Fleet K'tinga retrofit

I started DR by upgrading a Fleet Tor'khat and a Fleet K'tinga to T5-U. Because I wasn't sure what to expect of the Delta Quadrant opponents, I initially ran with the Fleet Tor'khat for more hull. I just switched to the K'tinga. The turn rate is so much better on the K'tinga! It's a real pleasure to fly compared to the Tor'khat.

I'm level 57 now, but will fly to 60 with the K'tinga unless I run into something I need the extra hull points to take down.

Hoping Cryptic revisits the Koro'tinga skin and beefs it up a bit.

I like mine too, but im sticking with my Fleet Negh'Var for now. What bothers me about the K't'inga is the FX bug with the nacelles. One of the reasons that keep me from using mine.

I have the KHG shields which make some other parts light up nicely. Sort of compensates a bit for that bug. Would be nice to see them fix that for sure though.

I am with you on this ship. I have several characters all flying different styles and different ships, but this one, particularly for the new content, has been the most fun for me. The turn rate is just about perfect, at least for PvE. Its good enough for any situation, but still feels like a starship, not a fighter. I am also putting out enough damage that the new enemies seem like they can take the kind of pounding that you would expect from a capital ship but without the game becoming tedious. And this is with an old build from the release of the new romulus content. Overall the K'tinga feels like it achieves the perfect balance of being fun and challenging (sometimes) without turning space combat into a chore. I recommend anyone who likes battlecruisers to give this old boat a chance. Like the OP said, its a pleasure to fly.

I really wish Cryptic would give this ship a once-over, like they did the Intrepid and a few others; it really deserves it.

Also, your post made me want to go buy one for my KDF engineer...

My Klingon is my main because of this ship. I think the Vorcha has higher DPS though so I don't know why you prefer the K't'inga for DR content.

Its all a matter of how a ship "feels" as well. People keep worshiping the Scimitar to high DPS heavens, yet I have little to no joy flying her. The K't'inga feels agile and hits just hard enough for me.

The K't'inga is special to me, because to me its THE Klingon vessel. Taking the rather plain looking D7 and turning her into a work of art, model wise. Its just a shame that the model in STO is so lackluster and was obviously rushed (I believe the devs even admitted that a few weeks back). Hopefully we can fix this ships appearance. If they do, I'm flying it in a heartbeat.
I've flown her in all of the Starfleet Command games as my main Klingon ship and would love to do so again.

This ship was the flagship of the Klingon empire (Quonos I) and was flown by the Chancellor that made the Khitomer Accords possible. It deserves to look nice.

This is also the only fleet ship that I ever bought twice for the full price of 4 modules to fly her on different characters.

The Fleet-K't'inga is by far the best purchase I ever made in this game. I just love that old Lady. It's a cruiser with the turn rate of an escort. Beams, torps, DHCs, everything works on it.
And using the the D7 skin on your fleet ship just makes you laugh at "T5 Connie" threads :D ONE thing the KDF got!

Ah, it's good to see I'm not the only one.

It reminds me of the old STOS Klingon D7 that I remember from watching the show when I was just a young 'un :)

For a long time, my Gorn engineer flew the non-Fleet retrofit. A fine, fine ship that did everything I asked of her. I never got the fleet upgrade, though; for months I vacillated between buying the Fleet K'tinga or the Negh'var, and by the time our fleet's shipyard hit Tier 4, the Mogh was released and I bought that. :)

After leveling through to 60 with the Fleet K'tinga retrofit, I'm at 75,500 hull and 23,500 shield facings. Not too bad. And...I still can take some MK XIV consoles from Ultra Rare to Epic and squeeze out some more points.

How... THE HELL... can you say you're at 75k hull? My char that uses the FKR T5U is nearing 60 (not there yet) but has all ship mastery unlocked and tops out about 37-38k (notably UP from the idiotically low 26k you get to begin with).

I'm also going to call BS on 23k shield facing. I don't even think sci ships with 1.4 multipliers can hit that with any shield in the game.

