    Whaaaaat....peeps still do ground missions!

Actually yea. Aside from the fact that I always liked ground a bit better (only me I know I know) playing ground contend as in elite is really a profitable undertaking atm. Not 22 itmes to upgrade but rather 4. Some missions like Rhi, Bug, Nukara and Undine pay off very good for the time being and much better than most space maps. :)

Uh-huh. Disagreed. I run melee/Sweep-kicks build 100% of my time I do ground combat, which I actually prefer over space anyways, and it works charm. :D
I never said melee was useless. That's simply not true. I just said I don't know how it would work on BHE, considering it's an AOE heavy place, with lots of persistent ground AOE and some unreachable mobs that need long range weapon to kill (the artillery bug on top of cliffs, and the flying bugs).

I'm not even going to bother replying. I had one typed, but it doesn't matter. Too bad I missed the memo when I signed up 2 1/2 years ago that only Tacs needs apply in STO.
Tac, no. But DPS, yes mostly. From a gameplay point of vue, DPS is all you need, and it's better than tank/heal. Sadly.
Now, if you have fun as a healer, suit yourself. I'm not going to judge^^

Melee works OK vs larger enemies, for cliff spitters use lunge as mode of transport. Melee is useless against fluyers except low fluyng ones :D

Sweeping kicks have AoE. My fave pass-time in Bug-Hunt, or anywhere on ground STF, is to run where the highest concentration of enemies is, and kick the hell out of them. Most of them don't live long. I can reach the Ravagers on the ledges by well-aimed Lunge, which takes me at the top, and then, Sweep-kicks solve the problem as well, once I am up there.

Flying bugs are reachable with the same 99% cases. I personally have very high survivability, as that's how my build is built, so as long as I watch for the flying bugs damage, which is the real danger for me, damage-wise, I don't die, on Elite.
[10:20] Your Lunge deals 4798 (2580) Physical Damage(Critical) to Tosk of Borg.

Here is my fresh video i named Ultimate Redshirt Survival Guide,
features Bug Hunt Elite, Defend Rh'lhho station elite and Nukara Transdimensional Tactics elite walkthrough and very cheap and efficient build for tactical captains.

Ultimate Redshirt Survival Guide part 1 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJc2d4y3SAg
Ultimate Redshirt Survival Guide part 2- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nla6WmbzHU0

I didn't use any items in first post, any consumable items at all really. no ground traits, no ground specializations, minimum skill points in ground part and it's all done in PUG group.

Basic idea behind the build and Guide is to have an Always-Ready tactical build for ground for seamless transition between ground and space gameplay.
    Also few bonuses inside.

May as well post this here:

That's on my fed trill engineer with heavy focus on ground. Aside from the widely known tricks like the CC armor for toxic resist and certain traits, a good thing to keep in mind is that the bugs swarm toward anything you produce.

That means if you roll and spawn a mine... :P

I use a Mk 14 Relativity_Self_Targeting_Rifle simply because it allows me to move without having to aim and esp in the last hall you need to move like the devil himself is on your tail.

Portable_Shroud_Generator is good to evade swarms and get a nice damage boost upon leaving shroud.

Position your mortar close enough, but not too close for it to attract bugs right away.

Spawn your turrets close to where a blob just landed since there is a small delay before the next one.

And mines + transphasic bombs (or the freeze variants) are your friend.

If you move fast and don't have to bother with 3-4 <peeeep> who keep dieing and healing the spawn queen you should be fine on either advanced or elite.

Edit: B.t.w delta T5 is also a must!
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Bug Hunt Elite is the worst place where you would want to melee because it's not easy to melee some bug on the roof which could be shot in less time and especially because a pulsewave ROCKS there.

Hrmm, found the post of what I was running when I last ran it. Only needed so many APCs, and had a bunch of luck from boxes along the way, so needed even fewer APCs...

Undine Biotech Battle Armor Mk XII (VR)
Counter-Command Personal Shield Mk XII (VR)
Delta Expedition Science Kit Mk XI [Medic][Part][CrtX] (VR)
    - Subspace Rift (R)
    - Endothermic Induction Field Mk XII (VR)
    - Neutronic Radiation Mk XII (VR)
    - Biofilter Sweep Mk XI (VR)
    - Triage Mk XIII (R)
Voth Antiproton Shocktrooper Cannon Mk XII (VR)

You mean Dampening field? Subspace rupture is for space not ground? or perhaps has a different name.

Personally, I was kind of lost on the whole thread. The title of the thread is...

"Surviving Bug Hunt Elite. A guild for Noobs."

I thought it was a recruitment thread for a fleet named Surviving Bug Hunt Elite. Cause it says it is a guild for noobs.

    ;)

Spamming heals/cleanses helps. The first BHE I ran was just supposed to be a bored fun run...a bunch of us "Space" guys getting dragged along by a Tac and a Sci. They basically carried the five of us through BHE without issue...the other three of us didn't have any Ground traits slotted, no gear beyond what ever goofy stuff we'd picked up from missions. We didn't do Ground...sort of folks. But the two guys basically carried us along as we ran around like chickens with our heads cut off.

Lol that's the story of every space person I bring to ground. Also when I used to pub elite I'd be above average and able to carry myself, what happened often on elite modes (expecIally NTTE) is 1-2 leeches and we'd lose. It was frustrating so I spent a LOT upping my ground game, now I can carry games with 3 headless chickens but it's happening less and less simply because them trying to leech isn't working anymore, unless they get 1 or 2 really good players they're wasting their time loosing and dragging average players down with them. Elite should really have per-requisites.

Do we actually need a how to for Bug Hunt Elite? That mission is so easy you can pass it by smashing your head on the keyboard :)

Seriously though, as someone who has run this hundreds of times (I do enjoy it), here's what I recommend:

    • Anything that adds Toxic Res. Tribbles, space suits, whatever.
    • Lots of hypos.
    • Gun that does DECENT damage. Don't go in there doing 40 DPS and expect to pass.
    • Anything that boosts run speed is nice but not mandatory.

Then it's easy as Sunday. Priority targets are, in this order:
    1. Alarm Bugs (purple)
    2. Pestilent (Flying ones, they do MASSIVE damage)
    3. Those bigger, acid throwing ones (forgive me, I can't remember their name right now). STAY OUT OF THE ACID. It doesn't damage you to stand in it, but it heals them.
    4. Anything else.

Finally, ignore the Optional "Set Charges" objective. The charge guy needs to drink some more coffee or something because he's way too slow. Instead, just focus fire on the Spawnmother and she'll go down in seconds. Congrats, you got some APCs!

Engineer is easiest, but science and tactical are also viable.
Especially on weaker teams a sci can make the difference. Throwing out heals, hazards and removing toxic from team. Pretty useful stuff to be done while roasting the bugs with exothermal or neutronic.

As a tac i can come out of cloak (shroud) fully buffed and take out most bugs within moments using a split beam rifle.

Has any one tried the anticoagulant nano cell?

25% chance reduced healing for the spiters and mom.

does it really work for all weapons now?

AFAIK it only works for the JH rifle.

The reduced healing sounds good, but the bugs and their mom die so fast that any reduction in their healing is insignificant.

nanocells only work for JH weapons. That means the pulse rifle, the pistol, or the minigun (lobi store).
