How will the Iconian plot conclude?

There are several conclusions one might draw about how the Federation will eventually destroy its greatest enemy ever, but what will it be like? Will we have to resort to the measures of Section 31? Will we fight to the last man? Will we use their own psychology against them? What will we lose in that final battle? How will the Iconians meet their doom, and what kind of after effects will it have on the Federation? Drawing from what we know now, what would the Star Trek Online "series finale" be like?

    With a nerf. Obviously.

The last time they were taken down was through an alliance of races, so I imagine we are headed very much in that direction again. But first we'll have to discover where they are livining - the ploint point at the end of the DR missions may be a step in that direction.

It will be revealed that Iconians are humans from the future that escaped some enemy by going back thousands of years. Due to the paradox created by destroying humans, the Iconians are forced to end the war to protect their existence.

Sounds like we have author here! Iconians ancient race much older than Vaadwaur race. Just have to wait and see what's going to happen in 2015 if there will be content based only Iconians and the other races that are on their side which we only know of 3 or 4 so far.

Right now none of the races we have encountered can stand up to them. Magical Iconians to me look like the Shadows Race from the other space series of the 90's. Those were really bad more evil than friendly.

In any case maybe all this tougher missions and high hull ships is just the beginning of what's to come from STO?

i cant see a superhero inspired trek game resort to methods coming even close to section 31 standards.
a heroic fight to the death is not likely to happen.
remember even sto has to follow established trek canon to a point, that means the federation and klingons still exist beyond the part to play in this game.
we already done that in a reveal with a iconian threat ending with 6 klingons dead.
more like what would one gain, even in loss one can find something they gain from it.
like any enemy, dead zerg and napalm or in this case iconians.
the federation they are one of 3 groups that are pushing this, dont forget the empire and romulans.
same question as the one you asked about the iconian doom.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

Not sure about that one. Q wants to see humanity pass on to become infinite, and this is a necessary staple in man's evolution. If it were removed, if all obstacles are removed from humanity, they would not grow but remain stagnant at that point.

Maybe we will actually do some diplomacy for once... Sometimes it seems like we forgot what side of the Mirror Universe we are on. Except if your playing as a Klingon. Then you get every mission turned into "kill this guy" and "kill 5 of these ships".

There will be an epic series of battles, drawing upon all of our collective strengths - with an alliance of Federation, Klingons, both sets of Romulans, Undine, and Borg. At the end, when we've chased the Iconian leadership down and they're huddling in their subspace base, waiting for the end, the echo of Jean-Luc Picard will emerge from the Nexus and deliver a Reason You Suck speech so powerful, the Iconians will surrender immediately and join us.

And we will all join together to kick Q's TRIBBLE. The end.

I hope we don't ever get to shoot and destroy them in STO. They're basically Trek's Cthulu, an unstoppable, utterly powerful enemy. The day that we destroy an Iconian ship will be a sad day. As someone said, how about some diplomacy?

If their goals were to kill or enslave everyone and conquer the galaxy, they would have done so by now. Something is preventing them from acting. Their technology may be advanced, even beyond our understanding, but they are not powerful. They need proxies to do their dirty work.

I really hope Cryptic has something creative in mind and don't turn the Iconians into another generic trash mob NPC group to deal with.

I wouldn't mind if everyone, all the enemy and ally factions in the game teamed up to take them down by combining technology and numbers, or something like that.

Oh, it'll prolly have the cliche ending with everyone singing kumbaya around the remnants of the new Iconian home world that the alliance went all Shinzon on...

They'll make s'mores and talk about saving the universe while looking totally hypocritical having just glassed the planet ( totally not like the Covanent in any way AT ALL )...

Then a giant face will materialize and shoop da whoop the universe and it'll all be over
    The hamster will RULE ALLL....

What I want is an Iconian Boss Ship that's like the Crystalline Entity on Advanced turned up to eleven, with shields equal to its hp, combined confuse&placate attacks, and massive damage spam in every direction.

You'd need EITHER 10 100k DPS scimitards OR a team of 3 debuff/drain sci ships, 1 immobilizer sci ship specced for tractor beams and tractor mines and such, 1 super-duper tough tank, 2 healer sci ships, and 2 DPS fiend escorts with threat-reducing consoles. Minimum DPS per player on the second team is 10k, but the immobilizer only needs 5k, the tank needs 20k (easy on an oddy or recluse), and the DPSscorts need 40k+.

    Oughta be fun.

But we already know where they live. After their defeat at Iconia, they hid in the Solanae Dyson Sphere. Then, at some point, they moved to the Andromeda galaxy, where they've been watching us ever since.

I don't know how, or when they will meet their demise (who does?) but one thing I think we can guarantee is that it'll be with the assistance of the Dominion.

The iconians are going to be the next trash mob. I can just see it now, players plowing through low ranking iconians and fighting one boss, then, the next thing you know, a new update where you have to grind through more Iconians...

And once again, I am reminded of the wise words of that great philosopher, Hobbes (the tiger, not the human): "It's hard to coexist peacefully with things that want to kill you."

We find out that Iconans are really goldfish, that having been left on many starship ready rooms to die, have evolved superior technology and now wish to take over the universe for their kind to flourish.

Based on what I see to date...

    1) It will be based on the ending of ___ from another franchise entirely.

    2) The final battle (and it will be a battle) will be entirely DPS focused.

    3) You will be required to grind for months and months to unlock Super Mega Ultra Hyper
Awesome Elite rank to fight the final battle.

    4) At the end we will learn that the Iconians were merely puppets of some other master race and now we have to start over and figure out how to defeat them.

Seriously now, do you really expect some grand sendoff or end-end-game for the franchise? Not likely. What I see happening is the game grinding (heh) to a halt before we get that far. Middle of next year, I'll say. Servers will spin down before we get a resolution... PW only understands Endless Grind, STO Staff Writers only understand "copy other franchise" and the fans are getting tired.

The numbers speak for themselves, they've shot themselves in the (other) foot this time it's just a matter of months before the game ends. TBH, if it makes it through the holiday I'll be surprised

No, the Doom thread is in another subforum.

And the game has been on the verge of imminent shutdown since at least closed beta - almost as long as its sister game, Champions Online. Don't people get tired of marching around with signs reading, "THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END!", after a while?