Oh my goodness! When I'm in Q'onos space, and I hit stats and look at defensive stats, that's what's showing. Is it possible to post a picture or a screenshot using this forum? Not sure if it is...would be glad to do so though.

I thought that was great also, by the way. I was very pleasantly surprised to see those numbers. I have all MK XIV gear, mostly at Ultra Rare, some at Very Rare and three consoles are Epic. Anyway, if we can find a way to post screenshots, I'll post them.

I'm actually working on taking one console Epic right now that should increase the shield facings.

    Thanks, Rodentmaster.

One possibility...did you know that to see what your ship's modified statistics are you have to be in Q'onos space? If you were on some other map and you looked at your stats, you would see the unmodified version of them.

Also...don't forget your reputation Space skills. They can give you very good hull and shield boosts.

Well.. that is true. However, you get 10% here, 10% there, at most. I don't see how that could more than double it all.

I'm really going to have to double check what mine are showing later tonight.

I think I know a way where I can post screenshots to a website and then post a link. When I get home this evening, I'll endeavor to do that. Wouldn't BS you though. WOuld be more than happy to let anyone know what gear I'm using and what skills I've selected.

As was told to me early on by another player, if you beef up on defense, you'll take away from firepower...generally speaking.

Will post the links here when I have something up.

There are science consoles that add 15% and 20% to shields.

    Thanks.

Yeah ships have gotten lots of love but the universe they exist in is extremely broken. Apparently someone at Cryptic installed the kobyashimaru or however it is spelled for every advanced/elite que lol. So pretty to look at but don't expect any miracles to happen when they leave space dock.

I got the regular Retrofit after farming stuff for months with my KDF for fleet projects. Even jump started several after others gave up. And finished them too.

I been using it since as my main KDF ship. To me its legendary and I still plan on using it to come.

Yeah at least the one really good thing about the KDF is we get our TOS Connie rofl well D7 but you know what I mean :D

Reminds me of an idea I had years ago to have a KDF weekend thing setup as in game event and could use forums to share the builds and such but it could consist of players using nothing but D7's and b'rels lol. Only problem is the game is in such peril right now I think the factions might actually be balanced right now.

The other KDF ship I love to use is the Kamarag. Its looks like a D7/K'Tinga on steroids. IF I didn't have my retro I got from the Fleet Store. I would used it instead.

Rodentmaster...check this link to see a screenshot of my K'tinga's stats. Take a look under the defense stats that were up on the screen when I took the screenshot. These numbers are possible.

That is a lot of hull for what was one of the more weaker hulled Battlecruisers the KDF has. Wow...

I salute you my good Sir!
Respect for iconic ship enthusiasts and it always warms my heart when I see a K'tinga in game. :) This is truly majestic.

You just ignited the spark and gave me some ideas to play around with on my Fleet K'tinga. I might even end up upgrading the old gal.

Goodscotch just showed anything is possible with the right build. Even making the old D7/K'Tinga can make a sweet ship.

This is why I still use mine. It can hold its own.

    What? The purple XIVs?

The upgrade ripoff, I mean scam, I mean... what are they calling it again? Ah yes, the Upgrade "feature."

And yes it can cost a lot of Zen, in that you might need to turn all the zen to dilithium (part of their ri-- er, sca--- er,... "feature."). You may need to buy keys and sell on exchange to get ECs to buy millions and millions of ECs worth of tech upgrades and research accelerators.

It's possible to get by without, but it takes a TRIBBLE-ton of resources and a crapton^3 of dilithium to do it, with a metric crapton of time included.

Yes, it did. You either have to grind to eternity or pay for it. I paid. The thing with me is, many players have a ton of characters and ships...I don't. I have one character and two ships, so for me to shell out some money isn't as monumental and expensive as it would be for many players who want to bring all their characters and ships up to spec.

That having been said, these numbers are possible...even with a K'tinga.

Latest patches have increased the stats on my Fleet retrofit K'tinga. Hull now nearing 80,000 and shield facings nearing 24,000. Resistances have also increased slightly. Nice!
