I've been a player of STO since the release of Season 3 and first few years it was a wonderful. I loved the Romulan campaign and especially the Cloaked Intentions feature episodes. But over the last eighteen months, I've been increasingly uninterested in playing.
It all started with the release of The 2800. It didn't feel like I was playing a "Star Trek game" but rather a game with Star Trek over the top of it. I was thrilled that for the 2nd episode I would get the chance to explore Bajor- or at least a bit of it. But instead, Of Bajor became a tedious slog of mini missions involving NPC's I didn't care about. Walking across DS9's hull sounded cool... and it was first... for the first minute. Then it became deathly dull. I was left utterly bored by the entire mission chain.
Things haven't got any better. Nimbus III tests my patience with its dull, lifeless atmosphere and the ridiculous amounts of log, the Romulan-exclusive missions end far too quickly, the STFs don't hold their appeals since they split up into Space and Group portions and whenever I am in the Solanae Dysonn Sphere I feel like I'm playing Halo!
The game just doesn't feel like a Star Trek game anymore. It feels more like a cash grab by the devs. It's become a "Pay to Win" mess. I am prepared to shell out £30 for a T6 ship when the devs will chuck out a newer, better ship and expect us to shell out MORE money for it. It's disgusting.
I'd like to be persuaded to stay in all honesty. I want to feel like I did when I first logged on, but as it stands now- STO is nothing more than a money hungry mess.
