I have been playing the advanced PVE ques to try and obtain the delta rep ancient power cells so that i can start getting my hands on some delta quadrant gear.
However of the 40 (or so) missions I have played I've only managed to get 2 of them which wouldn't even buy my lunch in Neelix's kitchen.
I would say I'm a very mid range player and as a mid range PVE queued mission i think its a little difficult.
maybe its just me or the other 40 (or so) teams i have played with that are struggling with this i don't know so feed back from players on this would be good.
at the end of the day if people are struggling to obtain the additional items needed for the rep system's their not going to bother playing the content or worse the game itself.
I think the Advanced difficulty level - after the most recent patch - is about right. The idea has been floating around on here that Normal queues should possibly drop a Borg Neural Processor (or the equivalent for the appropriate Reputation) for a successful completion of the mission + the optional which I think would be the best way to go.
Advanced difficulty doesn't need another nerf - it'll turn into a too-easy waste of time.

I would have to agree. The difficulty on advanced is pretty perfect since the last patch. It would be nice to get at least 1 Ancient Power Cell from completing optional (advanced) or two of them (elite).
Honestly I wish they didn't nerf the Hull on Advanced as it is. It was difficult enough as it was. If anything they could've adjusted things like the CCA points on the Crystalline entity, but to simply Nerf the Hull was something they could've done without. The game is already being pushed back into pre-DR relations and making it easy again for those who refuse to make a ship that can deal real damage.

I am inclined to agree with this AND the idea of dropping the power cells/neural/probes/iso injectors on normal. I am stuck somewhere between the two difficulty levels it seems. I did Conduit Advanced and felt like I was the weak link but survived. Tried Mirror Invasion on Advanced and it was an all out massacre. Doing both of these missions on normal is easy for me and I notice that my DPS is somewhere in the upper portions, oft times I scored 3rd place in STFs.
I'd like to see the normal queues drop the special items needed for reputation items. My reason is that I'm your basic casual player and I like the queues, and I like to get the reputation items, since I don't have a lot of money, in any of the forms, to buy everything needed to upgrade to the max, I can't make a dent in the ships in the advanced (completely forget the elite) queues.
Oh well, preaching to the choir (or the wall) and I know what I'd like will never happen...

Yes, I think its roughly about right. The right level of challenge for most medium level or just above players. If you don't remain slightly on the ball, you can certainly die but its the right level of fun and weaker players can be carries somewhat by other team members without their presence pretty much dooming the entire thing.
I'd like to see the success rates for pugs on the following:
Borg disconnected- my guess 10%
Defend Rhiho station- my guess 15%
Viscous cyclle- my guess 0%
Then undine infiltration maybe 30%
Pug those missions not ISA and CCA then report back if it's too easy.

Yeah have to agree I feel like I'm somewhere in the middle between normal and elite. Im forever dying in bug hunt on advanced when either trying to kill the queen or protecting that yoyo planting bombs.
Their was one person who wasn't dying at all and I asked them what gear they had so I could manage better.
Turns out she had delta gear which requireds the power cells. So In order to survive I need to get power cells for to buy the equipment I need to get the power cells.
Honestly I wish they didn't nerf the Hull on Advanced as it is. It was difficult enough as it was. Here's the problem with your statement...SOME PEOPLE DO NOT WANT TO BE DPS. They want to tank, heal or control in ships other than A2B Cruisers and escorts/destroyers. I've already switched over my Engineer to FAW from a cannon build and did the same thing on my sci which had a torpedo Vesta/TSAB.
Granted it's Cryptic's fault in half assing the difficulty increase by slapping more hull and shields on mobs. Some people also forget that a fresh 50 is not going to even remotely have the gear for advanced difficulty as it is. Yet, things they need (BNPs/APC's oncy come in Advanced queues. Now there are other gear sets that don't require it, but the Omega Set has some nice bonuses. If they want BFAW Online (which I doubt), then keep things the way they are, but they are only hurting them selves in the long run.
My Proposal would be for the following to be changed:
Normal - Keep things as they are. If the optional is completed you get the BNP or Ancient Powercell
Advanced - Moar HP 1 BNP/APC on completion. Optional - Optional but implement mechanics that are easier if science or tanks are in the STF. It would be easy - Lots of mobs that need control effects or high resistance to energy/kinetic damage. Something with tons of spike damage that could only be handled by a zombie tank etc. Additional Rep item if optional is completed.
Reputation in general. Allow for Romulan, Nukara, and Omega rep to be ground while leveling from 1-50. Those factions appear in the story missions. Then make Romulan and Nukara gear MK Infinity and upgradeable at level 50 like the Lobi Gear. This minimizes the gap once they hit 50 and can do STFs by having some rep gear and rep passives.
Specialization - Allow the new player to bank specialization points as they level from 1-50 so they can get 5 or so upon reaching 50 or enable them to get 2/level up to 55.
You can get the special items for the Dyson rep tree from the ground BZ, no ques required (in fact the ground BZ hands out marks and the items faster then any que ever would and you can run it without highend ground gear by the way though you will have a harder time and should find a group to help out but can still solo it, I know this FIRST HAND. I have done it one several alts.).
For the Counter Command Rep tree (Undine) you can run the Undine Space BZ and get both marks and the special items... no ques...
For Delta Rep Tree you can Bug Hunt Advanced with box rep ground weapons, the ones you get for opening the rep boxes as you are running the rep projects, a basic MKXI sheild off the exchange and a damn solane eva suit you can get for free, though you will die so be prepared for that. Bring Large hypos and toss a stacks of regerators in your bank to heal your injuries during the mission so you don't hold back the team and there you go.. one item per run. (You do need to have atleast one character unlock the mission though, but once done it unlocks for entire account). By the way this mission, if you don't bunch up and take the min gear I suggested and the hypos and regens, isn't that hard.
The ONLY Rep tree requiring special items that most try and run adv space ques for at this point and need better gear for would be Omega Rep. I have not qued for the ground adv missions that would give these out I have heard some are doable like BHA (see above) and just put one of those devices to cycle your weapon frequiences on your character and you can do it... so I have heard again I have no done it. Most of my characters all already have higher end gear (one newer alt is gearing delta rep as his first good ground gear).
Bottom line is this... you are not "stuck" in fail pugs trying over and over to get good gear and not being able to do it. There are a number of good Rep sets availbe to you without having to que adv space missions.
As stated by devs in the past the individual rep gear is disigned specially for that reps environment. What's the point in trying to advance through that inviroment if getting the right gear to do so is difficult.
As scotty once said "the right tool for the right job"
One chap on here had a good suggestion about the rewards on normal mode.
To choose the reward between dill and marks or the power cell.

