I think you need a new keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyboard. :D

I'm fine on my keyboard, TYVM ;)

But I think, after the Anniversary Event went live and the absolute failure of the event mission/mini-games, and the rampant anger going around right now... I'm sure some people out there will need a new keyboard after today :D

It's really kind of funny. The air around the community (not just KDF) is edgy, angry. Today I'm sure did not help in calming that down.

Your right, there is a very bad air today and many an angry player. Even those that usually don't get angry. Just a bad idea to do an anniversary and a box launch at the same time.

In the meantime I am seeing more and more KDF and even a few Feddybear friends are now playing their kdf alts more and more. Kind of weird seeing as KDF and ROM got the shaft on t6 ships, 2 compared to 5. Perhaps the devs will wake up and see the potential cash cow in releasing a tier 6 bop, a brand new super nice carrier, and sci ship for KDF and Rom aligned KDF. I won't hold my breath however as they fail to see a gift horse in the mouth on many occasions.

Like it or not more and more are being KDF, probably because its something different and people are bored but we stick with it because its the underdog that gets neglected on everything year after year, and that one year when the devs wake up, we will get our ships and advantage. So I am happy more are making the switch now. Imagine if our new bop was universal ANYTHING intel/command/insert next bridge seat. Just wow... but not even the lesser seems to come...

If only the KDF got the glory it so much deserved instead of this tid bit the matha gives but has no synergy with other KDF ships or traits. So when does the KDF retain its glory? Is it when more feds come running for something to do? Make the move/ make some money, that is all.

There is a major, major difference in seeing some of those extra "numbers" in the KDF ranks.

Some of those "numbers" are only really KDF. Huh? They are:

Klingon Dil Farmers for Fed Characters

Nothing more. Hell, depending on the times, a sizable chunk of "players' you see in a First City instance are really Spambots hanging out at the Barracks. On top of those, Fed Dil Farmers.

I thought KDF stood for Klingon Dilithium Farmers??? It doesn't? :P

I mean, remember the old start...with the Klingon farmers? I thought that was the idea. ;)

edit: As an aside, mind you, I find it a trip that I can go through all ten of my KDF guys faster than I can get from the transporter to the Exchange on ESD. ;)

edit2: What's kind of depressing, imho, is the number of Feds out there complaining about the Manasa compared to other boats - but I don't recall them thinking about what the Fleet Mat'Ha would be like...which to me, speaks more to the traits than the ship - that a Fed Manasa is something to complain about but a Fleet Mat'Ha wouldn't be...meh. The Starship Trait stuff...meh.

Honestly the only surprise I have about the new escort being like the Mat'ha is that I am surprised it just didn't happen sooner, simple as that.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

Sad, but true. The creators cant have the cash beasts being abused. It wounds the delicate ego and puts the center out of place.

The word you are looking for is Ha'DIbaHmey ("animals" or "meat.") Targhmey ("targs") would also work in this context.

Interestingly, last I saw on the exchange, these new Escorts aren't selling for as high as I thought they would be. Roughly in the 180m. I figured, based on the stats and capability alone, that they'd go for the 400m+. But then again, there isn't a shortage of very high powered Escorts.

I've actually decided to write off and use my Feds for nothing but turning in contrabands for the time being. I have 16 toons, 5 fed, 11 KDF. For to foreseeable future I'll be focusing on my KDF Engineer Battlecruiser captain, Romulan KDF Tactical in a Feaht, and my Gorn Sci captain who has the temporal ships.

The rest will just be used for doffing and generating Dilithium in the process.

The final straw is the Kobali Cruiser, which don't get me wrong I look forward to, but my fed main used a T5U Fleet Ambassador class, so the Kobali Cruiser can do everything that ship can except look like a Federation ship.

Since very early on I prefered the KDF side of the game, as I just think the Federation storyline is overly aggressive and out of character.

The KDF experience, to me is much more canonical. Yeah less variety and ships, that isn't something I get butthurt about, as to me KDF don't whine about what we lack, we succeed with the weapons we have.

The only imbalance I feel in the game is the lack of access to available mastery traits, but that isn't the end of the world, and with each progressive lockbox and set of ships will rectify itself somewhat.

Aestetically the Mah'ta, and Romulan T6 ships are much better looking.

It doesn't help that we 16% have access to the (account unlock) Mat'ha anyway. :D

I'd bet if it were a science ship, the non-Feds would be jumping all over it. Feds already have the Phantom (for an escort), which is no slouch.

You said it yourself, there's no shortage of high powered escorts. Maybe Cryptic should try something different?

The total number of T6 ships, esp Non-Fed faction ships isn't high compared to T5. Let's take a look.
    (BC-Battlecruiser, CA-Cruiser, CV-Carrier)
    FED
    INTEL
    - Phantom Escort
    - Eclipse BC
    - Scyer Science
    Hybrid Intel
    - Pahtfinder SCI
    - Guardian CA
    - Dauntless SCI
    KDF
    INTEL
    - Qib BC
    Hybrid Intel
    - Mat'ha
    ROM
    INTEL
    - Faeht
    Hybrid Intel
    - Aehlal BC
    EVENT/PROMOTION/LOCKBOX/LOBI
    Hybrid Intel
    - Sarr Theln CV
    - Sheshar CA
    - Hazari Escort
    - Benthan CA
    Hybrid Command
    - Samsar/Zombie CA

A quick glimpse across the T6 selection shows very solid ships. I know player preferences come into play but I honestly feel that none of these ships are weak links and some of them are very nasty.

Example: I know the Sheshar was all the rage in introduction, but when you really get down to the stats of it, it did nothing that a Qib / Eclipse couldn't do. The Qib / Eclipse are only limited by having no Fleet versions yet.

It's the same with the new Vaaaaaaaaaaaaadwaur Escort. I said before, the total package makes it really stand out in terms of stats, the firepower it can do. But take away that speed and above average turn rate, the gap between the new Escort to the other T6 Escorts isn't huge. It wasn't like the monstrous gap the JHAS had over other ships before, say, S9 or even S8. The Phantom, Mat'ha, Faeht for instance are great Escorts. But the gap the new ship has over them isn't as big. As patrickngo stated, those little stat increases the new ship has are big pluses in PVP, and I concur in that. But when we look at the state of the game and community, would they be willing to pay old school JHAS or Sheshar prices for it? I guess not.

I still felt that the ship would go for more despite the close competition of other T6 Escorts, based on sheer stats alone. But I'm wrong on that.

Side Note: A little disturbing to see more event/lobi/lockbox/promotion T6 ships than Non-Fed faction ships combined.

Actually got a Manasa out of a lockbox, sold it, bought the Hirogen Hunter heavy escort, and put the 180 degree turn console on my Mat'ha, with 100 mil EC left over.

Now the Mat'ha is extra fun.

Interestingly, the Temporal Science Vessels seem to have stabilised at aroun 180M EC even with the 3 x T6 Fed Sci vessels; not much different from their pre-DR price of 200M.

A stronger comparison might be with the Xindi carrier; I was able to sell one of them for around 260M EC shortly after they released (my one-and-only hit in 300-odd lockboxes...) which at least funded one of the aforementioned Temporal Science Vessels.
