If Arc/Cryptic were to end the gambling system and sell a top prize ship (Voth Bulwark, Elachi Sheshar, Xindi Narcine, etc) to you directly, what would you consider to be a fair cash price?

when the DQ got out, i opened 550 lock boxes. out of that 550 lock boxes i got 4 ships, 3 new T6F and elachie escort + 2900 loby crystals (that would be 3 additional ships). so 550$ for 7 ships equals 80$.

are you willing to pay 80$ for a ship? or simply buy keys for ec (like i did), and then open boxes for free.

or you can sell keys (you need round 40 keys) to be able to buy most of the box ships.

(by the way i bought all 550 keys for free)

its not free, its just increasingly discounted the longer an LTS plays

I think you quoted the wrong post but, yeah I agree, which is why I used the term "arguably" - if I hadn't, someone would probably have made that "arguably" point in an argumentative post somewhere.

My guess is "hope" keeps people not playing but posting on the forums. For others, its a path of sad realization and closure. Grieving takes time. The worst "haters" here love the game, or did at some point.

Ummm. To say that cryptic is against gambling because they are a western company is not the best kind of reasoning. At that point I would have to say that Los Vegas is asian.

Ummm. To say that Las Vegas is Asian because I said Asian MMOs tend to love gambling is not the best kind of reasoning. At that point I would have to say that Los Vegas is an MMO...?

Sure Why not. Some of those machines are hooked up to a server somewhere with all of them drawing from the same pool of odds.

Never mind what is fair ... consider what they cost right now.

    T5 Zen... $25
    T6 Zen... $30
T6 Fleet... (Expected cost $40-50 depending on actual module count)
T5 Lobi... 800 Lobi (20,000 zen) $200 max (actual average is 5 lobi for an average cost of $160)
T6 Lobi... 900 Lobi (22,500 zen) $225 max (actual average is 5 lobi for an average cost of $180)
Limited time ships (Jem Attack / Bull / Elachi Dread) Based aprox on chance pull $500

That is what they COST right now.

Those are some frightening numbers right there ... even from an owners POV ... .
If you are not willing to spend $500 on one of the limited time ships... then don't buy into there promos. That simple.

Suggesting that they are going to take any of the ships they make $500 or so on each Right now and sell them for 50 bucks is just nuts.

I'm not sure the OP suggested the lockbox ships to be sold in the same price category as a Dyson or a Scimi, but rather if we were willing to pay "premium" next to the C-stores "regular" prices .

Thus the question for me is what can be considered "premium" between 50-500$ ?

    What a Crock of S...

MOST people are "Grinding Dilithium" and "Buying Zen on the Exchange" to get the boxes for the ship. That nets Cryptic NOTHING ! ! !

How is Cryptic paying for content?

...but, in order for the zen to get onto the dilithium exchange, some player needs to purchase it with cash. 'Free' ships are paid for through zen purchases, which are turned into dilithium and c-store items. If the majority of the players are grinding dilithium, with only a few people buying zen, Star Trek: Online would have to close its doors tomorrow. Cryptic would not generate enough revenue to pay for expenses. Someone has to pay for the electricity, developers, artists, heat, water, servers, employee computers, etc...

    Zen buyers, mostly whales, pay for a 'non-paying' F2P player's c-store purchases.

When it comes to Free2Play players, I bet the majority have bought zen.

I was a 'paying' Free2Play player who spent between $500-$600 on zen.

    I am not alone.

I personally think a very small pool of players have not bought zen.
