I've heard since forever that boarding parties were useless, mainly because of everyone running TT. This would be true of PvP but what about PvE? Does it have some use there?
Also what about Marauder Force Shuttles, those that come with the Orion flight deck cruiser, looks like a beefier version of boarding party - are they any good/better?
NPCs die to fast for them to have an effect. And for those NPCs on Boss-Level, the best you get is a flickering shield for 2-3sec.
No, not in all builds. You don't need TT if you can provide a reasonable amount of shield cap and resists, which should be standard on a sci ship healer. The only problem is the clearing of debuffs, like the one mentioned in this thread, but yeah a doff calleed keel'el (warp core engineer) could help there. Of course you need to run EptX, which i would call a 'musthave' on EVERY build.
Also true, Kira got me there as I'm unexperienced when it comes to healers.
Still, the OP should use it as he's on a Galaxy, not a healer Recluse or sci ship...

Op, there is another doff you can use against boarding parties, and it works with transfer shield strenght. It's a transporter officer and it gives you a 30% chance with tss to clean bp effect (if you don't use tt of course)
I don't think BP has any use in PvE, though last I tried was over a year and a half. Basically, mobs regenerate disabled systems so fast that you barely feel the BP effect. To counter the power creep, NPCs outside story missions are almost immune to subsystem disables anyway.
Ah that's a shame. On paper it does sound like a really cool ability. In fact I could see a future specialization themed around boarding parties. Specialist parties for ships and structures, and assault craft for the relevant Boff seating.

Boo. Those damn DPS'ers ruin everything! Yes I am joking, and yes I know saying that also ruins the joke but I know what people are like around here :P

If built right one can get nearly 100% uptime with RSP on the galaxy. Other than that I agree. I would probably use TT on the galaxy anyway.

yeah totally lol, but it would be neat to use the Marauder to, you know, maraud with the shuttles and BP.
