The lockbox system needs a secondary prompt for opening ships, and lockbox ships need to be 1 per character. There is no reason to have both the T5 AND the T5-U on a character, and the system already recognizes that you cannot have two of the same ship (yet T5-U and T5 ships "aren't the same")

More likely he will get a rude message, saying
"This ticket will now be closed, and communication ended. Further persistence on this matter may be viewed as harassment and disciplinary action taken against the account."
T5-U or, not T5-U shouldn't matter from a programming perspective imo!
Plain and simple, you should not be able to obtain 2 of the exact same vessels from lockboxes, via opening them for personal use.

One of my toons, I lost track of what I was doing and have 2 maha raptors on it. And that is obviously not a t5U version and t5 version, its two identical ships, only difference is one is in use with gear and the other is still as-unpacked.

You can clearly not have 2 of the same ships (unpacked). This is no doubt due to the Upgrade system not realizing the two ships are, in fact, the same; but that is absolutely, in no way whatsoever, the OP's fault. Cryptic simply owes him a new ship (ideally, they'd go wild and actually fix the bug too, but that's maybe asking too much).
BTW I've tried to get the GMs to do things in this game. Every single time they have responded that fixing things in the game, isn't their job. I think their only function is to tell people to post bug reports.

C-store vessels are understandable, as you may have deleted a unique console and, it may/may not be retrievable via the dilithium reclaim store.
Besides, they are account infinite reclaimable vessels, unlike the lobi or, lockbox and C-store packs!
