I am really enjoying the guardian but truth is im a ship nutt and was wondering if anyone has info on new upcoming ships for the federation. Are there any plans for a universe class type ship (Far fetched i know) but would be pretty awesome. Any feedback would be much appreciated and thanks in advance.

I'm sure there will be more, but we'll most likely never see the Ent-J (Universe class). The ship is game breakingly huge. It's pretty much as long as ESD is tall. As a matter of fact, I recall dstahl shooting that very idea down before he left, for that very reason.

Yea i knew the universe class was game breaking but would be really cool as a guild ship that requires 12+ players to operate and defeat special content lol just a thought. I am happy with my current ship guardian, never thought i would retire my Jem ships, at least until upgrades are available.
I'd be very surprised and upset if we didn't see anymore T6 ships, not only do we need ALOT more ships for all factions, I think this would be a big money maker for PWE.
I'd be happy if they'd give us a T6 Dreadnought Guardian that succeeds and improves on the Gal-X in all areas (but without the unsightly 3rd nacelle; they could enlarge the two pylon Nacelles if they wanted), a T6 Typhoon Battleship, and a T6 Jupiter dreadnought. Or instead of a Typhoon, an Odyssey battleship that retains the angled and double-nacelle configuration of the Typhoon (just bigger and longer). Or both.
Though I'm also looking forward to what new Intel ships they have in store as well, as I love the Intel skin and their Intel abilities.
That being said, the Intel series have gotten more popular as of late, as more people take the helm and enjoy a number of the Intel powers (both Boff and built-in) and ship capabilities.
Pretty sure the next T6 ship will be the Sarr Theln warship/carrier from the winter event, but we'll see plenty more after that between lockboxes and c-store releases.
As far as new T6 ships go, I remain skeptical; the current lineup, for FED at least covers the core needs of an Escort (Phantom), Intel Science Ship (Scryer), Normal Science Ship (Dauntless), Intel Cruiser (Eclipse) and then the Guardian for the more generic Cruiser player.
Between them, these ships build a strong backbone for any FED player, lacking only a non-intel Escort. For all other purposes, the T5, or T5U get the job done. I can see additional skins being released sometime soon for these ships, but not necessarily new ships themselves, not outside of Events or Lock Boxes anyway.
It's a shame, cause there's some potential to be had with existing builds, and KDF players are still waiting for that new Negh'Var that was on it's way some 50 years ago...

The Universe Class (Ent-J?) would be absurd, I'm sorry. It could feature as a map object in a time travel episode arc, but as a playable cruiser, it's just too big and would otherwise look out of place.
I VERY much suspect that, since they've already been confirmed, we'll see the introduction of Fleet T6 versions of the existing T6 ships before any new ones are produced.

But what are we buying now? Ships? Or Traits? As stated above, for the most part, we have all the ships, and all the builds that can be made use of. There's very little variation to be had. Their only option (which I'd think them reluctant to do) would be to (re)release some of the T5/T5U ships as T6. I might be mistaken, but I don't think the Intel theme has taken off as much as they'd like it to have done either.

