How is this bait and switch? Pretty much flat-out says that Rep project completion doesn't get the bonus. I mean, I'm disappointed that because I'm a casual player and hadn't really finished many reps yet, that I don't get to get the bonus dil that many others did. But I guess to me it just isn't worth all the gnashing of teeth.

    Bait:

Everywhere else in the game: (including turning in Marks/Neural Processors/Cybernetic Implants, etc.) 50% Bonus Dilithium Ore

    Switch:

Everywhere else in the game. 50% Bonus Dilithium Ore

Perhaps we can argue about the relative nature of fictional currencies. This was a mistake pure and simple, but another example of the zero lack of managerial oversight on something we love to play. This was something many of us looked forward to and for the last 2 years used.

Well, once you get past that kick in the nuts, there's the fact that "including turning in Marks/Neural Processors/Cybernetic Implants, etc" was deleted.

    To clarify.

The part that is a bait and switch is as follows:

"Everywhere else in game: (including turning in Marks/Neural Processors/Cybernetic Implants, etc.)
    -50% Bonus Dilithium Ore"

This has now been removed from the Dev blog, this is not happening, and is confirmed working as intended. The removal of the rep completion bonus was generally well understood by the community here yesterday.

It may have not been intentional, it may have been a mistake, but it was most certainly a bait and switch.

Looks like time for the team to take an early weekend and get out of dodge. After the 3 weeks holiday break they must be exhausted.

One of the greats of the golden age of science fiction, (Arthur C Clarke, maybe?), once said something like, "never postulate conspiracy to explain that which could be explained equally well by incompetence".

As an axiom, it has some stark limitations, but in this particular situation...

It's unfortunate that we have now become so embittered by the legions of wrongs done to us that we are no longer capable of being fully objective about such things.

Thing is, the very next line states that Rep Projects do not reward a bonus. The thing to do would have been to have questioned the blog as soon as it went up with the contradictory information it held.

    E-Marks are 150%
    E-Marks are 100%

Some folks chose to ignore the second part and go with the first. Some folks expect the worst of Cryptic and ignored the first part figuring it was the second.

Cryptic's fault for providing contradictory information, but that's not bait and switch. Two things that could have been true, not at the same time, and one of them is true.

They definitely should have seen the issue in the blog before posting it, players should have raised their concerns the moment it was posted...

...hard not to feel like this isn't one of those hope things. Hoping that if they didn't raise the concerns, that maybe the E-Marks would...concerned that if they did, Cryptic might fix it and they wouldn't be.

Pessimism is so much easier when dealing with Cryptic...figuring that E-Marks wouldn't, but if they had it would have been a pleasant surprise.

Still such a little thing to be upset over imo - plus there are more and bigger sources of Dil than just turning in Rep items, marks or otherwise

The turn in's aren't really projects as such, that in itself is part of the problem in how they are defined. Ergo, nothing to really question, when information was specific and clear to the point regarding marks etc.

I would kindly ask a cryptic employee to address this issue, but half of them hate me now.

I think one thing they are always thinking in the back of their mind is that this is a FTP game so they are not really taking anything from us.

The logic is faulty, but sometimes when you prove someone's thinking is wrong it only reinforces that flawed belief.

LOL. Sliding 6 at a time we're looking at 4000+ in about 30 seconds. Say 8000 a minute. 480,000 an hour. We'll round it down to 400,000 an hour.

You add dill sink after dill sink to this game. Then you change the bonus dill weekend so you no longer get bonus dill from dumping all those F-ING marks for 50 at a time to actually get ahead of the grind. This is what you are telling people. And right back at you.

Go to the Reputation tab. Go down to Upgrades Available. It takes you to the same Selective Active Project section of the Contribute tab, even though the available projects will vary from the standard projects. Once you've selected an upgrade, it changes the window to state Select Next Project. If you want to cancel that upgrade (I'm looking at the one for Isos), the button to cancel it states Cancel Project. If you click it, it comes up with the warning window...Cancel Active Project, if this project is cancelled, yadda yadda yadda.

So how are they not projects when everything says they are projects?

And the blog stated that Rep projects get no bonus...vs...the line before saying the E-Marks would.

That's contradiction, that's on Cryptic - creating that confusing scenario; but it's not bait and switch by any means.

edit: Don't get me wrong, I'm not happy about it...it's just I was pissed about it yesterday when the blog went up and not pissed about it today by surprise having expected something else. I went my typical pessimist route with Cryptic and figured they were going to TRIBBLE us.

Cryptic never ceases to amaze me... this is the type of subterfuge and misinformation I'd expect from a Romulan. It clearly stated marks and BNP type items would receive the bonus and Event Reputation (which is NOT Omega, Undine, etc) would not get a bonus. Now it appears no rep projects of any kind give a bonus. Well played sirs, well played

Last dilithium weekend netted me 2.8mil in dil. So someone else please tell me where I can make this much dil in a few days without dumping hundreds of dollars into this game and I'll take it.
Oh, it's not broken? We can soon fix that!

when the made the change in the last dil event to exclude the reputation and event completion , the turning in marks and special pickups were still working , For this event its like they changed it again , without proper notice to CM dept . thats poor managment and false advertising . to change it is wrong

a good part of my Dil income is these events while turning in my excess marks and rep things . while people claim better ways to earn dil ,for me this is better than the other . rather than Exploiting DINOS sorry guys its broken and you know it .
events like this should throw a bone at the community for playing the other content outside the norm.

here is the thing , metrics prob show a good majority stopped buying zen . use mostly dil to zen so nerf the most dil for the buck . if you think about it i can run and make my refine limit in a shorter period during this event then running dinos or contra , you have how many reps ? if you have months of excess marks thats alot of dil . to run at once every 8 secs or so . yes its alot of clicking thru the interface not alot of running around , just like crafting and playing the exchange .
    im not happy at all

My issue is pretty simple, regardless of the content of the second line, the first was pretty specific. Had 'including turning in Marks/Neural Processors/Cybernetic Implants, etc.' not been there we would be quietly assuming they were joking, but our anger would have been muted (albeit slightly) today.

Regardless if it's a bad mistake, aren't posts of any kind with obvious negative impacts on the 2.5 million account holders reviewed at length and approved before posting?

    Apparently not. Yay team Cryptic!

BAHAHAHAHA I laughed out loud at this one, I am all for some good forum rage but this one is up there in terms of frustration. That the state of the game drives people to pop off like this should be a good indication that something's wrong.

But as long as you all keep opening lockboxes for your new precious and have ship win announcements zooming across the screen every few minutes, I guess nothing will change

Fair enough - I don't represent the community.

I was referring to this thread - which went on for some time, and discussed the nerf that was incoming. (To also clarify, I was concerned that they were about to pull mark bonuses as well)

    BAD, BAD, BAD CRYPTIC!

Even if it was a bug, the fact the official announcement didn't include this restriction an now it's been added AFTER the event Go Live is a terrible business decision. You should be honoring your "misprint".

This is only hurting your reputation and giving ammunition to the people who accuse you of lying/cheating/etc. In this case, they are right and you can't possibly spin it any other way.

Big loss of faith in Cryptic here.
