We are aware of the lag/rubberbanding in the social zones like ESD, New Romulus, etc. and this is expected to fully clear up in 2-3 days but you should see improvement shortly as people complete their patching and log in for the first time post patch.
We'll be monitoring this over the next few days.
I just logged back on today after months of not playing. So, after spending a couple hours downloading it on Steam, 20 minutes or so creating a character, I had major rubber banding at the Academy. It took me 5-10 minutes longer than usual to do the skipped tutorial stuff because of the lag. Then I beamed up to ESD and literally couldn't move off of the transporter pad. After all of that, your answer to the issue is to wait 2-3 days?! No. I'm not waiting 2-3 days. I'm uninstalling this game right now. Things like this remind me of why I haven't played in months.
There is nothing that can be done to "fix" this. It is a bandwidth issue. The games servers only have so much bandwidth and it is being overtaxed with patch downloads and the sheer volume of people online. Bandwidth costs money, and this game probably doesn't generate enough money to budget for an amount of bandwidth to accommodate the present need/demand.
When everyone is finished patching it will free that bandwidth to handle the population as best it can. My guess is that should be enough, but they may not even be paying for an amount of bandwidth to service the present login traffic.
Since I am unwilling to endure these conditions, I will not be playing until next week or until there is an all clear.
Well, there IS an unpalateable way to fix the problem. Set the total number of allowed logins to a level that their datacenter's bandwidth can handle. Would cause login queues, but should run smoother for those who do make it in.
Might anger alot of non-subscribers IF the skip-queue functionality that subscribers has even works though.

Same people who said there is nothing to see here and forum posters are "only" the minority of the playerbase. Where are those guys now who said ALL is rosy and checky...Best expansion TRULY ever?
I still hope STO will be rescued but I'm not following a blind cult of ignorance to see where this reality has gone since DR launched. Are these guys still the silent minority...judge for yourself? :D:D
Let me guess - when you first log in, a script has to run to convert all your boffs from the old-style (4 ground and 4 space skills) to the new style (as many skills as you care to learn)? Because I could see that causing some real database slowdowns, which would affect all sorts of other systems. If that's it, it will probably be over as soon as the majority of players have logged in at least once, i.e. in 2-3 days once the weekend is over.
Or, in my case, you log in and a script runs designed to massively **** up your abilities for most of your 24 bridge officers because **** me for having too many bridge officers and enjoying playing the game with a high degree of roleplay immersion, then you submit a support ticket and then immediately close it with a learned defeatist attitude because you know they're only going to either copy/paste an unhelpful response or treat you like you forgot to submit your question in a recognizable human language, after which you spend an unreasonable amount of time and in-game resources bouncing around ESD trying to manually get your **** straightened out to the way it was before they released this incredibly helpful update.

And yet, miracle of miracles, this problem as of 1843 is fixed perfectly. No lag at all on ESD....
Even if what they say is true, that people patching, and the number of ones logged in is causing the problem, is saying to wait three days not going to make the problem last longer, than fixing it?
I mean, when people find out that there will be less traffic, and they will be able to log in 3 days from now, they will start waiting till then, since the lag is keeping many from being able to complete the grind.
Doesn't that means that in 3 days, it will start all over again, because so many are waiting till then to log in? Wouldn't it be better to just fix the problem, and be done with it?
Leader of Elite Guardian Academy.Would you like to learn how to run a fleet? Would you like to know how to do ship builds (true budget as well as high end)? The join the Academy today!
Things have improved immeasurably in the last two hours.

I've a better suggestion turn off the server and turn it on again.
