melts shield. Than I went in cloaked and launched barrage of torps. Instant boom. Need to get my buddy to stop being an old maid and tell his wife to let him play. We where doing that combo while grinding up a friend and he was just in awe how fast we melted NPC's like it was nothing. Than again helped we both had Fleet Elite gear too.
This is a very short update. Two more vulnerability locators have been upgraded to epic quality. Thanks to everyone on the NoP channel who has helped me by crafting upgrades. If only Argonite Gas was more plentiful, as well as Rubidium and Tetrazine Gas. The rest of the upgrading would be a great deal easier to handle. Right now, I haven't got an ice cube's chance in Hell of getting much further.
The R.R.W. Qanik is now up to SEVEN MEDALS!!! Thanks for the votes. Build is now updated on STOAcademy.
UPDATE: The R.R.W. Qanik now has four epic vulnerability locators. The focus for building now turns to improving universal consoles, starting with Bioneural Infusion Circuits. The build is updated on STOAcademy.
"Ask, and ye shall receive!" Seriously, sometimes that actually happens.
In this case, my Bioneural Infusion Circuits just popped Epic, so I'll get to enjoy them in about three hours.
I hope everyone is having an enjoyable R&D weekend. I figured now was a good time to take a break and fill the readers in on what was new with the Quantum Torpedo build. For starters, it looks like the plan to upgrade consoles made the most sense after all. Even if Rubidium is hard to come by, at least there are an adequate number of engineering and science upgrades available on the Exchange. Since I'm at level 15 in both categories, I prefer to craft my own upgrades since there's always a chance of crafting two for the price of one. It's true that you can use any type of upgrade on Universal consoles, but if you're using Projectile or Shield upgrades on a Universal console, you really must seek help immediately, or PM me in game and let me relieve you of your burdens.
That bit of sarcasm aside, I am probably going to pick up some of my Breen ships tonight. My toons have managed to get most of their Q photos, so I can get at least two of the ships on each. This assumes that I don't suffer from the bug that seems to be plaguing many players. Considering current trends, I'll probably be in the same boat, so wish me luck.
So, the build is updated on STOAcademy, and I hope the readers are finding the ship's evolution to be as interesting as I do. Thanks for reading, and I'll update as soon as something else happens. An Epic quality Rule 62 console is the minimum goal for the rest of this weekend.
So, I mentioned in my last post that the minimum for the rest of this weekend was to upgrade the Rule 62 console to Epic. It popped, and I was quite pleased.
Then I tried to upgrade my Tachyokinetic Converter. It popped Epic at 4%. I was blown away by my luck.
Pressing one's luck is not always the smartest thing to do, but I was feeling a bit saucy. I upgraded my Bioneural Gel Packs. POP! Unbelievable! EPIC! That's three, so that's all one can do at once.
This has been a very good R&D weekend. At this point, I have some dilithium, and I could try for the last console in my arsenal (Assimilated Borg), but I need to wait for the others to finish. If we've learned anything from this little exercise, it's that you should really work on upgrading items that affect your overall build. The inputs tend to cost less than other items, like weapons or shields, and the chance is good that you'll see a result that puts a smile on your face.
I may be behind many of you who read this thread, but I hope you are enjoying the evolution of my ship. I will update the build shortly.
The only comment I have is change your fleet Q torp for regular one carrying crtdx3 or better. I far as I know dmg mod isn't taken into consideration when using torp skills and since torp spread never miss you'll pack quite a punch with those.
Personally I prefer Photon.
Jamal : Tactical space specialist. USS Bug Warrior and many others
E'Mc2 : Science Reman torp T'Varo, deadly annoyance :P
Kunmal: Tactical fed Klingon, ground specialist, USS Kanewaga
Ka -tet Tier 5 fleet fully completed Starbase and fleet property

Point taken. However, the cost of obtaining torpedoes with the appropriate modifiers is high. I have been trying to craft some, and I'll update when I have some more success.
Well, early tomorrow the Neutronic Torpedo will be ultra-rare. I'm looking forward to trying it out, but I hope it was worth the upgrades.
The plan right now is to get my engines and deflector to epic. The primary drive behind this is economics. Until there is an easier way to accumulate Argonite Gas, shield and torpedo upgrades will have to take a back seat.
I did make a BoP killer using my Fed Tvaro all Quantums build.
Stealth detection + TDF console, Quantum CrtDx3 Torp spread 3, buff up everything up detected and fire away. If they don't pop from the 1st spread I fire 2 more torps then my TS2 fires.
You've gotta love the flexibility of the T'varo! I like taking mine to Ker'rat every once in a while.
I grind and I grind, and eleven hours from now it pays off with an Epic quality AMACO engine! I'll be updating the build shortly, and I should be able to try it out sometime in the afternoon when maintenance is complete.
I continue to plug away at upgrades. The latest will be in approximately three hours when my Counter-Command Deflector goes Epic. So now the only items I have left to upgrade are my shield and the rest of my torpedoes. The shield will be the priority, as it will benefit from some nice modifiers as it increases in rarity. Since Argonite Gas continues to be scarce and expensive, this will probably be where I work on the Epic upgrades to improve my chances of getting there. This will be followed by improving the Neutronic Torpedo to Epic, and then the Advanced Fleet Quantums. Yes, I have been told by many that CritDx3-4 is superior to anything else on such a build, but unless I get lucky with crafting the perfect torpedoes on a regular basis, acquiring such items will have to take a back seat to the rest of my plan.
R.R.W. Qanik is starting to look like a finished product. Thanks for reading!
Darin how is the command spec treating your torp boat. That along with the changes to R&D that allow me to use tachyon beam III, as well as tachyon beam's buff itself, have made my style alot more viable.