Ya'know, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the Winter (and Summer) ships remained T5 (or, after upgrade, T5U). Needless to say, if they did release the newer ones at T6, then I wouldn't mind a T6 Chel Grett Upgrade.
Leaving aside the player basing wanting some NEW ships, there are also possibilities for
~ fleet versions of the intel ships
~ refit and/or fleet versions of the Odessy, Vesta, Bortasqu, etc.
~ a "delta" version of the intrepid with new interior package
~ mirror hero ships?
There's some tinkering to be done with boff and console layout that PWE would be silly not to monetize. All that assumes that Cryptic really cares about power creep. If not, there's all sorts of things they could do with Tier 6s.
My guess is the Sarr'Then and 'Voyager' are still sitting in Cryptic Shipyards at the moment, but I really don't think the Federation needs any more T6 ships until the Romulan and Klingon T6 fleet gets rounded out a bit more.
Klingons still need their T6 carrier and Raider - staples of the KDF navy. An argument could probably be made for a new Eng/Sci FDC as well.
Romulans are still in need of a proper T6 support ship. The Faeht does not have the staying power for it and the Aelahl is very much an assault ship. (*cough* Reman Stealth/Intel Carrier*cough*)
At best, the only thing the Federation is really lacking at T6 is something with fighter capacity. They've got an escort, a battlecruiser, an all-purpose cruiser and two aggressive science ships.
If they had 2 more rom t6 ship and put them on the delta pack, took out all but 1-2 fed ships and called it the R-Delta Operations pack I would buy it for the 129.00 they want for the fed-centric version. I am sure Klinks would feel the same way about a K-Delta Operations pack.
They want to make money, give us things we'd like to spend money on, a line of T6 ships would fit that, maybe futurized versions of existing classics, such as the Nebula, the Galaxy, the Typhoon, physical variants of the Odyssey, many of the Klingon Ships.
Unfortunately what I expect them doing is making ships and putting them in lock boxes so that they can get people to spend way too much trying to get them.
If something is not broken, don't fix it, if it is broken, don't leave it broken.

I am sure the Federation will get a great many.

2 How many of those ships you see everywhere now, are only being flown to unlock the Trait, and will then never, ever be flown again by that player?
I find myself in that position. I had enough Dil Stockpiled that i got the Eclypse (the Phantom would´ve been my first choice if it didn´t looks SO BAD). Its a fine ship and if I were a cruier player i´d surely consider it as a permanent choice, but being an escort pilot I´ll only fly it as long as it takes to unlock its Mastery.
Fleet versions of the Odyssey etc were not required as they were already at that level (i.e same number of consoles and BOFFS).
.
You have far more faith than I that T5U will remain equivalent to T6. At some point T5U ships will become obsolete. How soon that happens will probably be a function of economics.
I think we will see more T6 for Klingon and Romulan players (at least I hope we do.... Klingon Tac here and it's my only character so far :P ) Hoping for a carrier myself.
I would love to see a T6 Assault Cruiser and a T6 Star Cruiser (with boff seating better suited to the role than is current) however, I don't see it happening. T6 designs will likely be new designs.

I would like to argue for this; I think it's needed. The issue I'd have though, is that if Cryptic took this route, they'd have to do the Scimitar too - and isn't that thing already overpowered?
I think the next T6 coming for the FEDS (I speak of this because I only play FED) will be the Typhoon, as a non-Intel T6 battleship. They said back in December 2012 if I remember correctly, they would consider it when they increased the level cap and if there was enough support, which there is.
Probably the Typhoon will be heavily tac-oriented, and with a Lt. Tac/Intel BOff seat; and maybe they redesign it before release, though I'd like for the original skin to still be usable.
I'm sure there will be more T6 lock box ships coming, T6 Cruisers, T6 Escorts, T6 Destroyers, T6 Raiders, T6 Tac heavy carriers, T6 Dreadnoughts, T6 Flight Deck Cruisers, T6 Heavy Escort Carriers, and T6 Battlecruisers...I'm pretty sure I got everything that the Devs care about making.
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power
There'd be no point wasting money on a T-6 carrier as long as pets suck. If you're going to fly a space whale you might as well get a Guardian and be useful, instead of a T-6 carrier that can launch two hangers worth of autonomous fireworks and be useless.

So, same size as the Scimitar then?
If by same size, you mean more than three times the length, and who knows how much volume, then yes. Yes it is.
According to Drexler, the Ent-J is 3210 meters. Scimitar is only 890.

Not disagreeing with you but wondering out loud:-
1 Is this more a measure of how well the DR pack sold, than how well just the ships sold?;

AS a romulan and KDF player (about 2/3rds of my toons) I feel like the small orphan looking at the fat FED and wondering....
Please sir, can i have some more?

Don't know and PWE/Cryptic won't say.
There's lots of T6 ships flying around regardless of source.
And it doesn't matter if the ship is flown only for the trait. The T6 ship sold. That is the key there.
