He should have just tossed on FBP + RSP...all that damage you throw out with SS. Then he wouldn't need to resort to using something cheesier than velveeta.

but yeah you're right, too much QQ spilling over to the forum lately.
You're touching an interesting topic nontheless. About 1v1s, let me iterate what I've been saying for quite some time now:
An increasing number of people wrongfully read 1v1s as a significant/valid measurement tool for skill. People play games like Street Fighter or StarCraft, and in these kind of games the outcomes of 1v1s are generally accepted as valid skill measuring. It is a fallacy to carry over that logic to 1v1s in STO. For the life of me I do not understand why people are falling for this logical fallacy.
For a true 1v1 test of might, ships, character classes and so on would require a heavy balance pass first, there a just too many flaws, gaps and loopholes in this games' "logic" that can be exploited in duelling. The overwhelming majority of match-up possibilities are simply nonsensical.
One of the very few somewhat sensible match-ups would be an escort vs. escort duel, and even such a match-up would still require some restrictions followed by both participants to not end up in a farce as well. That has been the case for as long as I've been playing PvP.
Hannibal is a damn good escort duelist. That's what caught my attention back then and why I picked him up.
The problem is, by definition escort duelling is very exclusive in its nature (duuh).
It excludes sci ship players, cruisers, faw, fbp, wells tif stuff and other gimmicky toys etc. And people don't like to be excluded. Him playing some duels with a PartGen Sci ship is intended to expose the absurdity of some peoples notion that unrestricted 1v1s have any validity.
We once did a test of sorts. We told some PvE noobs to buy a certain sci ship and to run a very specific build. After 5 days, those utterly inexperienced players were effectivly capable to beat roughly 90% of the PvP playerbase. Skills my TRIBBLE

I may be reading this wrong so I shall ask; is this a subtle way of saying you believe that Science Vessels with a Science Captain don't require any skill to use?
Sad truth, it's generally easier and more accurate to predict the winner of a 1 v 1 just by asking either parties ship and build. The semi serious comment I made in the poofed thread that only virus picked up on and hanks comparisson to starcraft are true. Even when you get down to escort vs escort there are still avenues of advantage which can be exploited.
As for the pve noobs part, if this was recent, more proof the scryer is just the flagship of the end of pvp. If it predated the scryer, I'd love to see the experiment rerun lol.

Sorry I should have phrased it more clearly, but no, thats not what I was trying to say.
In their own way, every ship and every build requires some form of skill. But the skills required are different.
It's like comparing apples and oranges, or comparing boxers from different weight classes. Who is the better boxer: Klitschko (heavyweight champion of the world) or Floyd Mayweather (welterweight champion)?
If both boxers ever fought each other, a Klitschko would murder Floyd. Does that mean Klitschko is the better boxer, has more skill? Of course not.
It would be a silly match-up. Just as most 1v1 match-ups in STO.

Alright, thanks for the clarification. I agree with you; a fair number of matches are no contest in 1v1. For example, an escort or aux2bat cruiser is going to lose in a 1v1 every time against a 450 flow caps + seggis scramble drain boat. You just can't fight that without science team and science spam of your own. I suppose you could try to fight it with counters, but that requires specifically re-tuning a build every time one faced a new opponent.
In a way the same is true of Ground PvP 1v1s, but to a much lower degree. Builds are very fluidic and it isn't uncommon for players to completely swap out gear layouts mid match. There's more of an arms race, knowing your own build's strengths and weaknesses, and then switching builds when fighting an opponent exploiting your weakness. In a way the match gets a little silly because players go through a half dozen different gear loadouts over the course of a 15 minute match.
Eheh, hannibal is one of the top escort pilot out there, his level is comparable to chuck and very very few others. He's HARD to take down, and when you do it, it's for an error or just luck, because he knows evertyhing of the game and he actually reads the opponent style adapting. And i say that only by my p.o.v. when i encountered him outside of 1v1 ( we have to arrange a match sometime  )
All in all, yeah guys it's crazy weird to 1v1 outside of escort vs escort.... kinda always was wasn't it....
But really Hannibal is a great friend who I love to poke at sometimes..... he usually then finds a way to goad me into a 1v1 soon after to beat me senseless.
Crazy thing is.... I have recently been taking the same boat into arenas and Kerrat and stomping multiple people at 1 time because of this crazy surgical strikes plus mk14s. I mean, it's downright nuts.
Anywhos glad to see this hasn't turned into a troll fest or rager thread yet.... let's see what happens in the coming hours..... *knocks on wood*
Have fun kill bad guys (especially that Hannibal guy)
Hank made a comparison to StarCraft? Hank, 1v1 StarCraft 2? Or I'll even play BroodWar. Let's do it.
LotV closed alpha ended last weekend. Time table for open beta is weekend after xmas or first week of january. Make sure you BNid is set up for beta access to starcraft cuz LotV is gonna be amazing from what I've gotten to play so far. Terrans new unit is essentially the most gross micro machine ever. Much heavier focus on micro and apm in LotV. Not to the point that you're gonna need to be korean to beat single player, but don't expect a move hero to be as effective as it was thankfully

from what little i know about starcraft, just watch streamers on twitch wile eating sometimes, terran bio is already micro incarnate, and thats going to get doubled down on with some new units? oh boy. about time the 3rd part comes out, im just good enough at that game to get through the campaign lol.

Yeah, I'm signed up for the beta, but from my understanding it's not a guarantee that you will get in if you signed up.
So I take it my 25 apm is not gonna cut it in LotV as Terran? That's ok, I'll just play Protoss and make Void Rays and Colossi kekekeke.
Nerd-rage!
Ill get Hannibal for you some day when we are on and have time to fight again. To fight him though I have to set up my ship in pvp config with a pvp cpt speck!

my friend damian, you dont need to take this match too seriously, the real skillful 1v1 duelling has become extinct for quite a while now, the quality of equipment and the amount of clickable setbonuses/consoles play more and more an essential role for these kind of matches with each change cryptic makes, unfortunately. From what I can say about my setup is that I am nearly outmaxed equip-wise and got half of the intel tree filled up so far. you ain't even lvl 60 so thats another technical disadvantage right there.
The reason why I have been utilizing the build in duels is to show opposing players, which feel "cool" about using those builds in 1v1 pvp, what happens to them if being in the hands of "experienced" players and I was suprised how effectively it can melt down enemy ship's hp. I even haven't had many issues to take down some equally built t6 scryers in direct encounters yet although they were running their powerful fed starship traits and the whole intel feelgood program (lol).
the most valid unit of measurement that's left in order to evaluate the skill level of pvp players are 1v1 tac escort vs tac escort with special restrictions such as the VPvP set of rules for instance (equal quality of equipment, same ships etc).
Btw you should show up on ts more often so that we can play together more frequently, we're missing ya^^.

ptfff, no excuse then :P
but, from what i can tell, Hannibal is the single best geared player in the game right now, from what ive seen him droped in opvp chat every so often.
not saying he inst a great player, but i sure do miss the days of skill>gear. i literally cannot pvp anymore, with no weapons upgrades.
Na omega, he didn't fbp.
Got my TRIBBLE stuck in a few Web mines tho.
