Stability Update for the Holodeck server
Two weeks in a row with no information on specific issues. I understand companies are short-staffed during the holiday season, but are all of Cryptic's people on vacation in December?
Bah! humbug no they must be slaves they must fix the issue with the breen ships the heck with stability. make it so i can buy all my ships so i can have my breen set bonus and plesh brek pets. its insane how they release such buggy content to begin with to be honest. i mean do they not have a QA team to make sure these bugs don't Get Released on live. Is this not why we have tribble to test out and duplicate the bugs so they can be fixed before release.
How is it bad of them to make the servers more stable?
What more do you want them to tell you about it?
I understand people are frustrated with how things are done by Cryptic, I feel the same way, but at least give them a break during the holidays.
The "pretty bad" comment refers to the quality of the information, not the effort to make the system more stable (whatever that means).
Also, does making the system more stable preclude fixing other bugs? If so, that would be a helpful tidbit.
It's been said many times - a little communication to customers will produce a lot of patience and understanding. Lack of communications breeds frustration and mistrust.
they don't change the game in these types of patches. they change the software that involves interacting with the cogent servers so there's less connection and stability issues. it's the same thing they've been doing for 5 years now. there's no patch notes needed; and only an idiot would feel mistrust over them fixing server stability.

I may idiot for many reasons. However, I don't believe that being ignorant of the "interacting with the cogent servers" and other IT processes necessarily makes one an idiot.
Resorting to name-calling on the other hand...
Patch notes on a public forum could/should be expected to contain information that is useful to the public. What is being given if techno-babble for the masses.

i didn't call you a name, if you think anything i said applies to you that's all on how you see yourself.
so let me say it again for the slow: there are no patch notes because they're not patching anything in the game. they're patching the server software. get it?
Numerous times I've heard a developer mention that a particular project was worked on or completed on their own time. They deserve more good thoughts than they are receiving.
Frankly, I would rather they continue to work on the stability of the servers than spending time giving an in depth explanation.
LMAO! Give the greedy company that is destroying the Star Trek name a break? Humm.. what about no?
We are not all fanboys.
go read about gene roddenberry and cbs. then you'll know what greed means: such as gene adding words to the star trek theme song so he could get a royalty cut every time the song was used.
and how is star trek destroyed? sto isn't canon. sto's just a game. star trek is still there waiting for cbs to use it. it has nothing to do with sto.
and i think there's more people who feel jj destroyed star trek then anything sto ever did, as jj's stuff is canon.
Why continue playing the game if that's how you feel about it?
You dont get it, because you just think on the well fare of the company. Your only interesting is to please your heroes at cryptic.
To some of us, Star Trek is beyond CBS, Pramount or Cryptic. Yes, STO is on a sorry state due to the greed of CBS, Cryptic and PWE. But at the end of the day, is Star Trek, and until a few month ago was okey Star Trek.
That this mean we are going to cry in our bed and watch the greed destroy 50 years of history? No..
That is ok if you dont get it, maybe some day if cryptic is a danger you will understand the need of fight for what you love.
Until then, keep been the Cryptic Hero, and keep inviting ppl who disagree with your favourite company to leave, keep at it..

read his sig and think. he's one of the most vocal people against cryptic on the forum. he has no heroes at cryptic.
there's right things to complain about and there's wrong thing to complain about. server stability patches aren't a right thing to complain about as their purpose is to make the game playable for everyone.
so in the end you're just nerd raging because you can't play the game you seem to hate for a couple of hours. interesting.
So, if I'm understanding you correctly, you're going to continue to financially support a product that you don't like made by a company you despise, simply because this is Star Trek?
LOL what? You know you can still play this game with out spending a single dollar or dilithium for that matter, correct?
My stuff is all MK X to XII and I still do probably much more better than you.

OMG! THE SIG! YES!! That totally makes him a cryptic hater.. lol
so in the end it's confirmed: you're just a hater who's addicted to the game and can't quit. get some help, dude. playing things you hate just leads to frustration and insanity. break the addiction!
Well, I agree that there should be more info out there overall. The whole server stability upgrades thing to me is total BS and I'm being really negative here but, really?! They've done these over and over and the server stability has never gotten better. I've never experienced more disconnects and terrible lag in any other game than STO.
I really wish they'd just switch the servers to an entirely different company/location as these are on the east coast and I think that has a lot to do with our problems as Cryptic is on the opposite side of the country.
To talk about the communication overall, what can I say. I miss Branflakes. He was much better at engaging the community and talking to people instead of just constantly closing threads and hitting people with the ban hammer. Captain Smirk and Trendy barely interact at all and when they do it's either some pointless nonsense about bacon or other lame TRIBBLE.
I just get the impression that they're not particularly into the game and it's more of just a job for them than it was for Bran.
We really just need to lower expectations down to Cryptic's level and then we won't be bothered by such things. They're just not on the same level as some Devs when it comes to service and communication. Or even customer appreciation. Like, I also play World of Tanks and for Christmas they gave everyone -100% free no grind needed- a full 7 days of premium time which is huge and a ton of nice consumables.
What did Cryptic give it's players for Christmas? More grind and a bunch of sales.
Meh, ok that's the end of my negative ranting for the day haha

LMFAO! Due to the fact that I dont spend a single dollar in this game, and that I do well with MK XI and XII stuff, then that confirm that I am a sick person that and that I need help..

you do understand that if you hate something, but can't stop doing it, that you have an addiction issue? it doesn't matter how much money you spend; and it certainly doesn't matter how good you seem to think you are at it. if doing it causes nothing but anger and frustration to the point that you need to lash-out at strangers on the forum then you have a problem. get some help.

server stability changes all the time. it's not a constant that you can fix once and it never acts up again. parts wear out. connections get inundated with loose code fragments. just like your comp at home occasionally needs to be restarted so it runs properly so do servers.
the only difference between sto and many other games is that everyone plays in 1 server shard in sto where other games have multiple shards and so can shut them down independently. so while peacock server is down bluejay can still be up. other then that all games have server maintenance.
Yeah I bet this is a proactive reboot while everyone's out for the holiday. Better to have a single maintenance reboot than let everything go to TRIBBLE and have to call in a bunch of folks and deal with the resulting complaints if it craps out on its own.
Delta Rising is the best expansion ever and the players love it! No, seriously! ...Why are you laughing so hard?
Man seriously! if they offered you all 1000 Zen free each down time or even pages upon pages of detailed info on just "Server Stability Update" you would all (well some) find something to moan about as you would poke holes in something or another.
"Server Stability Update" is fine by mean it shows they are keeping things ticking over to keep the game running even when there are no patches for fixes etc, If I were you I would be worried if there was NO! down time at all etc then to me that would show a real!! problem and something is up.
So to the ones who find something to moan or rage about all the time you sooo need to chill and think OK cool they are taking it down to keep things running not "Oh i want!! more info".