I've found that although it might be designed for that purpose, it's not exactly like it can only be used for that purpose. I mean by the time you hit T5 and get the final peices of the Rep set you've probably finished and are sick of that content anyway. I know I was especially with the Undine set. Atleast the new Delta set has more to offer you in reguards for general usage and not very specialized.
Why do you think there's lots of weapon types, gear, consoles, doffs and ship loadouts?
Their all there to help you equip your ship for the foes and their environment your going up against.
That's the whole point of having choice and ship loadouts so you can have the right tool for the right job.

So you suggest we change our builds for every enemy we face? Really? I don't see that in the varied amount of weapons. Though a few of the rep types, as seen in Dyson and Counter Command for space and Omega and Nukra for ground had increased dmg against a single type of mob, most weapon and energy types are just as effective reguardless of who you fight. A few enemies might parse weaker against some damage types, but personally I have not seen notable improvements even when using the "anti-something" weapons the dmg boost isn't huge typically.
Limiting Borg Neural Processors and Ancient Powercells that way is wrong. I myself believe that I would be more of a handicap on advanced or elite because I know I have issues with my timing, hell I sometimes have problems with the single player story missions on normal because I mis-time my abilities.
As it is now I will give all my toons the romulan plasma weaponry and gear because it is, for me, the easiest and most fun to get with the counter command items a close second. I personally do not like ground combat so will not do the ground battle zone.
IMHO Cryptic should give similar alternate ways to get the processors or powercells rather than limiting them to advanced or harder or guarantee 1 BNP or APC for advanced and 2 for elite and give normal a 25% chance for 1 depending on the cue.
Will something like this happen, no. Would I like something like this to happen, yes.

I agree on most and there should borg neural processors in normal. But the way they have it now you have to do advance and it is way to hard for those players atm. But advance was not suppose to be for just level 60 players. They need to put elite up and put advance as they said it was suppose to be (like the old elite). They raised the level to normal to 50 and it was for level 45. So now when you reach 45 you can't do normal borg stf but the story still has you joining omega at 45 lol.
As someone who likes to fly an under-performing ship, the Galaxy, with an effort to make her do well, Advanced has been a mixed bag after the last patch. No problem on the Conduit however Disconnected has been a fail more often than not.
Part of it is the groups. One player in Disconnected can pit the ships against each other and hold down a section on their own, but, in most of the fails, somebody decided to leave one unattended and not enough ships are saved. I think the enemy stats are right for Advanced now, but the required objectives might benefit from some adjustment here and there to account for the unevenness of PUGs.
I would like to see the higher difficulty enemies doing more damage instead of just having ridiculous HP pools that are tedious to burn through.
The birds of prey in the cure are probably the best example I can think of. Their HP pools are absolutely hilarious.
The way to do the mission now seems to be to literally just have one or two guys cc them endlessly while everyone else burns down all the cubes, which are much easier to actually kill.
Ok so maybe that's how they intended the event to work now but did they need to use BoP then. I mean we need BoPs with more durability than Borg cubes? This improves the game?
It's not like they're actually dangerous either. They can't kill you short of you flying into a swarm of them, all stoppping, then going for a coke, but they've got so many hp that killing them feels like mowing the lawn with a pair of nail clippers.
I'm saying this as someone who flies an aux to bat D'Deridex or Ar'kif with top of the line fleet gear and consoles. I'm not that guy with 2 mk xi dual beam banks and mismatched torps wondering why he can't kill anything.
I am wondering why the hell I keep failing undine assault immediately after killing the planet killer though.

