    I play the game. I don't grind, I don't ***** in the forums unless I ***** your ******** in the forums.

    And I'm having fun.

And yes this seems like a fanboy message and it is. DR has been nice so far for me.

If I were to be honest, probably addiction more than anything. Perhaps that's a bit belittling to the word. Let's call it a compulsion. Which is nothing new with STO. I typically get invested in a game and will play that game almost, if not totally exclusively. Especially when it comes to online games.

It's why I've shied away from MMORPGs in the past. I knew if I were to get hooked on one, it would probably get costly. I don't have any regrets with what I've spent on STO, but it is more than I've spent on many other games combined.

Between the financial investment and the fact I've logged in nearly everyday for almost 3 years now, well it's kind of become a habit. There's days, particularly when I have some free time, I just sit there in game. Not doing anything.

Do I want to take the time to form a team for something? No.
Do I want to Fail-Pug something? No. (Or I've already Fail-Pugged and am on CD)
Do I want to grind towards level 60? No.
Do I want to grind Voth ground? No.

Eventually I get to the question "what am I doing here?" and log off. That's not to say I don't still have fun with STO. And most days I don't have long to game anyway, so I just have a quick grind of whatever I'm needing.

But, I will say I'm not having as much fun as I used to. I miss switching ships on a whim. Now, each captain has one T5FU or T6 ship and stays planted in it. I miss switching loadouts at will. Now, each ship has only one loadout set being upgraded. I miss more variety in queues being played. Not that it was ever perfect, but there were definitely better days.

    Bah, rambling. Sorry.

Much shorter answer: Re-up my R&D research, run my race and "try" to earn some Mats to work on those upgrades.

    Force of habit?

I mostly just turn in contraband, queue up doff assignments, and help people in the fleets when they need an invite or a special project or something.

That and a lot of standing around at the exchange.

I log in to play the game. Currently, I'm leveling a new toon, James R. Church (bonus points if you get both references), who flies versions of the Enterprises (currently in the Ambassador-class USS Endeavor, NCC-98375-C); occasionally working with my Tellarite Vazlav (Tac captain, flying exclusively escorts - the Patrol Escort USS Halsey kicks some pretty serious can); and sometimes going back to my main, the steadily-chewing-through-DQ Admiral Sills (commanding the Odyssey prototype USS Hans Asperger).

Too tedious to grind patrols to level up for story missions.

Yeah so why do you guys log in?

I'd like to see more activity as well, but it's not true that pugging is now impossible. I got all the STF's optionals (unfortunately no accolade since it's bugged, but anyway) and none of the missions I played was a premade. I had to retry KASA once, but otherwise all perfect runs.

I'm also level 53 on a new character and I haven't played a single patrol mission or new episode since level 50 yet. Just doff assignments and the STF's and other missions like Starbase incursion I enjoy. I got from level 50 to 53 in (estimate) one week.

A variety of things. Currently, I am mostly logging in to advance Crafting and Delta Reputation, and to do the daily race for the Breen ships. I missed the last 2 Winter Events. Sometimes I take a tour on the ice skates or shoot some snowmen. And I DOFF, of course. I actually now have 1 character that completed all DOFF commendations. (Does that make me slow?)

Sometimes I log in to blow stuff up. Sometimes to do story missions (but I have already played through the DR missions once so currently, it's not big incentive).

Sometimes I look in and just end up looking at my space ship.
I like spaceships. I really do.

I do the WW race for the ships on all my toons. Then I hang out and talk with fleet mates maybe we do 1 STF. Some doffing, some fleet work, But honestly if it were not the people in my fleet and some of the cool people in the game I would split.

I log in because I am still having fun. If I wasn't having fun, I wouldn't be playing anymore. I've quit most of the MMOs I've tried (including that popular big-name MMO which just got its cap raised to 100) because I got so freaking bored of those games. And yet, after nearly five years, I'm still not bored of STO. I still enjoy trying different ships/gear/builds, making alts (yes, even after DR), playing Foundry missions, and using the dil exchange to buy stuff without actually buying stuff. Mind you, I'm not happy with everything Cryptic has done (for instance, I too am immensely frustrated by the interminable spec tree grind and the ludicrous upgrade costs), but by and large, I'm having a blast, and I hope to continue having a blast for many years to come.

Nothing anymore. Sick of the constant hate that I am getting for absolutely no reason. No good deed goes left unpunished.

Before that, it was mostly R&D stuff.

Just read your website to see what the latest giveaway stuff was about. Man, I didn't know you've actually been put on ignore by Al/Trevor...that is some major league failure then. Really goes to show they care about the community.

On the plus side, you do a good thing for the new guys in game. It's such a shame that others for whatever reason have essentially ruined it for you. Most likely jealousy. It's wrong that nothing is done about this.

As to why I login to the game? Chat with fleeties and ESD zone chat....I really don't know what some of the people are on there... :D

Orion dancing girls at the Fleet starbase. Nuff said.

I sit at the stage and repeatedly type in, "Dance! Dance I say!"

Won't you join me for a tankard of blood wine?

By the way...the Orion females need more uniform options.

Right now, I'm logging it to put things on the exchange, collect rewards on assignments, start new assignments, refine dilithium and try upgrading the off item 8k of dilithium will allow me to...I usually can't make a dent, even when I complete the upgrade, because it doesn't actually, but after I've done that, I log back out.

Dude. I've been seeing nothing but "dissenting threads" in here. And been shouted down plenty for daring to disagree. Who's censoring whom here?

Now, if you can express your "dissent" without flaming those who disagree, you should be able to keep a thread open indefinitely - some here have. But if you can't do it without violating the ToS, well, this is PWE property, and they aren't required to let you stand in their metaphorical living room shouting expletives.

I have been doing all the stuff I always have done, at the moment mostly just playing the winter event, even though I have had the ships on all my characters for ages but its still fun and once it closes I cant go there so might as well play it now while I can but some of my normal stuff also.

in general before the event all the stuff I normally do, some stf`s with fleetmates and qued, I did a few qued ones over the weekend as I had some extra time.
maybe some stuff from the mission folder available tab like the big dig or deferi missions, might do some dyson missions or maybe some foundery missions, do the academy lore and maybe tag some epohh, maybe do a few encounter missions or I might if I have time finish up the DR story missions as I have been lv60 on all my characters for about a month and I am still only about half way through them.

of course theres always the upcoming events to do like anniversary & summer and there is bound to be some crystalline entity and mirror events coming up next year.
might even get to replay some of the early story missions if they rerun the lobi event.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

    1) Being disagreed with is not "being censored".
    2) I think people would like PWE/the forum mods to treat us like valued customers. Personally, I haven't felt that way either with the game or the forum.

Just DOFFing and R&D. Log in, log out. There just isn't anything left in the game to do since they killed endgame. I can get like two queues to pop leaving me with very little to do once they are exhausted.
