Can't leave chat channel

In star trek online, I joined a channel named "trade." It keeps having people posting stuff from neverwinter in it probably because Cryptic runs both games.

I don't even play neverwinter. I want to leave that channel. I right clicked on the chat box tab. I went over to the tab named "channels," found the channel I joined named "trade," clicked on it. Then clicked the "leave" button.

It prompted me for a confirmation to leave the channel. I confirmed. It did not take the channel of my list. It did not remove the channel. I still get posts from that channel in my chat box.

I tried going in and simply uncheck the "trade" channel so that even though I am stilll in it, I don't receive any messages, but it is not listed as a channel I am in there, so I cannot disable the text from it.

How do I leave this channel? Please help. I posted a bug report in game, and they told, contacted a GM, and they told me to report it here too.

Surprised nobody's answered this, so thought I'd at least suggest a workaround.

Personally I haven't left any channels, but the workaround is to open the chat window, right-click on the chat bar at top to open up the "Chat Configuration", scroll down the right-hand list to "custom channels" and untick the channel you don't want.

If this isn't working, then it's a serious problem and it'll need a bug report. I've never experienced a channel still being visible after unticking.

It's not ideal but at least that way you won't see anything out of that channel and it will remove the channel name from your "talk to channel" options.

Yeah, see I already thought of that. Good thought though thanks anyway. Tried it. The problem is that the channel in question is not listed in the list of channels with check boxes.

All the other channels are listed with check boxes, and can be checked or unchecked normally to enable or disable them. Since this one is not listed at all, it has no check box to uncheck. It simply posts in my chat box with no ability to control it, enable it, disable it, or leave the channel.

I even tried to join it again in the hopes that it would create a check box so that I could uncheck it. You cannot join a channel twice though. You must leave the channel before you can join it again. Thus I cannot create a box to uncheck / untick.

I also tried deleting the entire chat tab, and creating a new one. No go. It still has the "trade" channel posting in the newly created one, and it did not create a check box indicating that I am in a channel called "trade" that I can uncheck.

Also tried creating a whole new chat window, then creating new chat tabs within it. Also doesn't work. Blah.

In game bug report has been submitted, and now this one is here.

    The trade channel again...

You can't leave that channel because is not an STO chat channel, it belongs to another game,

For some reason some channels seems to be accessible from other games

I think it's from champions online, but i'm not 100% sure.

You need to download the other game, log in, same username and password as STO , and leave that channel from there

For a while this was listed in the "Known Issues" of the weekly release notes, but it looks like they gave up on trying to fix it. Your only option is to live with it, or to download CO and leave the channel from there.

    Try

    http://co-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=202751

    or

    http://files.champions-online.com/launcher/Champions%20Online.exe

Just download the launcher, it will install everything you need. It really is quite incredible that the same file that runs the program also handles its installation and everything!

Ok, so I downloaded Champions Online through Arc, installed it, created a character super fast, and then went into the chat settings and ditched the "trade" channel, which was the name of the channel I was stuck in.

It actually had it listed in CO unlike in Star Trek Online, and I was able to leave it. Then when I came back over to STO, the channel was gone, and I am not seeing posts from the "trade" channel from Champions Online anymore.

Thanks for the help! I am glad some people knew what to do.

Perfect World / Cryptic really needs to fix this. It is a pretty complicated bug that is not very intuitive to figure out, and takes a fair amount of effort to fix. Download a whole new, different game? People shouldn't have to do that.

A second option would be to fill out a ingame support ticket and they may be able to remove the channel for you
