Solo only queue would be nice. This duo queue that we have is nothing better than any other premade pug stomping area. Only elitist duo teams play it anyway!
1.It has come to the point where no content being added for pvp EVER!!!
2.They do not test skills/items vs player ships then adapt their npc ai to take damage or react how they want them to EVER!!!
3.When pvpers test it on tribble they do not listen EVER!!!
They fix those 3 simple things it will help pvp out a lot.
Long ago i suggested they put in neutral zone instances where people can fight for control to give their faction bonuses to pve loot or whatever they want. But did they even take a look at the form post that many other people replied to nope...
The reason pvpers are still here is because its the only star trek game around and maybe we want to shoot at trek ships and they know this.
They always wonder why we are on the forms being angry people its because if you ignore the hungry dogs bark long enough it might start to bite and eat you.
Will they look at this post probably not I think the devs for this game work 1 hour shift then go home
I will say this they did do well enough on DR pve stuff but that keeps one occupied for a short time WE WANT PVP the only end game content in any mmo think about it cryptic when people finish the pve content and there is no good pvp what will people do?.... No clue ehh I know go to another game that has end game content then after the other game gets more fun they drop yours. Better hope another star trek does not come out and delivers this content!
Theoretically there are ways to reboot PVP and restore it to its S1.2 glory, but I don't think that Cryptic is interested in pursuing them because a balanced PVP and their current monetisation strategy don't work well together. I think the best one can hope for is a change in leadership and that someone takes over who is more interested in providing a great game and making a reasonable amount of money than providing a barely acceptable game and making boatloads of money.
Fixing pvp here would require more than what imo cryptic/pwe are willing to do so for pvp may aswell play other games lots have been listed but heres another to consider also- its definately pure pvp. http://worldoftanks.com/clanwars/
What timezone do you typically observe this? I haven't been able to enter a queue since DR landed.
Yeah the queues are mostly empty. I got it to pop today but harrasing all of my friends and the 5 people in kerrat, I was able to get 8 people into the queue and we were able to play C&H. But it took me 30 mins straight to beg and ask everyone I could think of to queue up.
The game isn't going backwards, so PvP needs to build on what exists now, rather than what "once was" or "could be with 10,000 changes"
PvP can not be balanced for match play in STO anymore, but if we are being honest it was never really balanced for match play so that isn't actually new.
That means new PvP needs to be based on faction and be much more expansive in size. It needs large, battlezone sized open maps, layered objectives, and leverage zones where factions can have up to 50 players per team, up to 4 teams at a time (200 players per zone), and each team must consist of an alliance of at least X number of fleets with Y number of unique characters per fleet (Y should equal at least 50). And yes, we know the Cryptic engine can handle that type of gameplay load because it handled that many players for Lineage 2 for a long time.
Factions should not be racial - like KDF or FED - rather should be Fleet or Alliance centric towards a pattern that encourages larger communities in STO.
Finally, needs to be event driven with legitimate rewards for winners with some influence in game. I still say the best way to do this is to allow for certain crafting items to be available only to the alliance that "owns" a territory based on a 2 week event cycle (multiple events per week, each on a two week ownership cycle, and mixed time zones to include EU and US playerbases), and because there are multiple territories - each one can have it's own unique set of items. No resales, these special items are bound to character and only available to alliance that holds the territory. The items need not only be gear, they could also be something as simple as ship skins and costumes in some cases, or DOFFs.
The sooner STO PvP stops trying to find the perfect match play that revolves around 5v5 queues and transitions towards open PvP zones, the sooner PvP will actually have a future in STO.
It is time to stop pretending... under DR there is no hope for PvP in STO based around 5v5 anymore. That type of PvP really did die with DR, and no developer can wave a magic wand to fix that. Time to move on towards bigger zones with a broader varity of objectives that mixes PvP with NPC and requires strategy AND tactics to win, because unless the match arenas themselves start to match the complexity of player ship builds with DR, there simply won't ever be enough dynamics to create more than a few predictable outcomes in PvP.
Make a new queue. Honorable PVP. This form of pvp will reward xp during the match and other things (dil ore, crafting mat boxes, and maybe mark boxes) after the match. The only way to get into this queue is for players to reward you honor after normal queued pvp.

Some add things to the foundry, other works on maps on their free time, and so on. But no one even moves a finger for PVP.
With this I dont mean that a dev should work for free on their free time for PVP, but it shows you how no ones gives a dam about PVP.
The last cryptic/PWE empoyer who did SOMETHING for PVP was banefrankes with the PVP bootcamp.. the rest I bet they not even know that STO has PVP.

lulz, got as least me ... though that seems not what i'm out for when logging into the sto of my dreams lol ...
Or they read the title of the thread and closed it pretty quickly...
...cause ground games with PvP are a dime for a couple hundred dozen.
edit: Though, folks should read the first reply in that thread.
Things like Beam boats destroying everything and everyone (100+k dps and SS3 beam boats)
Thats 3x MORE dps than science or escorts can even dream about. Why would you fly any other class when your outclassed 300% by damage per second...???
FBP = 3x of you shooting your self.... thats not OP /S....
Players disabling you for 10 or more seconds (full tray lockouts) with no counters or counters that fail to activate in time.
Insane vaping with T6 ships and neutronic torp doing 40k hits. Vaping 3 players with nuetronic torp spread. ????
So many clickly vaping consoles now + disable abilities = inescapable death.
There's probably a huge list of things that are way overpowered and way underpowered.

STO is a hell of a lot less balanced in open world than in 5 v. 5, I can assure you.
