Some very strangely high damage numbers

I admit, this report is secondhand. I did not see the player in question doing this, though the person who told me about it did paste a line from the combat window that the person did somewhere in the ballpark of 95000 damage with dual chroniton beams in a single shot. No overload or fire at will was mentioned (which I'm pretty sure are both included when applied) in the entry, just the unaided weapon. The ship was also apparently packing all weapons from lobi store sets, which was another curious thing to me, since arming up like that seems counter-intuitive to DPS optimization. The ship was one of the romulan dyson destroyers. The guy who told me about it didn't get an @handle, just a character name which showed up in the paste. Keeping to terms, I won't mention it here. But I am just wondering if anyone has seen anything like this before, or has any idea what in the hell happened? The player in question apparently just roamed around the mirror invasion run getting numbers like this on everything they shot at. It seems like a very troubling bug.

If you don't see it, there isn't a problem. I've seen a Chroniton DBB overload do 95k myself, but never the weapon.

Probably didn't happed IMO. My chroniton DBB works as intended.

I use those from time to time, haven't seen anything funny, in fact I've upgraded a few lobi things just for the fun of it, they are average/weak compared to the good rep gear.

you could be mistaken, or another possibility is that there's some crazy synergy going on with that players setup. like several things are raising weapon power and there's a ton of +beam and +chroniton damage items.

A [CrtD]x3 DBB could well do that kinda of dmg. Especially on a Tact, with a synergy of APA, TI, ATO3, etc, together.

Without a combat log it's all kinda moot to begin with, though.

There are some strange/nonlinear effects that are observed when the target has stacked debuffs so that when the resist drops below zero, crit damage is through the roof (100+k damage out of a torpedo, for example). Not sure if that is WAI but the devs may want to take a look at what happens when targets carry negative resists (or if targets should even be having negative resists and not just capping resists to zero).

Stacked resist debuffs was the only thing close to an explanation I could come up with. I know they can get very high with deep negatives due to the diminishing return algorithm for resistance expanding when calculating into negatives (the same calculation that turns a 50% DR rating into 33% actual DR turns -50% rating into effectively -100%). Like I've seen a phaser lance from my phantom smack an enemy for over 80k on a non crit. The guy I was talking to though pasted a line from the log to me as an example to show me how crazy it was, there was no overload or fire at will mentioned. It just said the weapon, like a normal attack. But even with stacked debuffs, wouldn't everyone have been doing damage like that? I am not saying the lobi weapons are broken (I would say they're not at all, most of the "optimized" builds don't even bother with them). I am just not sure if there is some kind of very strange bug going on or what.