That is pretty much the intended strategy.
Though I agree BoPs are not the right choice for this.
They are basically just relabled Klingon ships, the don't look Borg adapted in any way.
If they want to go wth BoPs maybe they should modify them a bit visually and give them an interesting new ability that is based on BoP cloak?
Instead of a million HP the Borg perfected the cloak and they keep attacking the Kang without decloaking.
So players have to heal and buff the Kang to keep it alive and try to decloak the BoPs first to thin them out a bit.
And put in a sphere per spawn to escort them and give players something to shoot at.
But of course that would have needed more time and effort than adjusting a few numbers.
ALso just a tip: the spheres that guard the cubes count toward shipyard destruction but can be kited.
So don't FAW or otherwise kill them. Kill the nanite probes, spawning raptors and cubes, but keep the spheres alive, kite them all to the same spot and then kill them at the same time. That way the BoPs don't get replaced by raptor or even negh'var spawns before you can hail the Kang.
Maybe, but I would be okay if only doing normals requires a bit of extra work to get the same results, otherwise people start farming only normals same as they do now with the mirror event.
Even 300 Marks would be ok imo.
Normal difficulty players then have the option of getting the rep gear but can't get it as fast as players capable of playing advanced.
Honestly I wish they didn't nerf the Hull on Advanced as it is. It was difficult enough as it was. Is Damage the only thing that matters? If so shouldn't everyone be a rom tac flying a scimitar? Dose that make an ounce of sense.
If Adavance is fine with all those hit point globes why are the queues so empty?
if they just added one of special items needed for reputation the daily rep reward pack for what ever content that rewards rep marks ( you know that 55 mark we get for nothing basically) then people would have no cause to complain yeah it may take 3-5 days to get them but they will get them and have a chance to upgrade to better gear without further nerfing of the game.
the thing is will they indeed upgrade? i just posted in another thread where i guy at lvl 56 is still using mk xi rare gear and complaining that its too hard.
id also wonder myself what have you been doing in game to be above lvl 50 and still be using any MK XI gear at all much less some of it being only rare...
and this is the i believe the 1st time i have ever made a post such as this because upto 50 we had no idea of how long a person had been at that rank and its possible they had just turned 50 and not gotten gear upgraded from lower ranks yet. but anything above 50 we know you have had the opportunity for some time now. and it just really makes me wonder what in the world you have been doing besides working on survival.
i mean really if you dont care about staying alive enough to upgrade your gear why should anybody else care including the devs.
Trophies for killing FEDS ahh those were the days.

I don't Fall in to that category ALL my gear is MK XIV. some very rare most ultra rare.
I'm flying a Phantom with 3 fleet phaser dual heavys and a quad cannon at the front,
1 fleet turret, 360'o phaser beam and borg cutting beam at the back.
Counter command deflector
assimilated borg engine and shield
4 fleet phaser relays
fleet power warp core
and other things i cant be bothered to mention.
Borg Disconnected advanced I can't defeat the borg quick enough to rescue the friendly's. now surly this cant be down to my build!! so whats the problem?
someone please tell me whats the problem cos I'm really getting pee'd off with this. 40+ of this mission and 2 power cells to show for it!!
bear in mind that 40 x 5 = 200 people having the same issue.
all those people who think their doing just fine with this mission you should be playing the elite one.
I think its too difficult - for the only way to obtain materials - . It means its virtually impossible for new lvl 50 characters to get the items needed for the STFs. As they need the gear to get the gear.

Then undine infiltration maybe 30%
impossible to finish rhiho station; the timer is shorter, and if someone use a mortar, it is not worth trying.
viscous cycle advanced: 2 optional bugged.
i would add:
- ISA: 25%, there are a bunch of morons who do this stf
i stopped to do khitomer vortex elite; too long and boring
no, no, and no; do the elite ground stfs.
how players new at lvl50 are supposed to earn processors, materials etc?
btw, for those who think that the advanced stfs are perfect like that, go doing elite stfs, and let cryptic modify the advanced stfs for us: the pugs
Is Damage the only thing that matters? If so shouldn't everyone be a rom tac flying a scimitar? Dose that make an ounce of sense.
If Adavance is fine with all those hit point globes why are the queues so empty?
ridiculous. this thread is about advanced, if they are easier for you ---> elite stfs
the thing is will they indeed upgrade? i just posted in another thread where i guy at lvl 56 is still using mk xi rare gear and complaining that its too hard.
