used the free mission transwarp for "Secrets of Nimbus" and everytime i try to start the game with my latest char, the game crashes to desktop. Can't be bothered to try it out with some other chars right now because i've had enough tries/ crashes already today.
"Second Star to the Right, Straight on 'til Morning" also seems bugged with the same results.
All files are verified, and even a safe login fails.
Error Ticket ID: 25664664
PS: i can not use this char anymore at the moment...
Game is still crashing when i try to join the game via that one char. Can one Dev please put this char into a save location, back to sector space or something? I can use the game with all the other chars just fine so it must have something to do with either the Nimbus system or the mission involved.
i cant create a romulan charecter because the video stops responding or crashes. then when i reload the charecter the video pops up and it happens again. i cannot skip it because it will crash, i cannot watch the video because it crashes after its over. forceverify, reinstaall, auto-detect settings dont work.

Sorry to hear that, but it is completely unrelated to my issue. Out of experience, I suggest that you create a seperate thread, because it is easier for the developers to work with.
On topic though, the game is still crashing to desktop when i try to load it with my latest char. If I where new to this game and this would have been my first char ever, I would have uninstalled the game a long time ago... but fortunately, I know that there are other things on the to do list... and since I do not have a response yet, I just keep trying and posting here.
To do so, on windows 7.
1. Press the Start button.
2. Type event in the search bar at the bottom.
a. Event Viewer will be one of the results
3. Click on the triangle/arrow next to Windows Logs to expand the menu.
4. Click on System in the Windows Logs sub-menu.
Now youll scroll through the list looking for any issues that have Source: Disk, and/or anything marked as Critical or Error. (Both of those have red icons, so they stand out.)

Thanks for the response. I wonder, did my crash report told you anything related to that advice? Because i could not find anything related to a disk drive error in the event log manager. Even after trying to start the game again with the char in question, there was no entry in the system log. I know that it can't repair bad sectors but wouldn't the file verification taking care of such issues or at least tell me when there are corrupt files? I have not checked the hard drive for any errors for a long time but i will do so now, and report back again...in 2 weeks or so ^^ j/k...it just takes so damn long
So chkdsk just finished... Phase 5: 141 million clusters in 15k/sec steps... yawn . Anyway, no bad sectors where found, however, two file related errors had to be corrected.
Then I ran STO's launcher file verification once again and it was downloading 5438MB of "patch files".
And tadaaa, I was just able to start the game again with the char in question, finally
I was thinking about using chkdsk at least at some point, but i rather prefer not doing it because it just takes ages to complete. I wonder how these files got corrupted anyway because I've got the game on this hard drive for years and the only thing I ever do is a defrag every few weeks.
Now, I've learned something here, and will try and optimize any further error tracking in the future before comming here and crying out loud and blaming your missions and what not, don't quote me on that though

Thank you very much for this. Really. I also have crashes but didnt knew the reason. Its not related to this thread, but using your advice found out it was a ntdll.dll crash. Still cant get it fixed, but at least I know where the problem is.
Thanks again.
Hey guys. I really need help.... I downloaded Arc again, after formating my computer, but now when i try to start STO... i gives this once i hit ingage:
Direct3DCreate9Ex(D3D_SDK_VERSION=x20) failed. Get LastError() = 5 "Access is denied."
Does anyone know what it means?

This happens for people where the game client crashes. Has been happening since the Winter event patch. What it specifically is calling for, I do not know.

I knew using Kinetics would be playing the game on hard mode, but what I didn't realize was how bad the deck is stacked against Kinetics.
