There's a serious flaw with this, however. It prevents a player from being invited to private PvE queues as well, which effectively destroys their ability to play the game if they use chat channels for missions.
You folks need to fix the game. Settings like this are a stopgap measure for players that do not absolve PWE of its responsibility to police player actions.
This times a billion. Kill tha ability before it even clicks on you.
Yeah I have this option and Privacey settings on Friends / Fleet only. Still does no good and i continue to get spammed.
I am not a PVPer even though I have dabbled occasionally. I have nothing against those who do. But something needs to be done to address the issue. Getting spammed outright lessens the gmes enjoyability.
This assumes STO even has GM's to begin with... :P
They likely run under 20th Generation Advanced Ultra Elite Gold quality Cloaking, set in "I don't give a **** about your whiney problems, We have your money, Mode."
The problem with this is that those existing tools are not always working. Which, unless I am mistaken, is the point that someone was attempting to make.

I'm positive this game does not have GM's.
If you need proof, just go stand in ESD for more then 5 min. The 'discussion' there is nothing but constant violation of the TOS and nothing is ever done. All the conversation is people slamming peoples religious beliefs, political beliefs, sexual preference, race, etc.
The conversation you see in STO is stuff that would not fly in ANY other MMO on the market. Between that and the fact that we have this guy who has been spamming everyone for months, it's pretty clear that Cryptic does not have the ability to ban players from the game.
The report player option is a placebo. You click it and it makes you feel like something is being done, but it never is. I honestly don't believe that Cryptic has any tools to reprimand players at all. In the world of STO, everything goes.

As I've tried to point out earlier in this thread, to no avail....
Some of us actually need that option open for a reason.

I wish it wasn't true, but it is.
